Great political drama with intrigue and deception. Stars Kevin Spacey. I recommend it. Netflix Original though.
Peterson and Higgins both have experience in a football operations capacity. We know that Peterson had involvement in assembling a list of candidates for the Miami GM position. Why do we believe that Dan Marino has the ability to compile a list of GM candidates at the drop of a hat? What experience does he have in that regard, nevermind experience that indicates he would do a better job than Peterson?
you pretend like the media doesn't shove a microphone in his face whenever they can. like he has a choice to stop talking to the media.
As opposed to what? You want him being our GM and deciding who we draft and such? How is he qualified to do such a thing? Yet... te fan base is clamoring for him to be hired...
No you can't. That's a huge part of what makes someone a good public speaker. That's like saying you don't have to be a good cook to cook a 7 course meal good enough for royalty. The sheer amount of money he's put into this and is going to put into this, makes it an absurd notion that he's just playing around. You could just as easily view this as he's a man who isn't good at public speaking, who is sparring no expense in trying to make this team great again. As I said, most owners don't even talk to the media or public. The ones that do, however, have always been severe meddlers in the football stuff, from Jerry Jones to Al Davis to Jim Irsay. At the very least we have a guy that stays out of the team's way and genuinely gives a crap because he'll spend whatever he has to and try anything to get better.
The man is funding 400 mill for the worst venue in sport, so I appreciate his intentions, and his willingness to open his pockets for the team, thing is, an owner has to know how to hire front office positions, we'll see this year..these are his guys now.
I hope Dan doesn't take any position with the Dolphins. The first mistake he makes all the fans will be all over him. If he does I'll root for him all the way, but I hope he doesn't take any position He's done enough for this team, I wish Ross would let it go.
Keep in mind that Marino is currently unemployed. It's not like we'd be forcing him to take any position. Im sure he's got money and all, but something tells me he wouldn't be thrilled sitting at home doing nothing. Besides, he won't have any real power in any situation. We already have people in those positions. If he wants power, he could certainly put himself in a good spot to be considered for it eventually, but no way is he handed any real power right away. Professional face of the club is what his job would be, though they'd obviously call it something different.
Its true, we'll see. He may turn out to be horrible. I just take exception to the notion that he doesn't care or only kinda cares.
I think we have Matt Millen as an example.Loved as a player ,hated as a FO employee. I think the best Marino could do for the Dolphins is as an ambassador .He has enough prestige among current players particularly FAs to present a case to players in favor of joining the Dolphins .There is not a nickel of prestige and credibility representing the org at the current time.It is sorely lacking and Marino could bring that to the table.
Well Dan is without a job and needs one now that, he is no longer in TV. But wonder if he will accept huh?
Jesse is no longer with the team. That is unfortunately not an April Fool's joke. It is...sigh...Congemi's job now.
Yea, Agler left to go work for the Padres a few months ago. I miss him as he really made the finsiders enjoyable Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Dan Marino on Monday confirmed interest in working for the Dolphins and said Pittsburgh is the only other team he would work for. A friend of Marino said a job on the Dolphins’ football side appeals to him, and meeting with free agents could be one element. But the question is how much, if any, road work and scouting Marino would be willing to do. And if he’s expecting final say on personnel, that’s not going to happen. As noted in this space Sunday, owner Stephen Ross said he plans to talk to him. Read more here: http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/#storylink=cpy
At this stage in the offseason, I wouldn't want him involved with the team. We've hired a GM, we've given the coach another year, why bring Marino in now? If we had an owner who could make a decision or dare I say, be prepared for a reporter's question, we might actually hear him say something different... other than "I plan on talking to Dan..." He should have already talked to him the moment he left CBS. At least had an idea of things moving forward from that point on. It's just more bumbling wafflism... (yes I made that phrase up)...
I can see Marino coming to the Dolphins and working in a role similar to what Nat Moore now has with the organization. I think his role would probably be more public relations, as opposed to having any real influence over the football operations. I just don't think Ross would hire Marino for a position which would mean Philbin, or Hickey reported to Marino. Marino was a great NFL Quarterback, but I just don't see him as someone I would want making major football decisions for my football team.
First off Ross isn't about to hire anyone here to advise him about anything concerning FB; Dan's value thru your eyes versus his value seen from Stephen's POV, who clearly has no FB knowledge, would give him someone he values to advise him in those matters. So is he good enough or not will be assessed when they meet and greet, just as Ross stated.
