He was in the first year back off an ACL which is always the toughest.

And a Zone/Cover 2 like Tampa played, and that Lovie Smith is going to play allows a lot of underneath stuff.

He was still really good, but he's not "Revis Island" unless he's allowed to lock up with a guy.

As long as he doesn't allow Ted Ginn on his island then I'm good with it.

Honestly, I'd take Vontae Davis over Revis. You get almost the same talent for half the asking price. If Davis wasn't available though, then Revis is a no-brainer....sign the guy.

    You're serious? Really?

And I like Vontae, but come on.

I don't want anything to do w Vontae. One strong year, big price tag, known for immaturity and not being the sharpest knife. No thanks.

I'd take Verner in a heartbeat though. He'll probably be close to Revis' price I'm guessing.

Everyone's argument here is based on Revis being the #1 corner by PFF. If you buy into that at all, then you also have to buy into Davis being the #3 corner by PFF...only slightly behind Grimes overall. Now, I know Vontae has some maturity issues BUT Revis has just as many diva issues. At the end of the day, Davis is more coachable and available at half price.

So yeah, I'm dead serious...I'd take Vontae and another FA over Davis any day of the week. For those of you that question that, just ask yourself why NY and Tampa would be willing to part with the best cornerback in football...and even consider cutting him if they can't get a trade. I'm not saying that I wouldn't be thrilled with Revis either, but from a happy locker room standpoint I think Davis is the much better signing.

I don't base my opinion on what pff rated Revis last year, it only confirms what I've been saying since his 2nd year, best I've ever seen.

Is Aqib still in the market? If we aren't going to sign a DT I would like to pick up another high caliber CB..

I think $10 million a year is certainly much more reasonable than the $16 million per year he's scheduled in Tampa. That was not a sustainable contract and it was a questionable decision for Mark Dominik and Dennis Hickey to trade a 1st round pick to Revis and then give him $16 million per year. Tampa is making the right call by trying to trade him or cutting him if nobody wants the trade.

But once Revis makes it to market and the leverage is reset, if he commanded $10 million per year I think it would be a negotiation you could listen in on. You've just got to know that you don't want to stretch the effective length of the contract (effective length as opposed to superficial length) beyond 3 years because he'll be 29 years old next year.

Why would you want Revis?! Don't you remember how Ted Ginn burned him?! ;)

Maybe because he's arguably the best ever at the position, and hasn't fell off the cliff yet?

And with regard to Ginn...the sun even shine's on a dog's *** every now and then.

Watching Revis last year - especially in the Bucs training camp and then on the field - he simply looked out of shape. If you are a CB, you need to have a very low fat level. He had a gut that was reminiscent of Eddie Lacy on Green Bay. That's fine if you are a power RB. Horrible if you are a CB.

I think that we'd need to check him out and see what kind of shape he was in (maybe even work a weight clause into his contract). In fact, I'd ask him to come in for a work out. He may decline but I think it's fair if you are going to pay that much. See what his shape is; see what his speed is and then go from there. If his speed is there or very close, and he appears to be in shape - I would definitely go for it.

They are bizarre this year, letting good talent go and bringing in other guys. Don't get it especially w/ their deep pockets.

How does Darrelle Revis feel about a Jets reunion? I'm told he would love to play for Rex & his old team again. Emphasis on "love." #nyj

If he goes back that ain't going to be good for us, no coach knows how to get the most out of Revis than Rex.

Woody Johnson would rather chew off his right arm than sign Revis to another contract.

PFT was just saying that...good though going to the Pats will suck just as well.

Revis has no problem going to FA again next March. There will be someone willing to pay his price.
