Who is the true and rightful King of Homers? FinD and GMJohnson are grappling for the throne.

FinD = Joffrey, GMJohnson = Stannis?

Never said the two acts were comparable.

But both brought unwarranted and negative attention to the team. The coach, as the face of the organization, is obligated to show himself and account for what happened.

so the reality is then this really has nothing to do with the report is what you are saying Joe. Turner is a crappy OL coach and he shoulds be gone and THAT is what will appease you ?

I'd say this whole thing is that because we are all emotionally and to a very lesser degree financially invested (programing, games and gear) that we feel as tho we are entitled to communication from certain parts of the team obviously lead on by the media. WE MUST HAVE ANSWERS NOW!! pffft! the reality is they have to justify themselves to only the NFL and what we get is what we get. the response from us is the same as it is for any other form of entertainment, if you don't like it don't support it. change the channel.

or as ross puts it, "skammittee."

Look, we can't be that surprised about philbin's non-action. The moment I watched HKnocks and saw his inability to look his players in the eye I knew he wasn't a leader. Same thing with wanny cutting Dan. They were appointed their HC jobs.

true. hard knocks told me alot too. i was laughing the entire time the leadership counsel scene was happening. it was like the most uncomfortable thing i have ever seen. you have to wonder how his job interview went with ross. it bet it was pure comedy. an idiot talking to a mute.

Is it really so strange that I want the team I support to be known for doing the right things? Forget about expediency, I want Turner gone because he's a ****ty person. This is my team, it's in my heart, and I don't want someone so crass and clueless in a position of authority.

You're choosing to minimize the importance of this; does that make the problem inherently less important? No.

and I'm not disagreeing with you. i want what's best for the team but after years of this team being insignificant and being upset and disappointed I've realized my place as a fan. I think the Oline was crap start to finish but as a fan I'm not sold that is entirely on Turner. I may not like the antics behind the scene but I have no idea if the Olines lackluster ability is his coaching or a lack of talent and cohesion. I think that the Phins hedged their bet bringing in another Oline coach as basically a quality control coach.

as for the debacle that has been spurred on unnecessarily on several parts, I'm ok waiting for the NFL and then the Phins to make their announcements. if I do not like what I see or hear, as a fan, i can vocally disagree and then I have the choice to keep following knowing I don't agree or I can stop following. I'd rather send a message that Ross gets than support some hacks that are upset with the lack of transparency they feel should be there for them.

I think we can almost agree that there were lines crossed, that they were that of the punishable kind, there was a lack of compassion involved, and that the consequences are going to end up being to severe for someone who did not have malicious intent.

I just want the coach to navigate us thru so we can have some sense of closure, which would require speaking up and leading no?

Bullygate not withstanding, I'd be more concerned if he is actually a good coach. Right now I have some serious doubts and you could argue he is the worst coach in the AFC East. Sparano had more success in his first two years than Philbin has. And Sparano had Chad Henne as his QB in his second year as coach. I think it's safe to say that Tannehill is way better than Henne. There are coaches that could get away with the silent treatment after a story like this. Philbin isn't one of them.

Right...winning games is not priority #1 for an NFL head coach. How he's perceived by the media is far more important. Parcells, who was a pretty damn sucessful HC begs to differ. And, Belichick will leave a legacy of his presser appearances that far surpass his ability on the sidelines. Yep, ok.

Watching football ??? For what??? Just watch the post game press conference of the head coach....or any of his pressers for that matter . The actual games are irrelevant. What really matters is the head coaches ability to kiss the media`s asses and play nice to the ladies and gentlemen who hold the miniature recorders. Why on earth would you waste your time watching an NFL game when wins and losses are so minor in comparison?

Yes sir, my friend you`ve been watching football for all the wrong reasons all these years. Now, don't you feel silly?

Yes sir, you've been gone for a long time Nabo, GM is smart, has a good eye for talent, and is always fair, he's not someone who creates his opinion from the news, he will wait before giving his opinion on things because he's not in a competition.

I've rarely seen anyone be more ****ty to other members here as SOP. Look at his posts, find where he exceeds one sentence and even rarer, when that one sentence isn't about another poster here instead of the topic. Then say that again.

Him and the others like him are bad enough, but when thoughtful people like you enable that behavior it's discouraging.

I think we are waiting for the reaction from the league before saying anything in public but I agree that its a mistake. Maybe they have been told to keep the commentary down until fines/suspensions are handed out, who knows. Me, I would have spoken out about the report by now. Taking a few days to read and digest the report, contact the league, meet as a team and come up with a media strategy is fine, even smart, but if Philbin is actually planning on not speaking to the media until March then he's a sad person of low character who shouldn't be leading men.

but the point could also be made that Sporano and Ireland were created together from the same cloth, they made a similar mundane product from a similar philosophy. Philbin and Ireland were not. I have no idea if Philbin is a good coach, I know I see his effort to create his product with what he has been given and someone else s core.

He's been here for years, we all have our moments of losing our patience, I've seen consistency and fairness in the way he treats people and his analysis..when he does lose it, I'm sure like all of us, someone could interpret that as being a really opinionated, and fact, it doesn't matter who you are, he will not back down in any shape or form, even when I disagree with him, he's always shown me nothing but respect.

Look at his last 20 posts and say that with accuracy. It's not one instance, it's a pattern of ambush and derision.

And yeah, he's been nice to you; you're a homer and he's a homer! And I say that with all the affection of having known you for almost 10 years in these spaces.

    Try disagreeing with him.

Closure would be awesome yet I see media types doing any and everything to keep the story going and Philbin making a statement would help help them to prolong it even more. The team will take some criticism for going mute but if that helps kill the narrative then IMO it's a small price to pay.

Mando is such a monumental dick. With possible lawsuits and league sanctions pending, does anyone really think that Philbin or anyone else in authority is going to utter word one without the lawyers vetting every syllable for hours, let alone hold a press conference? What an agent provocateur. If I were Philbin, I'd never speak to him again.

The Miami dolphins owe the public an explanation, the customers are their boss. Joe Philbin has one boss - S Ross. If the public wants Joe PHilbin to take a stand at the podium, he's allowed to do so when his boss says it's okay, just like any other major corporation. Now if Philbin becomes a great winning coach and becomes the face of the franchise (like Belicheck) then I'll see it differently and my expectations might change. Until then, I don't need to see Philbin standing at the podium regurgitating whatever his management tells him to say.

He's done nothing to show that he's good at anything regarding being the Head Coach of a football team.

2 seasons worth of data should be at least enough to make some sort of conclusion. And Reid's a good coach and proved it by "creating his product with what he has been given by someone else". Joe Philbin is continuing the same ol' mediocrity at best product that Sparano or any other below average coach could produce with these same 53 guys.

If I am understanding things right, Philbin was going to let Hickey be the first major dolphins figure to speak after the firings. hickey, who was not part of this, would be in front of all the media answering or deflecting questions.

Then Armando pointed out how gutlessly dumb this was and Philbin is now supposed to speak to the media.

Is that about it? If so:

    1) Philbin is a gutless wonder. Has anyone so assiduously avoided uncomfortable face-to-face interactions or confrontations as Philbin? Seriously, I think what happened to his son (and this may sound insensitive, but I still have to put it out there) is not entirely unrelated to his inability to cope with actually SHOWING UP to deal with situations instead of avoiding them.

    2) Er… is there anyone with common sense, foresight or anything aboard the SS Miami Dolphins? Seems like a ship with a rubber rudder and no one at the steering wheel.

As long as this **** still bothers me, at least I know I care. Once I stop complaining, I'll probably cease being a fan. So, for now, this is it.

He'll be live and in person to spout the company line, hopefully without reading from note cards. Of course the media will do whatever it takes to keep the story alive but as fans I hope we can all hear what Philbin has to say, love it or hate it, and move on.

Time to start thinking about FA and the draft. How to field the best OL possible with limited resources. Helping Tannehill take the next step in his development. Finding more ways to utilize Mike Wallace. And Dion Jordan. Who's going to emerge at positions like DT and FS? Does Keller have anything left? Can Binns and/or Gibson bounce back? It'd be nice to have a FB for a change, a blocking TE would be icing on the cake. Mr. Lazor, come on down.

Are the Dolphins truly clueless that there are more than two or three local highschool yearbook reporters who are following this story? National media attention, man. NFL network. ESPN. Every football site. Many papers outside florida.

So, to those who brought up a local Pizza Hut… clearly not the same situation.

This is a national sport, with billions at stake and many millions of fans, plus a voracious news cycle wanting to be fed.

PLus a huge marketing machine designed to keep us, the fans, loving these teams enough to spend a lot of time and money on them. That is, they market to try to get us to care or keep us caring. And when that works.. it means we CARE about what's happening with that team.

So yeah, shockingly… we CARE wtf is going on here and want to hear about it.

When Pizz Hut has that sort of national attention and markets to keep me super emotionally invested in knowing about the daily doings of its employees with a show called the Pizzinsiders, then we can start comparing why Philbin needing to say something is similar to a Pizza Hut manager.

Nah bro, once we stop obsessing over one issue we can finally get down to biz.

If Armando was a real reporter he'd be digging for info on Miami's draft and FA plans, ya know, the stuff that actually matters. Instead he's digging into the depths of his douche-baggery in order to keep the focus on two players who have ZERO chance of playing for the Dolphins next year.

And therein lies the motivation for the media, keep stirring the pot to drive viewers to their sites and ultimately, sell more advertising. The longer this goes, the worse it is, the more people will turn to the media to have their media driven outrage validated by columnists like Armando.

The emotionally mature response would be to address the issues, frustrations, see what's being done to fix the situation and then move on. Some people appear to enjoy the drama too much to let it go.

as ridiculous as the entire ("scandal ?) affair is/was, it was extremely damaging & largely self-inflicted. never liked Turner, glad to see him go... having said that, Philbin has to address the issue because the buck stops with him. he needs to step up & put it rest on a public forum... the end.
