There is no doubt that players like Carr, Quinn, Leinart and Vince Young were colossal busts... but their coaching and front office/management played a huge role to their failures in my opinion. With the right coaching/GM, I'm positive at least two of them would be franchise quarterbacks right now. The team has to be completely invested in your growth to make it in this league. Take Alex Smith for example, the guy was labeled a bust with a capital B, and Harbaugh went all in and said this guy is my quarterback and turned his career around. I think the same could be done with the other 4 had they have been lucky to be in a situation where a team is 100% invested in them.
I won't be disappointed no matter who they pick. I know this may not be popular, but mock drafts and tracking players that may or may not play for the team is just a giant waste of time and expectation, IMO. I waste my time in other ways, lol I'm excited to see who we pick and read up about the players afterwards, but the lead-up to the draft is a circle jerk imo The only thing that really matters is if the guys drafted help win games this fall. I won't know that until then and maybe not even then. By that measure I have no reason to feel disappointment
So you are saying that a 3rd and 6th rounder is what our pick #19 is worth? If that's the case let's trade for pick 20 and keep pick 19
I usually have my opinions on players predraft, and unless I see something that totally freaks me out where I just feel confident he's a bust, no matter if it was my guy or some others, I never underestimate a players potential once they wear the uniform and never overestimate my own analysis..re slate pretty much, give equal oppurtunity to prove me right or wrong.
Yeah I think it's cool to target a few players. I did a lot more than usual when it was clear we were going to get a QB. i watched a lot of Tanny clips on Youtube and some others like Weeden and RG3. I think your approach is a healthy one. I'm making a real effort to minimize my negativity with this team and not fall prey to hearsay, rumor and innuendo. Despite all the info that gets pushed around and refreshed, we are still limited to really knowing what goes on behind closed doors. Heck, it took Jeff Ireland getting fired for us to know what was happening with him and Aponte and Philbin and all that. It kinda makes you wonder WTF you were arguing about for the past 6 years I get enough pain watching the losses, lol. I don't need to be getting upset in May about this team.
