Then I don't think you understand how this works WADR. A decent chunk of trades shouldn't be balanced at this point or else they wouldn't happen in the first place. Trade rape is one thing, but unbalanced trades are pretty common. Honestly, would you have traded every valuable player on your past rosters simply b/c someone offered you equal value, or are there certain players you'd require greater value for simply b/c you're not actively looking to trade them b/c they mean more to you ON your roster than traded for fair market value? What was your reasoning for giving me a high 2nd and high 3rd for Jairus Byrd in 2012 even though it was it was more value than he was worth at the time? Why was I was willing to offer Van more for JJ Watt than he was worth? Was it b/c you didn't know the "market value" or Byrd or that I don't know the value of my own Seattle players? No. It was b/c I could afford to sacrifice the extra value for the greater good of what I wanted to accomplish. I wanted what I wanted and I was willing to give a little extra for it, just as I'd assume anyone asking for Harvin, the most explosive player in the NFL, would be smart enough to understand that I'm not just looking to give him away or that I won't care about looking for the best offer. I really don't understand a few of you guys. You, Alex, and Fin-O act like Percy Harvin is like some Joe Schmo or something whom I was lucky to even receive an offer for. You're in college; I'd figure you'd understand the law of supply and demand. What I don't understand is how Alex [and others] can clearly understand this principle and would enforce it when I inquire about Jurrell Casey, yet he comes in here criticizing a Seattle-GB trade BEFORE it was accepted and even though FFG asked me for Harvin, and negotiated me down from what I firmly wanted from the onset, which was to involve a swap of 1st for 2nd b/c that was one of my Seattle goals from the onset. I'm not the one who went looking for Cobb, and there's no damn way I'd trade Harvin straight up for him, so why should I be looking for a perfectly even trade? What's the darn point? You show me a dead even trade proposal for Harvin and I'll likely show you the door. It's that simple. You, Alex, and Fin-O have ALL done the same thing at one point or another so I don't understand this sanctimonious attitude from you guys, especially that runner-of-the-mouth SituationJr who has the audacity to criticize a trade after stuff that he's done this year alone. The friggin' kicker of this is if I had GB and this were reversed, I would've accepted the initial deal I proposed to Michelle in a heartbeat to try and push my receiving corps over the top considering I already had Nelson in place. No counter. No nothing. Just a flat out thank you and have a nice day. Green Bay sends Cobb, 1.21 for Harvin, 2.64, 4.128, and 6.192.... and then I would've worked that 2.64 back into the first round or close to it, and I would've worked my cap to make Cobb's salary a piece of cake just like I worked my cap with Buffalo so that I could sign Calais Campbell in FA in order to polish off the final piece of my D-line. Was $16 million "fair market value" for Calais? Hell no.... but I wasn't just paying for Campbell; I was paying for an elite defensive front, which would've been incomplete w/o signing him.
Question to those who are criticizing trades for either not being "balanced" or for possibly "exceeding perceived market value of a player involved": does this mean you think Paul should set one fair price for each player in Free Agency, too, so that fair market value isn't exceeded, and then we can put each interested GM into a randomizer to determine who gets him? That way everything is fair to all, right. Or... umm.... should we stick to the system already in place and let the person who offers THE MOST for the player be the one who gets him?
Your opening statement made me laugh. Todd, I've ran the damn thing when Walter Jones was an elite tackle... c'mon man. Just realize half the **** I'm saying is in jest and I'm joking around. The proposed Cobb/Harvin trade was not even close to the more one-sided trades I've seen here this year. I know Harvin's potential and I think when healthy he can be a top five wide receiver. I think Cobb's ceiling is a top fifteen receiver with Aaron Rodgers but Harvin? I imagine he could put up numbers like Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, and those guys. PS: Byrd was looking like he would be a premier free safety in the NFL and considering he was drafted in the second round, he surpassed his original value. I thought a 2nd + 3rd was extremely fair and not one-sided at all but to each their own. Hell, I remember you *****ing about accepting that trade later. If you want to talk about me overpaying for a player, Mach will remind you that I traded a third round pick for Stanford Routt a few years ago. THAT was a poor trade.
LULZ. Nobody should have to be quick on the draw. Firstly, trades are agreed upon in PMs. When they're posted, they're posted. The follow up post quoting and accepting the trade is only to confirm its authenticity or accuracy. Secondly, you care more about raping trade partners than making sure they're happy, so of course you yourself would wanna immediately be all over that acceptance post before they have a chance to develop buyer's remorse or notice the anus blood dripping down their leg.
My bad, Mat, I thought you were using my trade as an example of the one-sided stuff you were referring to. I agree with you about the heavily lopsided stuff however. There's a point where it just crosses the line. I'm not criticizing you for the Byrd trade or are suggesting it was poor; merely suggesting that all of us are willing to give up a little more to get a player we covet, and even though you gave up slightly more than what was fair market value at the time, I was undecided later on about whether or not the trade was in my best interest. I wasn't seriously regretting the trade or anything. Just thought it might've ended up being one of those instances where it costs you as much to replace the player as you got for him in trade. I know we've all been there, done that.
Haha as much as I like and want him, I don't think the same deal I'd have offered her will get it done because your needs ar er different and don't match what I'd be willing to give.
People are going to comment on a trade. You can't stop that. Like I said...post it when both people are around.......or use Paul as a proxy if time zones are in play. That way not every trade has to go through Paul and were not sitting here twiddling our thumbs when real life hits Paul to. Edit: Well now I know FFG will trade anyone ;p
She's been just like everyone else, won some, lost some, pulled even. Tough negotiator I have to say. She sticks to her price. We have been a round off a player a few days and she hasn't budged
I'm still thinking of trading down from 15 if I can stay in the first and still pick up a 2nd. I'm not a big believer in the top half of the draft this year.
Man this can get boring when some of the GMs aren't doing anything and you get messaged that they don't check this much
Ok, willing to trade out of the 1st round for a 2nd a 4th and a middle ground player...anyone interested? Of course everything is negotiable.
I can give my late second and a really good player like D. Morgan or Sammie Lee Hill but that's about it
i want to get more picks too anyone want #1 overall so they can take clowney watkins or manziel? If I have to keep it Im goin to take Sammy Watkins.
I almost made a deal with Todd that would have given me 31, 32 and 33. Talk about a power vacuum at the end of the first. 15, 21,31, 33 Works for me also ;p
Looking to Move Heath, if anyone is interested. I dont need to, but Im looking at some other options i'd rather spend the money on.
Well considering I didn't really do any research before that draft and it was my rookie year....I only had 2 outright bombs in Patton/Rambo. Jury still out on rest. This year I'll try putting in the time to doing some research (already done more then I ever did last year ;p) and maybe use a silent partner.
you can always get 4 or 5 picks in the 4th round like me... Tyler Wilson was a waste, only because of Oakland (who suck by the way)
LOL. Every time I feel like I have too many picks. I just recall all the trading down you do and realize you can never have enough ;p Although after 5 picks I'm glad you didn't take my guy in Dwayne Gratz who I took a few picks after that spree.
That is me not taking your insults seriously. If I was taking it seriously I'd probably use more foul language.
Looking to move D. Morgan and my late second for an early second or late first. Was rated a top 6 4-3 pass rushing DE by PFF. Could play WOLB in a 3-4.
For what its worth I didn't rip your trade. If you remember I personalpersonally inquired about Harvin. I just said if you're giving up a really goid WR and great draft pick, you want a guy who has proven durable and put up the numbers. Never said Harvin sucks.
Looks like Stringer Bell got killed again ;p Welcome new Indy owner! Oh and because I'm lazy and don't want to run through team rosters tonight ;p I may have a 3rd rounder available for a solid ILB whose cost is under a few million.
yeah, Stringer has been replaced by a Colts fan that was recruited by me to take over the team. Congrats to Wyld Colts. Lucky bastard... I mean he goes from Manning to Luck. ****er. oh welcome Stringer was just too busy with real life stuff... wish him well in his future endeavors.
