It's easy to forget now that Elway faced skepticism as a former player with no front-office experience when he was named football czar in 2011. Since then, he's pushed all the right buttons, the most important of which was overcoming long odds to reel in his franchise quarterback a year later. This is a perfect example of why experience is a must. Elway's been to the show. He know's what it looks like and he know's what it takes to get there. No fluke there: Except for Peyton Manning http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...n-manning-john-elways-speech-inspired-broncos
I didn't have any skepticism that Elway would succeed. He owns/owned an Arena League team to get his feet wet and is John effin Elway. Hickey and Philbin have rings too. btw
Poor 2socks. He'd said earlier this month that Ireland wouldn't be fired because they'd never do that until the Wells report came out and by then it would be too late for a new GM to formulate a plan for the draft or free agency. Somehow, Ross didn't get 2socks' memo and Ireland was let go and replaced well before the release of the Wells report. I'm sure he feels confused right now.
Your own post? Seriously though I don't get the infatuation many have with Dan running the Dolphins and expecting Elway's NFL success to translate to Marino. Two completely different people. My understanding has been that Marino is an investor that relies heavily on advisers and not running day-to-day business operations. http://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/17/business/talking-money-with-dan-marino-playing-it-cautious-after-the-game-s-over.html A couple of his investments: http://www.ibtimes.com/nfl%E2%80%99s-dan-marino-loses-millions-why-did-digital-domain-go-bankrupt-789310 http://peters.patch.com/groups/business-news/p/dan-marinos-coal-fired-pizza-restaurant-to-open-aug-26-in-peters-township
Not sure what's worse the fact that you need to grow up or the fact that some people fist bump you thinking it's a solid post..................lol Well I will let you decide
I'm lost. How can the Broncos help the Dolphins win a Super Bowl. Are they going to lend them Manning for a season? Let them play in their stadium? I don't get it.
I read it, wasn't sure the point you were trying to make, and figured Marino was the only rational comparison on how again the Donkeys can help the Phins.
Maybe the OP didn't fully explain how the dots connected between the article and the thread title, but I inferred that having a guy who knows the game of football as well as Elway in a prominent position in your organization can be a key to success. My assumption (maybe I am wrong) is that this relates mainly to the notion of whether or not it's reasonable to consider bringing Marino into the organization. I'm not sure it's as reasonable as it was with Elway, who had more experience as a football owner/exec I think⦠but given how utterly unreasonable the running of this Dolphins organization has been in some respects recently, I can;t see Marino actually bringing the neighborhood *down* by moving in. He'd probably add, at the very least, some self-respect and the willingness to call b.s. on people who were self-deluding. Those are more important things than many here may realize. Also, not sure why the OP and thread got such a powerful and immediate negative reaction.
They can't help Miami win a Superbowl but if they get shutout against Seattle, they will take us out of the record book..... for least amount of points scored in a game.
Defense absolutely, but their QB was stellar on 3rd downs. He made plays. Den actually bottled up beast mode.
Playmaking ability of the Qb is so important in today's game, lets hope Lazor brainwashes Tannehill, and lets hope Tannehill can learn how to make one..This timing based stuff is for the birds..I want my Qb to understand situational football, function the offense from the pocket, but make a friggin play when you have to.
