Late season hangovers don't matter. What Indiana is experiencing is a collapse. There is a difference. The Heat had at least 5 self-inflicted losses at the end of the season. What matters is their Eff. numbers as they progress.

The 12' team finished 13-10 and had a Def. Rating of 25th int he NBA for the last 23 games. Remind me what that team did going forward?

Its not doc's fault entirely, its a very flawed roster. Blake Griffin simply isnt tough enough to be as good in the playoffs as he is in the regular season. They get very little from the SF and C positions on offense.

I'll feel more confident if Miami comes out and spanks a decent, but hopefully over-matched Charlotte team. I'm not doubting your stats here, I'm speaking of my personal confidence level. Some of the rotations on D these last few games have been embarrassingly poor and that has me worried. I know they can do better and I know they have in the past, but obviously past performance is no guarantee of future success. At this point I'll say I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm hoping to be full on cocky about their chances by this evening.

I still think the Clips take care of GSW. IMO they looked like the better team most of the time when Griffin played, he just didn't play that much. And I thought CP played like Cliff Paul a little too much. I don't expect either of those to be the norm over the full 7 games. The part I think the Clippers should be worried about is their FT shooting. They can be downright embarrassing at the line. At least Jordan only missed the whole backboard and rim once from the FT line this game.

every team has weaknesses. doc cant use that as an excuse. i disagree with you about blake. in the past i would have totally agreed with you. but he is a totally different player this year. i'd go as far as to say he's the 3rd best player in the nba. he stays out of foul trouble and this is going to be one crazy series. yesterday we didnt get to see the best of blake griffin or steph curry.

Heat still at half engine get a comfortable win.

Wade looked great. Bosh needs to get his head out of his ***. James Jones was a great move by Spo, played really well.

One thing that I find striking about the Heat is how few bad shots they take compared to most teams. It was something I really noticed this season. I've always watched games and b*tched when my team took a poor shot. But this year I noticed how much less often I do that watching Heat games compared to watching other teams. That was always one of the major differences between the young teams and the experienced teams. The experienced teams took fewer dumb shots particularly down the stretch. But it seems to me that this Heat team has taken it to another level. IMO that's what has carried the team all year even when their D has been soft.

I use to get upset with Wade's shot selection but IMO that has been his biggest improvement over the past two seasons.

I wonder why Stan Van Gundy hasn't been hired yet. I always thought he did very well with the Magic. He took them farther than they could have gone with someone else I believe.

My phone rang during the 3rd quarter of that Rockets-Blazers game...I picked it up and it was Scott Foster to give me my first PF for passing by my TV and looking at James Harden a little funny. Harden then nailed both FT's.

Even if he blamed management, he'd still have to be confident Woodson was the guy to get the job done. I agree with his lack of confidence.

Me too. His increase in efficiency is nothing short of remarkable. He regularly passes up shots that he used to try. I imagine that Spoelstra has given him very precise shot charts and steered him towards the areas where he is most often successful. IMO he's also become more efficient on D. He always had a tendency to gamble. It paid off with steals on passes to players covered by others, but also resulted in his cover getting free. Wade could shut a guy down when focused, but those gambles were often maddening. I see less of that this year.

The refs will **** portland even more game 2. They came out and said the 6th foul on Dwight should have been on Freeland. I agree but why announce it? Lopez 6th foul was garbage too, and Howard travelled before it. Why not announce that missed call too...the NBA wants Houston desperately to win this series

I completely agree. There were some sketchy foul calls on both sides last night. Since my team isn't in the playoffs (and won't be for the next few years), I look for teams to root for, and Portland is one of those teams. I like the make up of that team.
