Doesn't surprise or bother me. There are only 30 visits allowed. I think most of the guys you mentioned don't need to be here face to face. I'm pretty sure we didn't have DJ in for a visit ?? Of course, it's a different selection committee this year than last. I think at this time, even tho OL is a dire need, we could see ANY guy taken that drops to us, regardless of position...

It could be that the FO has less question marks about those particular players. Perhaps the ones they brought in are guys they aren't totally clear on.

It seems like there's a lot of mixed feelings about Mosley. What makes you think that? I haven't really done much homework on them but from what I've seen, Shazier is the more explosive, energetic choice. Mosley is a little boring, but seems to know exactly when and where to be to stop the RB.

He's slight of frame and has had hip knee and shoulder injuries..really to need to scope him out if were going top 20, I don't see anything explosive in his game, he's a very good coverage linebacker but I'm not sure about holding up at his size in the middle of an NFL defense..basically Id be scared to select him based on how I feel about frames relative to position.

Big medical questions with Mosley, as seems to be the case with lots of Bama prospects for whatever reason. I too prefer Shazier, though I don't know what his ideal playing weight/size is as it's been fluctuating this off-season as he goes through the evals.

the question to me is, is the medical flags related to the slight of frame, well, it's obvious he has a slight frame for the position so I'm not sure the proof is that of coincidence.

Visiting with a guy doesn't necessarily correlate with taking a guy. I think it may have been ckparrothead who noted at least one year the Bucs didn't draft anyone they visited with.

I am still not seeing why fans are enamored with Mosley. He might turn out to be a really good football player but there simply is not any evidence that he's something special. I've watched him play the last couple of years - nearly every game. He's a solid player on a great D. Go watch the tape against better teams (like LSU) and you'll see that it was often other players on the DL and other positions who made the big plays and/or allowed Mosley to be in position to make big plays. He did not show tremendous power or speed or explosiveness.

His one real positive, imo, is tackling ability. When he gets his hands on someone, they go down. That's not to be underestimated. But, whether he can take on an OG? Big Question-mark. Or whether he can pursue with speed sideline to sideline or read plays effectively ... I am not convinced he will be a great pro. I do think he is a value pick in the 2nd round but the effectiveness of Alabama's defense and the fact that he was the MLB is what has elevated him to the first round, not his dominant play.

Really? I think he's a three down linebacker.

    Only concern is health IMO.

So who would you prefer? Shazier, Borland, moving up for Barr?

Shazier can be special, but I'd rather Borland or Skov later.

I wonder how many 1st round picks in the past decade never met with the team that picked them. I think it may be a high number since the draft is poker like.

Many of the invites are players who didnt participate in the combines or college NFL pro scout camps. In other words those players whom they dont have enough info on.Many of the names mentioned were checked out at the Combines and Pro days.

I agree with you on this. Mosley would never leave the field when we're on defense. I prefer Shazier, but not sure that taking him would get Ellerbe out of the middle. I think Shazier is as rare a prospect as we've seen at WOLB since Derrick Brooks.

My gut tells me we are taking Shazier. Even though I want Mosley.

Did we attend the senior bowl this year? I seem to remember Philbin not going and Hickey barely being hired.

We surely had all our college scouts and Director of College Scouting there.

Wonder if Shazier could play the Mike? OSU seemed to usually line him up inside but not as 4-3 Mike.

This is one of those years where if we take any offensive lineman, linebacker, receiver or defensive back I'll be happy. I don't really have any favorites this year. Just get a guy who can contribute right away.
