I may have missed it, but is the church that burnt down the same one as the one they visited? They went to the one in the tent to learn about Rianne. The one that burnt down was where Dora Lange went to, and where they found the paintings on the wall. Were these the same church? They moved to the tent after?
Pretty obvious to me the Tuttles WERE the cult, but since the tape didn't show anyone (and that Tuttle was now dead, as was Childress) not much they could do. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
This article best sums up my feelings about the show. http://douthat.blogs.nytimes.com/20...of-true-detective/?_php=true&_type=blogs&_r=0 Exactly what I feel. Mysteries need a reveal. They don't need a plot twist, which is different. Nic P has made it known he detests plot twists (think, Sixth Sense or The Usual Suspects). But mysteries all revolve around a reveal and we didn't get one here that matched the sprawling conspiracy built up in the first 7 episodes. The reveal doesn't have to be, all 10 cultists end up behind bars. As I stated on another page, the reveal could just give a glimpse. A peek into who was responsible, even if they get away. In the Marie Fontenot video, there are 10 guys, according to Nic P. One was probably Rev Tuttle. And then ... we don't even know their identity. How they got into this, why they did it, nothing. Absolutely nothing. We gotan incestual TV mimicking hick who is so meticulous he was able to conceal dozens of murders but got paint on both of his ears and didn't wipe it off. Great show nonetheless, just #8 was very very small compared to what was built up before it. The finale keeps the show from being brilliant/one of the GOAT
Good post, and I agree with you. Remember the final scene in Zodiac when.. Spoiler Gyllenhaal's character stares at Leigh while in the hardware store? Even something like that would have made for a more complete ending
IMO he did give the audience that glimpse. He took us inside the evil lair. He showed us the yellow kings altar. He implied that Rust was connected to the evil behind it all. It touched him. He saw the birds in that strange formation. He heard the voices inside the lair. He witnessed the vortex. People are dismissing those things as simple halucinations that are side effects of his past drug abuse. It was the dark force talking to Rust that gave him those visions. It was the same type of visions that others shared. That is why the show had the reoccuring symbolism taking place. Think of it like a dark poison spreading through all of their souls. Again it is also a very Lovecraft like trait to frame the ancient evil existing right under everyones noses without being identified correctly. The one thing I do find myself in agreement with you on is your criticism of the green ears clue and how that wound up leading them to the killer. That was a huge leap in logic to make that connection.
Yeah, I'd rather they say he wore green ear protectors (like lawnmowers use) and connect that somehow. Green paint on ears of meticulous mass murderer and professional painter. Welp, everyone is allowed to lapse once in a while. Lol
. Yeah...then your cat slices up your stomach and tries to chew your ****ing balls off until your room ate runs over and breaks it's neck
This summarizes exactly what I have been saying. And it's from the New Yorker, so it has to be smart http://www.newyorker.com/online/blo...he-art-of-the-television-finale.html?mobify=0
True. Buuuuuuutttttttttt.....i keep my man bush neatly trimmed, and I think we all know that Woody Harrelson does not. And THAT is how you get a bunch of guys picturing Woody Harrelson's junk while they make a face that looks like Woody Harrelson....
Not sure if anyone has seen this, but decent interview with the director: http://www.vulture.com/2014/03/true-detective-finale-director-cary-fukunaga-interview.html
The finale was disappointing. The show was too smart and interesting to end with two cops chasing a stereotypical hillbilly through a Halloween Horror Nights maze.
Just got to watch the last two episodes. Green ears to green house paint? That was a reach and poorly acted. Rushed. Carcosa to me, was horrifying. Would like to of seen more people go down but thats just me. Overall an A+
That's not my wife's head is it? I'll be upset if it is. I'm not a big fan of surprises, so just tell me, ok? I promise not to be mad.
This is exactly what I think of the show.
