Why, it's not like the NE drafts have been amazing. With all of Billicheats trading down and amassing picks, their drafts have been no better than Irelands, who I remind you has gotten an interview with no one.

A bit surprising that he accepted a 2nd interview.

if he does take the job he probably can't wait to find Philbin's replacement in 2015

Then who do we bring in 2015 to fire Caserio in 2016?

    hopefully that cycle ends.

btw I'm really starting to believe the reports that Philbin was Ross's hire and Ireland preferred McCoy.

Agreed that their drafts aren't awesome. But they have avoided major team-disrupting busts, and their methods of accumulating extra draft picks should excite you if Caserio imports them to Miami. It's easier to draft if you have 10 picks a year.

Also worth noting that Caserio is not the one making draft picks in NE. Belichick makes the picks.

They've had some solid hits recently. Nate Solder's a better LT than I ever imagined he would be. They've gotten snaps out of Marcus Cannon in the wake of Vollmer's injury. Ridely, Dennard, two of three rookie receivers this year, and Jamie Collins is panning out quite nicely to this point.

you must be joking...since Caserio got promoted to Dir. of Player Personnel in 08 they've drafted guys like Ridley, Vereen, Spikes, Mayo, Hightower, Gronk, Hernandez, McCourty, Pat Chung, Edelman, Vollmer, Nate Solder, Chandler Jones, Jamie Collins, and Alfonzo Dennard. even found Woodhead as an UDFA. now some of these guys have injury issues, some have legal issues, some are no longer with the team, but I would kill for Miami to get production like that from the draft.

They also finally hit on a DB in McCourty after four years of failure.

It would be interesting if NE's recent drafts had more direct involvement from Caserio.

That last line in there worries me. Pioli is gone and Caesar (however it's spelled) knows they really need him now. He refused to interview early and now he is interested? I'm kind of suspicious. I suppose w/ Pioli gone maybe it changes his role at NE in a way he doesn't like. Hell, I don't know.

NE goes to the AFC Championship Game this season starting 6 rookies on a regular basis, with something like 14 starting in spot duty over the season. Brady? Yes. Belichick ? Yes. They still know how to find guys they can plug in and win with.

Yeah, I'm really wondering. Maybe he really like key people once he met them and talked w/ them (e.g. Philbin).

We all just want a good GM. A great GM would be awesome, but we won't know that for years.

I wouldn't say the "system" per se. I just think that coaches like Belicheck, Carrol and Jim Harbaugh (for example) have shown a very good ability to adjust to the talent they have available.

    I'm assuming you meant Hernandez.

He was a successful football pick, but yes, Caserio needs to answer some hard questions about how and why Hernandez made it on the draft board and what specifically happened, if anything, that the Patriots should have reasonably picked up on.

But the Pats just played in the AFCCG, so what was disrupted?

Speaking of the system, I would hope Caserio would bring some of it if hired, and that he isn't unduly interfered with by Dawn in implementing it. But all in all, I'm happy they're looking at a guy from a perennially winning organization rather than someone from Detroit, Cleveland... or Miami.

How ****ed is this hiring process that we have to hope and pray that one of the applicants says "Yes" rather than Ross just being able to hire the best guy? In a profession where there are only 32 openings. Ross has to be hands down the dumbest billionaire on the planet.

Heck, if I were interviewing for a GM job at $1 mil per year, Ross could call me anything he wanted, even George Bush or Dick Cheney. After he hired me, I'd politely correct him later. :)

All this crap is BS, if your a real confident aspiring GM, you take the freakin job because the job is a challenge..you don't back out because someone mispronounced your name, what a crock, you make sure the owners pockets are open, you make sure he's not going to meddle in your affairs, you make sure you have a damn good head coach, you make sure your getting paid fairly, and you accept the challenge of taking a crap team for the past two decades and flip it into a perennial contender..

Sorry if the owner doesn't know my name, it makes me question how much he knows about me or if he even wants me. If I'm a top guy I know other jobs will open up for me. I want to go to a healthy situation not this cluster ****.

I was an optimist until yesterday. I still believe this can be fixed and put behind us, I just don't believe we will take those steps.

Oh I definitely agree. However if the guy is rambling on like a bufoon, keeps calling me "Roy Farmer" and I'm not 100% sold on the job, I honestly might just mail it in and not bother.

We dont know the context. Maybe they did correct them. However its a pattern not a simple mistake. We've got Sanders instead of Xanders and Roy instead of Ray.

That tells me Ross literally does not give two f***s
