He had a nice story with a girl who had cancer and he invited her and her family to games and kept in touch, was on espn
He gonna piss on him in his hospital bed? As long as he doesn't rack up the fines, I like this signing.
Well, I could post his PFF slot performance metrics from 2011, but I guess GMJohnson would just respond and say they don't mean anything. According to them, he was excellent in the slot that year. Prior to 2011 he didn't play slot. In 2012, his 3 ints all came when playing slot corner and the passer rating against him was 77. His lone int in 2013 also came when playing slot.
I like it. Low risk, low cost, veteran who has something to prove. He plays tough and quite frankly, this defense needs some toughness and attitude.
Maybe he does. I will say this... Finnegan, when he's healthy and at the top of his game, is better than anyone we've had at CB not names Grimes over the last couple of seasons. Aside from his dirty play, he's everything you want. This signing has real boom-or-bust potential. However, all character questions aside, I fully expect him to start opposite Grimes week 1, if he's healthy. I don't think he'll have much problem beating out Taylor and Davis.
I like what he had to say about helping out younger guys and learning from Grimes. Saying all the right things at least. I will say that stupid penalties at bad times of a game really drive me crazy.
There weren't any highlights on that video. Maybe it would be more prudent to watch something before commenting on it. I was questioning your use of the term "punk" and stand by it. He may be a nasty SOB and a cheap shot artist on the field, but he's certainly no punk.
Like what I see. Heckuva bowler. And a man whose mother would make Jonathan Martin cry. (ok, that was my last parting shot; promise)
I'm a glutton for punishment I guess, and lately TooGoodForDez has had some sensible posts sometimes.
I'll be alright with it as long as this was a guy Coyle wanted. Not a fan of Coyle as DC............but the man knows his defensive backs and if he says he can work with Finnegan I'll give him the benefit of doubt.
I agree on Browner. But we will have to see the difference in actual contracts. If the cost is close then we should have gone after browner.
The level of judgment on character here is amazing. "Let the one without ..." My view is, even tho I despised him on other teams, he is a dolphin, he's not raping women like sharper, and we don't know what he will be like here. Bottom line is he has to show character here and play winning football.
Building through the draft is always priority but the fact is, there's no way we're going to plug 4 rookies on our offensive line, or even two. That's going to get Tannehill killed. We have to plug some players and they might as well be solid players at the holes we have until we draft someone to replace them. I think with Finnegan's salary though, it already kinda tells me they're not confident about Davis/Taylor's future in the NFL. I would rather have saved the money and have Davis/Taylor battle it out for the second CB spot, use that money on bidding for Dietrich-Smith.. But Evan would obviously have to have initial interest in us..
signed with the Bucs already. I hate to say it, but they are looking tough with the team they have and Lovie getting everyone(and their Mother) to play for them.
They got a bunch of nice players but... they don't have a quarterback. They're praying that Bortles goes to #7.
LOL. Do you really think a player would pick the Dolphins over the Patriots all things considered? And how on earth are the Dolphins in a position to pay a player that is already going to miss 25% of the regular season.
The only thing I don't like about Finnegan is that no matter how good he plays, his reputation will precede him tot he point where he'll never get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to calls by the refs.
Should fit in to what we have seen the last 5 years then. Too much banging heads on the new GM doing what we have been calling for the last few seasons. I don't get it... The draft hasn't even happened yet.
I guess every once in a while my favorite teams have to have a player that I can't stand. Until recently with the Magic it was 'Big Baby' Davis. Now with the Phins it's Finnegan. Hopefully he gives me a reason to change my mind this season.
I did watch it... it most definitely was a highlight reel. A fluff piece created to make him look good. Just what a highlight reel is. You're assuming you know more than you actually do. You might have a different definition of a punk, but, that's exactly what a punk is to me. The way he plays is disrespectful of other professional players. You don't sucker-punch people you respect in the back of the head when their helmets fall off just to win a game. Maybe you think that's ok, but I don't.
I'm just curious... do you think he's earned that reputation, or have his detractors collectively made the whole thing up? Honest question. I know my answer, but, I'm curious how you see it. That's an honest question for everyone here, btw.
The team by the end of last season had zero intensity. We badly need players who really want to win and leave it all on the field like Brandon Gibson and Cortland Finnegan. If he can get back to performing like he did prior to getting hurt we got a great deal and a very fine CB.
