Rookie thinks he is punishing TB for not picking fast enough. I'm sure that TB GM is in his room pouting right now.
The only GMs that get punished by a team taking a long time, are the ones that are actually around waiting to pick. The ones that take a long time themselves are obviously in no rush and could care less if other teams sit on the clock.
The Commish thought if Roger could stretch the draft to 3 days then a week for the first round must be better! This time last year we were done with the draft and were just wrapping up the undrafted FA process.
I feel like the draft has taken a lot longer this year than it usually does. If I remember correctly the first round usually goes by pretty quickly. It starts to drag on a little later, but usually everyone is excited to make their first round picks.
It's because Paul switched up the schedule thinking it would provide more anticipation by allowing more time between picks in the first round. However because the draft tends to work in waves until someone holds it up... It didn't exactly pan out like he wanted it to I'm guessing. It's been slow but I think that was the idea... Slow down the first round where the high profile picks are made.
Unfortunately, it's been the rare Paul misstep. These drag outs are brutal especially with the later start to the draft. Kinda interested to see how everyone is affected once the speed picks up dramatically with round 2 etc after such a long slow start.
He was trying to create trades but the 3 hour rule is only for the first round so things will hopefully pick up in round 2. Also to be fair, last year the real draft was earlier so this draft was earlier. This year they pushed the draft back, so Paul pushed the draft back giving us a longer trading period.
Not trying to whine - thanks to sinnergreg's ridiculous stunt, this place has really just slowed down to almost a halt. Doesnt seem like people have the same amount of enthusiasm or energy as they did before that. No offense to paul, but i wish we could move this a long a little faster -
Ok, random conversation - I have a 2008 altima - looking to get something more fun - I like the Mini's and the beetle's but I also have eyes for a used Porsche Cayenne -- thoughts?
If I had a vagina, the new mini coopers look cool and different. I do know they handle ridiculously well.
aye... the draft being pushed back to May in the NFL certainly has an affect on us here. Not like I didn't warn you back in late January early February when many of you were clamoring for me to release your team so you could get going with your trades. There's two things though that I think I accomplished this year... one, starting free agency here a week or whatever it was before the NFL made for an interesting comparison between the two. Same thing with the draft. Although here in the past, we've started and finished the draft before the NFL. I was just looking for a truer test of ones ability to find talent rather than just copy what the NFL does on both fronts. The lull between the two was certainly an issue though. And with the NFL looking to push the draft even further back than where it is now, this issue is not going to go away. It's been pushed back two weeks compared to the start of free agency from 2014 to 2013. Two weeks is a long time in this league. The other option would have been to start the draft sooner than we did. But I kind of wanted to give us much time for the pro days to take place and still squeeze in the draft before the NFL started theirs. Anyway, 2nd round starting on Monday, and it'll go by much faster after that.
I love my 2013 highlander (toyota) but I also just saw you have a pathfinder so that might be kind of redundant. Im not a cutesy car kind a guy so the beetle and mini are trash to me and I especially dislike volkswagon since everyone who seems to drive one around here seems to be the worst driver in the general vicinity....and by that I mean they seem to be the ones doing 50 in the left lane...very disrespectful It depends if youre looking for a small car, mid-size or a truck. I test drove the Camry, Chevy Traverse and Equinox before getting my Highlander. I didnt dislike any of them, and the only thing that stopped me from seriously considering a Traverse was the fact my salesperseon was a prick, as was his manager so I didnt want to do business with that dealership and I wasnt driving 50-60 miles just to negotiate a price with another dealership when I was pretty sure I wanted the Highlander all along. One thing I might recommend will be starting the league later if we keep the draft at the same time as the NFL or just pushing back the dates for all the tags, tenders etc. We will talk about rule adjustments Im sure just mentioning that one before I forget.
Maybe a Hyundai Genesis? I'm not usually one to suggest a Hyundai, but the Genesis is great stuff from what I heard.
