With pick 187 in the 6th round, Seattle selects Antone Exum, FS/CB, Virginia Tech

Teams are looking at the physical 6'0 213 pound Exum as a safety, and that's what Seattle is drafting him for. Earl Thomas needs a viable backup, and Exum fits the bill with 5 INTs and 15 passes defended as a junior before missing his senior year with an injury.
If Antone can stay healthy he has solid 3rd round talent and with the potential to become a quality starter within a few years.

Bengals write-up for pick 6.191, J.C. Copeland, FB, from LSU.

The Bengals added J.C. Copeland as a true FB to allow Orson Charles to move back to a more traditional H-Back role and compete with Daniel Fells for a roster spot. Copeland will provide a massive lead-blocking presence for the stable of Giovani Bernard, Robert Turbin, and Andre Williams. At 5'11" and 271lbs, Copeland is a truck in short-yardage situations and has scored 7 TDs over his career. He's also got soft hands for a big man. Originally a DE recruit for Tennessee, Copeland switched to LSU on Signing Day and was converted to FB as a freshman. He's a good-blocker in short-yardage and goal line situations, which bodes well for Cincinnati's running game. He's reminiscent of former Bengals FB John Conner, but will have to add something on special teams in the future. Luckily, with the Bengals WR stable, they have time to groom in Copeland and carve out a role for him on offense.

    Packers select with 7.193

    Avery Williamson, LB

    Ht.-Wt.: 6-1, 246

    School: Kentucky

Key stat: Led Kentucky in tackles each of the last two years, finishing in the top five in tackles in the SEC in both years.

Notable: Recorded double-digit tackles in a game 12 times in his career. Strong testing numbers at the combine, including a time of 4.66 seconds in the 40-yard dash, could push him up from the late rounds, where he was previously projected.
STRENGTHS Good size. Plays with a good, wide base. Very productive tackler. Outstanding personal and football character -- works hard, is accountable and commands respect. Smart, understands the game and can make all the calls and on-field adjustments.

As it got closer to my pick I was was really hoping he'd get here, but I didn't think there was any chance he'd still be on the board two rounds ago when I made my last pick. This is an athletic freak that could very well go in the 3rd round on draft day.

With Pick 7.197 the Cincinnati Bengals select DT Khyri Thornton of Southern Mississippi.

The Bengals wanted to add depth to their D-Line as Devon Still hasn't quite panned out to this point in his career yet. Thornton, who has a 5th round grade from NFL Draft Scout, is a potential depth replacement for Still in Cincinnati, and who better for him to learn under than Geno Atkins. A very good athlete, Thornton boasted a 4.99 40 at 6'3" 304lbs, 28 reps on the bench, a 9'4" broad jump, 4.76 shuttle time, and a 7.83 in the cone drill. Thornton could also play some 5-technique if the Bengals go toward a bigger front in short yardage situations. Received a 5th or 6th round projection from Nolan Narwocki, so again, the Bengals feel like they get a steal here.

    QB Wyoming, Brett Smith

STRENGTHS: Better athlete than given credit with deceiving mobility and very quick feet to be elusive in the pocket and avoid pressure. He has good-enough height and has worked hard to bulk up his frame, spending considerable time in the weight room. Smith scans the field quickly, works through his reads and does an excellent job recognizing soft spots in coverage pre-snap.
Gutsy competitor who plays the game of football with a chip on his shoulder and he'll win over NFL coaches with his attitude, work ethic and overall football passion.
If Smith played in the SEC or another major conference, he would be a much better known quarterback prospect.
A native of Salem, Oregon, he re-wrote the high school record books and was the 2010 Gatorade Oregon Football Player of the Year, but didn't receive much attention from Pac 12 schools. His only FBS-level offers were San Jose State and Wyoming, choosing the Cowboys and starting from day one as a freshman.

Smith leaves Wyoming with several school records, finishing his career with 76 touchdown passes and 97 scores overall. He set new career-bests in 2013 with 3,375 passing yards, a 62.7 completion percentage (293-for-467) and 29 passing touchdowns. On Nov. 23, Smith set a new Mountain West and Wyoming single-game record against Hawai'i with 640 yards of total offense (498 passing, 142 rushing) and eight total touchdowns (7 passing, 1 rushing).

Brett Will be groomed behind one of the best QBs in the NFL, and one of the friendliest OL's. What I like about Brett is his approach to the game, un afraid of anything. If guys like Chad Henne and Tim Couch had the moxy of a Brett Smith they would have had very good careers. He has something that escapes too many QBs in the league today....mental toughness. Happy to add him to our family.

With pick 7.216, the Cincinnati Bengals select QB Jordan Lynch of Northern Illinois

The Bengals use their last pick on a luxury with QB Jordan Lynch. With Joe Flacco and Matt Barkley sitting at 1 and 2, Lynch really won't have a shot to play QB. However, the Bengals saw how the Jaguars tried to use Denard Robinson in 2013 and that's what the Bengals have in mind for Jordan Lynch. One of the more decorated players in college football, Lynch was a two-time AP All-American (2012 & 2013), and finished 3rd in the 2013 Heisman Trophy voting. He led NIU to the school's first-ever BCS game; NIU was also the first MAC Conference School to make it to a BCS game.

Lynch was a safety on the gold medal winning 2009 junior national team. At 6'0" 217lbs, Lynch carried NIU for the better part of his career. The Bengals see that skillset translating to being able to play a little bit of everything including: Wildcat Trigger, fullback, running back, special teams, and perhaps being developed as a safety as well. With no major holes and some solid depth already in place, the Bengals feel this is worth a 7th round risk.
