CBS announces that Dan Marino and Shannon Sharpe will no longer be part of its studio show. Tony Gonzalez hired to replace them.
Wow, Dan now has been let go from both major analyst jobs he's had. I may be slightly biased because he has been my idol since I first learned what football was, but I think he does a good job on TV. I think Sharpe is good too. They provide good balance. Hopefully, like Chris said, this means he's taking a job with the Dolphins. If not that, maybe he can get a radio show locally in Miami.
Sad to see Dan leave, but I can't say he was doing anything special while on the show. Won't miss Shannon Sharpe at all
Seemed like he just coasted his way to a paycheck. Never really brought anything insightful or entertaining. I am sure he will find something whether it be at NFL Network, another network or in SoFla.
maybe we can get Dan and McDuffie together and have them work at espn because everyone else there seems to root for our rivials.
he's not nfl network material, they like clowns. He needs to work with the Miami freakin dolphins in some capacity..
Being let go by CBS within a month of his ramping up efforts to try and join the Dolphins in some official capacity is hardly coincidental. Either he ramped up the efforts to join the Dolphins as a response to knowing he was on the outs with CBS, or they are mutually parting ways so that he could finally pursue the Dolphins job, or some combination of the two. But believe me, he is ramping up his efforts to join the Dolphins. He's telling anyone that will listen that he wants to join the team.
If they don't have an office job for him I would give him Tannehill's job. His arm strength is probably half of what it used to be but I bet he can hit Mike Wallace in stride.
While I don't think Dan Marino is in line to accept some kind of John Elway-like position, I do think it's a joke that people keep touting John Elway's experience owning a failing football franchise like the Colorado Crush as this great big qualifier Elway had for his position with the Broncos that Marino lacks. I guess we should hire Jon Bon Jovi to be our Team President then. Much more qualified than Marino, apparently.
Don't know and he and Boomer provides nothing to the show... If anything he and Boomer should have been let go. I don't get why everyone sucks on Cowher's dick all the time.
marino was boring. sharpe should have no problem finding another tv gig. like everyone else, i pray marino comes back to the organization in a leading role.
These pregame/postgame shows have gotten ridiculous. I really don't understand the need for each show to have a dozen analysts, all of whom are sitting at one enormous table just regurgitating the same inaccurate information. I also don't see the need for each of them to be comprised primarily of former coaches and players, who tend to be LESS insightful than a normal broadcaster who does his homework.
You joke, but Bon Jovi down the road is going to buy the Bills and move them to Toronto. Jon's been working the Toronto social circles for a while now chumming up with all the money guys he'd need to make that move.
As I've been saying for months now, I don't care if they hire Marino to play solitaire and eat Cheetos all day, just hire him. His presence in the building will help in so many different ways.
If this is the end of his commentating career, he'll always be remembered for: Amazing tv.
Wasn't that just a rehearsal taping and not actually aired. I think it's when he first started on tv.
