As it relates to Bess though, Bess seems to be off his base line, which is why, I think, he has garnered some sympathy. Ricky was self aware and did nothing about it. Bess thinks he is a chicken, currently. That garners sympathy from folks.

Seems like he will do anything and everything to get fired by the Browns. He must not like being on there!
