I love the kid, I really do. He has a huge heart and made a lot out of modest talent. But face it. All he has going for him is football, and he knows the NFL's drug policy. Posting this was the act of a not-too-bright person.

There are other ways of changing teams that don't get you suspended and don't result in a locker room problem label by other teams.

Not for nothing, Im wondering how severe his back injury is. Weed has been used for centuries for temporary numbing of pain. Im not advocating it, but it is true. Also hes not in the picture, just posting it. It doesnt prove hes done it.

Hmm, saw that stuff on twitter and was a bit surprised, Dbess has marginal physical talent to begin with, why would a team roll the dice on him and a possible suspension down the road?

I support pot legalization, and hope that someday athletes will be able to use it without negative consequences. However, this is just stupid and doesn't help that cause at all.

He's def dumb to publicize this if he plans on playing next year. Random drug test? No wayyy

Interesting timing though bc I just saw an article earlier w Goodell saying he'd consider allowing players to use it.

I think its only stupid if he doesn't understand the consequences. If he does, and he's just saying "Screw it, my body, my right and I'm proud" I dobt see it as stupid. Lets face it...he probably has enough money to last him a while if he's been wise.

He has been screaming for help for weeks. This is a full scale meltdown. Very sad to see. Bess was one of my fave Phins.

Looks like that trade really sent him off the deep end

Or he was in the deep end, and we traded him before we got caught up in. But no one will give Philbin/Irish credit for it.

What the hell has happened to him? His 5 years here he was nothing but a good, upstanding person. There has to be something going on with him personally. I hope he gets himself together soon.

Remember he was in juvie for almost 2 years I think as a teenager. Straightened himself out but seems like he's hitting a rough spot again.

Not sure if any of this stuff was going on when he fell out of favor here. None of what I'd heard was related to this. But if he wants to stay at the NFL income level he needs to get it together.

It's obvious the guy needs professional help. I don't think we should credit anyone in this organization if they dumped Bess because they saw the warning signs instead providing him the help he needs.

Goodness, has he fallen off, granted "assualt on an officer' can mean a lot of things, like removing their hands off of you, still tho.

He needs to take some time, get some sleep, and clear.

According to the news report, the "assault" was pouring coffee on the officer but it does go on to say he took a "fighting stance" and refused to take direction from the police. The article does say he is dealing with a serious issue back home in Oakland which could be the trigger that started this behavior.

I always liked him when he was here and I hope he can get his life back together.

Cleveland is a top 3 city in the country for depression, if he was on the verge in Miami it's quit plausible that environment pushed him over the edge. I stay up there a weeks time a few times a year for work purposes, and every night I seriously drink as much as possible then go pass out in my hotel.

I could be wrong, but this kind of behavior doesn't sound like JUST marijuana to me... Sounds like he was on a hallucinogen of some sort. The officer said it was as if Bess was looking through him when he looked into his eyes. Sounds like meth or something to me...

Sounds like he's taking anti-anxiety Xanax. These episodes of belligerence and strange behavior are common. He could be prescribed due to stress and anxiety. Which would explain his nonchalance in taking pictures with marijuana and paraphernalia. I REALLY hope hes not drinking on this horrible, LEGAL, medication too. Very dangerous drug to get off of

My gut tells me this is a time when Davone Bess needs our sympathy a lot more than our self-satisfied mirth about a job well done shipping him off the roster.

Thats not their job. Hes an adult, he can get help at any time. Hes smoking pot, posting it online for the world to see, blatantly breaking NFL policies in public, and assaulting officers....all while being paid handsomly to do it. The Dolphins have bigger things to worry about than baby sitting an adult.

My gut tells me I ate too much taco bell last night, AND that our sympathy does nothing. Unless you're finding him and bringing him to a clinic, saying your sympathys on a message board do nothing. We don't know the entire story at all. He looks like hes crying for help on one hand. On another he looks dumb, like a thug that he has been since high school, and hes posting "cool" rhasta pictures of bob marley, joints, and growing his dreds out. Young people are stupid sometimes.

Just because hes outgoing with his antics doesnt 100% mean hes got issues and needs help. Everyone goes through crap, depression, deaths in families, job losses......but NOT everyone is being paid a ridiculous amount of money in the meantime. Hes messing up, and it's not our job to baby him. Especially without all the facts.

I find this to be extraordinarily callous considering all he did in Miami, especially given his background and the things he's overcome. He had always been an A+ personality in Miami and did lots of charity work. He's going through a rough time and the details of his behavior point to some potentially very serious problems. It's your right to be sympathetic or callous. But one option is going to make you come off looking like a lot better person than the other in this particular situation, IMO.

It is just a simple case of people believing that money solves more problems than just being able to pay bills and buy cars.
