Or it might be that Lazor isn't running our draft. Which, of course, he is not. To suggest that Lazor vouching for him would have automatically made him the pick is silly.

It's fine that you like James better, but if you can't see how anyone can put them in the same general category you aren't paying attention. They are all about the same size, have about the same level of athleticism and were all long-term college starters.

    Player/Overall Rank

    CBS/NFL Draft Scout

    Kouandjio -- 29
    Moses -- 36
    James -- 38

    ESPN/McShay

    Moses -- 16
    Kouandjio -- 32
    James -- 55

    NFL/Mayock

    Kouandjio -- 24
    Moses -- 47
    James -- 60

    NFL/Jeremiah

    Moses -- 29
    Kouandjio -- 42
    James -- 50

    NFL/Brandt

    Kouandjio -- 24
    Moses -- 30
    James -- 39

    NFL/Nawrocki

    Kouandjio -- 42
    James -- 45
    Moses -- 50+

Of these sources, all had Kouanjio rated higher than James and only one had James rated higher than Moses. I'm not particularly bothered by that, as I see them as all fairly equivalent (again, the differences between 15 and 50 or so is pretty small and a matter of taste/opinion). But your suggestion that it is crazy for anyone to think they all fall in the same general category is nonsense.

The only way I see Manziel moving 30 yards on that play, would be on a stretcher, on a cart, immediately after the play.

exactly....all that other stuff means nothing. One guy has 49 starts at RT, the position we're looking to draft. Kouandjio is a career left tackle with injury concerns, which makes him a project at trying to plug in at right tackle in the NFL. Moses is known by our offensive coordinator. I am sure the team asked Lazor about his opinion of the guy he coached in college. The damn sure asked Mike Sherman about his college players, which is why he ended up with Tannehill, Lane, and the wide receiver (cant think of his name). Lazor must have not had a lot of good things to say or else he would have gotten the nod.

I'm going to come at this from a different angle...

If the only bad thing you can say about the selection was that it was a "bit of a reach", then I'd say we did pretty damn good.

It's like people completely forget Tannehill improved significantly from his rookie season.

Mind you, without any protection OR a running game to help.

They were all long-time OT starters, with Moses also playing RT for much of his caollege career. Lots of college LTs have successfully moved to RT in the pros. In fact, probably most NFL RTs played LT in college. To suggest that James is by far the better prospect just because he played exclusively RT in college is silly.

Not sure why. Josh Gordon has a better chance of coming down with that pass than all but maybe 2-4 NFL DBs, if that.

If that's the case then what is the point of drafting a QB? Just put a runningback back there and have him lob it up to Josh Gordon every play.

While I still think the Dolphins have a year or two of mediocrity left before they turn it around. I have absolutely no problem with the pick. The Dolphins had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL last year and they definitely had to start upgrading this unit. So if Hickey felt that going with James with the 19th pick in the first round, I'm all for it. I just hope he can come in and contribute immediately.

I still think the Dolphins need to add one more quality offensive lineman who can come in and win a starting job in 2014 from this draft. If they can get two quality OL starters from this draft, I will consider the 2014 draft a success.

My concern is that the Dolphins regressed on defense last year. I think they have a below average LB corp and other then Grimes, I think the secondary is at best mediocre. So even if the offensive line improves this year, it won't surprise me if the defense continues its decline this coming season and will have to be severely upgraded during the 2015 off season.

The biggest question mark remains Tannehill, as far as I am concerned. I question if he is going to develop under a new OC. He has no pocket awareness and I have always felt that QB's either have awareness in the pocket or they don't. I also don't know if he will ever be an effective passer when it comes to throwing the deep ball.

I haven't given up on Tannehill and I certainly hope he takes a giant step forward as an NFL QB in 2014. I consider this a make or break year for Tannehill and Philbin, so I hope my prediction of another mediocre season proves to be false. Right now though, I think we are in for more of the same from this team in 2014.

Ummm....didn't we just get done trying to plug in an All-American left tackle at the right tackle position? How did that work out? You have to take coaching into consideration. Other teams might have coaching staffs who know what the hell they're doing and can coach a LT to play RT. We don't. So we don't need projects in the first round. Take the guy who has a deep background at the position you want him to play. James was the smart choice for this staff. You don't have much teaching to do. Plug him in and let's go.

we all know Sammy is a beast, Woods will only get better, and Mike Williams is pretty good. Marquise Goodwin can make plays too. hell every corner on our team is "unproven" except for Grimes.

I think most people generally want to feel good about last night's pick, limiting their misgivings to very quarrantined specific issues like whether they should have traded down.

Do you think last night's draft pick made a difference? Do you think Joe Philbin is on a path to be fired by 2015? Do you think Dennis Hickey goes with him? Or do you think everyone stays on?

Sammy Watkins is a concern but unproven. We have Brent Grimes for him. We will see if that is enough. Mike Williams is inconsistent. Woods and Goodwin are not proven. I don't see the need to draft a corner to stop what they have when it is mostly unproven.

I think JaWuan James can play well at right tackle and everyone still ends up fired. Lack of a ground game, a dulled edge on Hartline's game due to coming off injury, ground game not being able to stop anyone...and voila we're looking at a new coach.

Hopefully the new guy will have some nice pieces to work with though. Albert, Pouncey, Shelley, James, Clay, Odrick, Wake, Starks, Grimes...
