Still debating on Cam Jordan Auction... but in 2nd Place was:

    No Reserve Auction For:

    Curtis Lofton - LB - $5,200,000

Auction ends on Thursday, 03 April at 23:59 EST.

Bids are public in this thread and comprised of draft picks only... best total draft pick value wins.

    Post away.

**Only caveat, I DO reserve the right to extend the auction 12 hours if I feel there was a "sniper" bid at the last minute... probably won't happen, but just in case. I don't want someone who was plain the game straight up to get jipped because somebody raised the bid a 7th at the last minute.**

Define "sniper bid". I dont think I did that with Sproles. I genuinely had to update my team page and my salary situation to see if Id have room.

Is 305 subjectively determining value or is he using a value chart? I'm curious because 4.126 + 5.141 (Fin-O's page isn't updated with any 6) is slightly less than 4.106 using ESPN's value, but extremely close.

The auction ended at midnight. You even posted a reminder about it yesterday [see above post #14]. Nobody came in with a "last minute sniper bid". If UCF wanted Lofton, he knew the rules, knew the auction was over at midnight, and had ample opportunity to come in with a higher bid, just as I had every opportunity to bid again on Steven McLendon in the Cut Bidding Thread because, as per the established bidding rules, I understood I had X amount of time left to top FFG's $4.5M bid or else Michelle would win him. Curtis Lofton is a Seahawk.

    Read below:

Bidding with 56 minutes remaining is considered "snipping". You had 3 days to bid but you waited until the last minute

Curtis Lofton is a Saint until I accept a trade in the Official Trade forum, period. This is a trade, not free agency.

    No, you read the caveat.
Do you know the difference between a minute and an hour? 305 CLEARLY says "at the last minute", not "at the last hour". I left you an hour to bid but you irresponsibly didn't. Then you wanna come in here throwing insults like a fifth grader? That's rich coming from the guy who bid 5 points higher than PSG [raising his 3.71 to a mere 3.72]. You had THREE days to give your BEST offer if you really wanted Lofton and didn't want someone to outbid you, and you KNEW the auction was over at midnight, so stop crying about it b/c it didn't turn out how you wanted.

As for me waiting till 11 o'clock, I had to ensure I had enough cap space to cover Lofton's 5.2M salary, and as you can see in the Free Agency thread, I was quite busy the past few days trying to fill out my roster to make sure I'd have enough money left over to add Lofton.

No, it's a NO RESERVE AUCTION with a very specific ending date. What part about your original post do you not understand?

...and LOL at you posting at 8 AM that you're extending the auction another 4 hours after UCF's 6 hour late bid. Talk about a massive lack of integrity. Not to mention it's a hypocritical disregard of your "last minute sniping" caveat. What do you call UCF's 5 point raise, not minutes before the auction ended, but AFTER it ended? That's sniping at it's worst. It doesn't even allow anyone checking the thread at 11:58 an opportunity to up the bid if they so desired. Not only did you want to allow UCF's gross sniping attempt but clearly wanted to reward it by announcing at 8 AM that you were extending the auction by a mere 3 hours and 58 minutes despite half this forum probably not even logging in before noon today.

If you knew your intentions were dishonest from the start by caring more about jumping into bed with UCF and by having no desire to follow through with your "no reserve auction", then you should've listed that as a caveat as well so that any GM who wanted to take your thread seriously would've known to not worry about doing stuff like making sure they'd have the necessary cap space to sign Lofton or spending 11pm-midnight with an eye on the bidding.

LOL. So from the start you planned on ignoring the rules of the auction by offering a bid 6 hours too late and then expecting to win with that late bid?

Man up dude. You had PLENTY of time to get a bid in but you DIDN'T. Only a whiny twit who thinks the world owes him would even attempt to throw in a bid 6 goddam hours after an auction ends. I'd love to see you request EBAY to provide you such a privilege. I checked back periodically until 11:59 to see if you upped the bid so that I could counter if I wanted. You had the same opportunity.

Just imo there was no sniper bid. He clearly defined what he considered a sniper bid in post 3 after I asked him. But he's also not obligated to accept anyone's offer since it's still a trade even one with no reserve

When the clock doesn't reset after a bid, you can consider it a snipe when it's done in the last hour. Not everyone is logging in every hour.

    Just IMO.

then it shouldn't be listed as as "No Reserve Auction". It might be a "trade" per se, but it's no different than any other auction bidding. EBAY for example involves trading money for goods. When you post a No Reserve Auction auction you're contractually obligated to adhere to it unless cancelled prior to the auction ending. Now, clearly sellers on EBAY can renege, too, just as 305 attempted, but it's condoned upon, receives damaging negative feedback, and EBAY can and does go after the seller to ensure the integrity of the sale. By 305 listing it as a "No Reserve Auction" rather than a highest bid trade, he contractually sold Lofton to the existing highest bidder the moment the auction ended. Period. He even went so far as listing a caveat that could allow him to extend the auction, but that caveat was not met. Just as EBAY [or PayPal] would push to ensure a proper transaction, the GM League here should do the same. For instance, if a seller reneged in any auction site, if he weren't forced to render the goods sold, he'd at the minimum be prevented from re-listing or reselling that item.

So glad we found someone cool enough to take over a vacant team, just so he can be pestered and called out.
