In hindsight, Ginn has had a much better NFL career than Quinn. I'll admit that I wanted Quinn over Ginn in the 2007 draft, but Quinn certainly would not have been the answer at the QB position for the Dolphins. Basically about 50% of QB's taken in the first round end up being mediocre or a bust. Quinn would have to be considered a bust as a first round draft pick since he has a total of 12 TD passes and 17 interceptions over his 7 years in the league.
This is silly. You think Parcells wasn't on board with the Bledsoe pick? When he was overruled on Terry Glenn he started calling him, "she." And that's when he started lashing out against Kraft. Bledsoe was the #1 overall pick, hand picked by Parcells, and checked off NONE of the 4 on the checklist. So you have Chad Pennington and Chad Henne that hits the list. And Drew Bledsoe and Pat White that don't. Some checklist. I guess you can #5. First Name Chad. Yes he has a checklist that he ignored and probably invented for the TV cameras. Edit. Not sure if White passes but he violated every other Parcellian Principle.
Again, all speculation on your part and with virtually not a single shred of evidence to back it up. And Pat White did hit all 4 checks.
I don't understand why these things have stopped having discernible elements of irony, or punchlines, or anything like that.
Going by the list of thanks, several people have successfully derived the irony and punchline from the image macro.
What does the fact that it's the main forum have to do with anything? Several people laughed at the joke. Is, say, Conuficus' thanks less valuable because of the forum it's given in? This sounds suspiciously like forum racism!
One of the nice things about Jeff Ireland finally being gone is I feel absolutely no reason to comment in any more Jeff Ireland threads...except to say that I'm not going to comment in them.
Checklist. Good for TV and forum fodder. Parcells violated his own prototypes. Pat White hit the a checklist but violated Parcells position prototypes. Completely refutes your points earlier. Here is another of his "checklists" http://nflmocks.com/2012/04/24/bill-parcells-draft-confidential-recap/ Gee, more items added and I don't believe he conducted any drafts between the last checklist and this one. It is entirely possible Parcells would have signed off on someone like Tanny. Is it certain? No, but history shows 2 out of 4 qbs didn't satisfy all if his criteria and prototypes.
Nothing except the entire history of Parcells' behavior which is more than well known. I don't even need to rehash this. Parcells loves nothing more than Bill Parcells. When he is overruled on a transaction he makes it known. You know this, you're just playing your usual self so I'm not going to change your mind. When Kraft overruled his trade with Oakland to take Terry Glenn, how did he react? Called Terry "she." When Jones went behind his back to pick up TO what did he call TO? "The player." Everyone and their mother knows Parcells got his man in Bledsoe because, a) he didn't ***** and b) he said so right above in the link. Final say is irrelevant. If Parcells was on board with picking Bledsoe, he was violating his "checklist." Why is it Parcells and Kraft got along for 3 years before 1996 when they blew up? If Parcells was overruled on his very first pick for the Patriots, with the #1 overall pick, you would have heard about the groceries in 1993, not 1996. He took them to the Super Bowl in 1996 so it wasn't the lack of success that caused the rift. It was Terry Glenn. That's how petty Bill Parcells was. EDIT: Just remembered, Kraft didn't even own the Patriots when Bledsoe was drafted. Parcells was indeed the de facto GM that year. Kraft took over in 1994. The owner in 1993 was only an owner for a year at the time. It's settled. Parcells made that pick. No way he takes the job without guarantees of personnel power after his fight with George Young. The "groceries" quote doesn't even apply (and makes even more sense).
You mean he makes it known by leaving the team and citing he left because he didn't have control? Like that?
It's not even a Jeff Ireland thing, there's functionally not even a real comedic element to it. It's [introduce story] [insert picture] [note objectionable element of story] seriously this has more identifiable comedy traits and I have no idea what any of this means
I seriously have a hard time believing anyone truly laughed at that or found ironic, rather than thanked it because of the negative connotation attached to Jeff Ireland. And yes, the main forum absolutely displays less critical and analytical thinking than others.
Oh, so now my thanks is now not done so in an analytical way? I'm a lesser man because I post in the mains huh? You post in the mains too and allocate thanks as well. Oh the irony.
