Well, fellas day one is in the books and per usual Dolphin fans can never be satisfied.... just the way we work but it is what it is. Was the pick a bit of a reach....Probably. But, what if he turns out to be a solid starter and plays a decade for us? Then we will probably look back at this and laugh at how foolish we looked. I wish we could've traded down more than anything but oh well, Hickey must've imagined a team liking James enough to take him before we would've with a trade down. Regardless, as long as James works out I cannot be upset with addressing our biggest need. A big reason I am not upset is there is a hell of a lot of talent still on the board coming up in round 2 and I like the potential we could add. So, look at pick #50 what are the most logical positions we could address: WR, TE, OG, LB, CB/S WR is pretty stocked with such options available: Lee, Robinson, Latimer, Moncrief, and Matthews TE: ASJ, Amaro, and Niklas OG: Bitinio, Sua'Filo, Jackson, Turner, Martin, and Dozier LB: Borland, Bradford, Skov, Telvin Smith CB: Joyner, Jean-Baptiste, Gaines, McGill, Watkins, and Desir S: Terrance Brooks, Dion Bailey Top Targets: Lee, Robinson, Moncrief, ASJ, Bitinio, Sua'Filo, Turner, Martin, Bradford, Smith, Gaines, Watkins, and Brooks. We are the 18th pick in the 2nd round If it is me for the #50 spot in order if on the board: 1. Lee 2. Bitinio 3. Sua'Filo 4. Robinson 5. ASJ 6. Moncrief 7. Watkins 8. Martin 9. Turner Most Likely: Robinson, ASJ, Moncrief or Turner My Pick: Allen Robinson - Provides us with a much needed size element (6'3" 220lbs) to our receivers. He is no sluch either in the speed department recording a 4.47 at his pro day, 39 inch vertical, and 10'11" broad jump.
Players I want most: 1. Allen Robinson, 2. Jace Amaro, 3. Kyle Van Noy Players I don't want? Martavius Bryant, any QB, and Crighton.
If you like Borland, and Miami doesn't take him, you may want to watch some of Preston Brown from Louisville. He's the consolation prize if Miami misses on Borland and Skov after not getting the chance to swipe either of Shaizer and Mosley. Brown certainly isn't as dynamic as Shazier, Mosley, Borland, etc. But he is steady, smart, and a physical run-stopping presence at MLB. Shameless plug on my part as he's a Cincinnati native (so is Luke Kuechly if it makes a difference).
1a) Allen Robinson 1b) Marqise Lee 1c) Jace Amaro 2a) Tre Mason 2b) Marcus Martin 2c) Weston Richburg 3a) Trai Turner 3b) Billy Turner 3c) Couldn't find a 3rd prospect with Turner for a last name.
WR - Jordan Matthews or Montavius Bryant RB - Carlos Hyde, Tre Mason, Andre Williams, or Devonta Freeman LB - Chris Borland, Shayne Skov, or Telvin Smith CB - Antone Exum or Lamarcus Joyner S - Terrance Brooks
I don't want a Safety or CB. I want a WR, TE or another OL (or RB if it's a Mason or Seastrunk). I'd really like Ju'wann James at 50, but he's been snatched up unexpectedly.
I've seen more of Amaro than ASJ. I think Dion Sims is pretty similar to ASJ in certain ways, and I view Amaro as more of a true Y-TE.
