So should we expect you for next years league? Maybe you can give us an answer by the time Todd picks? That gives about 360 days to think over your decision....

Ironically, Ealy was going to be my pick before I traded for Clowney.

So, is Kaepernick's tears going to be on the market as well?

Thought that was where he was going when talking scheme fits.

So far this draft has no real surprises.

Nope I don't have a flaccid willy problem where I berate it for hours on end. Then again, if my willy saw what Fin-O's sees, it probably wouldn't wanna get up either.

you needed Clowney more than I did. I would've done that trade in a heartbeat if I were in your shoes.

As far as the trade itself goes, on paper it's a little lopsided in your favor, but in real life application it's a win for both of us since I already have a starting LEO DE and lose virtually nothing from an interior nickel rushing standpoint going from Clowney to Ealy, which is where they'd be spending a considerable amount of time with Wake & Miller rushing off the edge.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting Clowney to be available for me. I'm just glad that I got my DE's straight. Seriously, with Clowney and Vernon Starting, with Clemons and Shelby backing them up, my D-line became beastly. And the best part? Tom Brady's nightmare is NOT over yet.

If anyone is interested post 3 of the draft thread is now the pick distribution post. So if youre not sure if a player is gone at a particular position, that'll be where you find it....

No surprise it's WR heavy. I have a feeling if you want a WR that you planned to go in the early 2nd...you might want to jump into the 20's.

Good pick. Was hoping he'd slide down into my range. Not a need but I would have snagged him regardless.

Kony Ealy? Really? He isn't even close to the player Clowney is IMO. Can't believe you would trade one of the elite prospects in the draft for a very questionable DE. Congrats to the Dolphins on making an outstanding trade.

Love me some Shazier. Wont be unhappy if we selected him in the real draft. I'm kinda torn on Either Mosley or Moses with Shazier as a dark horse.

was hoping that mosley would fall, but shazier was in my top 5( for being at 21) all along. I really went back and forth between him and Dennard. Hageman was a distant 3rd. Overall, Im pretty happy. Ryan is a pretty dynamic player - he played DE in HS so he has some edge moves and can run in coverage. Cant beat a 3 down LB.

If all goes well we might have an outside shot at wrapping up the first round on Wednesday as long as folks don't hold things up.

Wasn't a huge fan of Shazier. I consulted with a respected Buckeye fan who also told me he wasn't a big fan of Shazier. I think he has a lot of talent and I think it was a very solid pick. Very interested to see how he can perform in the NFL.

It's easy to feel that way if you look at it in a vacuum as if scheme fit and current roster don't matter. Obviously Kony Ealy isn't the same player Clowney is; that's why it wasn't a straight up trade of Clowney for Ealy. However, when you look at the variables in play, it's easy to see why I would do the trade. More than anything I need a Michael Bennett replacement. That means I need a strong side end who can reduce down to interior nickel rusher. That's not Clowney. It's Ealy.

Clowney's natural position in Seattle is at LEO which is already occupied by Cam Wake. Therefore Clowney would be more of a rotational player at the position rather than the full time starter he'd be in Miami. Seattle already has 2 elite edge rushers in Wake & Von Miller, so those are more snaps that Clowney won't see or doesn't NEED to see. All of this diminishes Clowney's value.

Seattle loves its NASCAR package and getting interior pressure against the pass. That was my biggest reason for drafting Clowney after having lost my two primary interior pressure guys [Bennett & Clinton McDonald] b/c it was my team's greatest need and I wasn't gonna leave the draft without grabbing one among Clowney, Donald, or Ealy. Now, when you isolate interior pass rush ability, Ealy is an elite prospect in this regard and roughly on par with Clowney, so it makes little difference to me if the interior pressure comes from Ealy instead of Clowney. After drafting Donald, Clowney became more of a luxury. You know what's not a luxury? The guy who can also rush from the interior but provide the added benefit of playing strong side end and thus allowing Seattle to maintain optimal scheme flexibility and utilizing multiple fronts which is paramount to their success, not forgetting the extra player I'll be adding in a few picks.

And I couldn't disagree further that Ealy is a questionable end. He has a weakside end's ability in a strong side end's body who can kill it from the interior in nickel. That's pretty far from questionable. His interior nickel ability alone is worth close to a 1st rounder, and that's what I need more than a guy to rotate with Wake. If you think Ealy is very questionable as a strong side end, then what does that make Clowney as a strong side end? super duper very questionable?

I don't think it's a value pick at this point. It's not a reach by any means but definitely not a value pick.

    Sorry to harsh the buzz...
