Mel Kiper Jr: "I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Dolphins took QB AJ McCarron in the 2nd round come the NFL Draft in May." He is a Winner and we could Trade Moore. He can throw Bombs
Jimmy Garoppolo Trade down in the third to the bottom of the round or to the beginning of the 4th, draft Jimmy and add a pick or two.
I really want a runningback. I think this draft is pretty deep at good runningbacks that Miami can get a great upgrade with their second round pick
I wouldn't mind taking Boyd in the 4th. Something like that. Unless you got a top talent that drops to you In the 2nd(mccarron not that), you don't do that.
Why take a QB who is looked at as a 3 round to a 5th round pick in round 2 when you have a QB? No thank you!
I personally don't think McCarron is all that special anyway, but no way we blow a 2nd round pick on a QB.
Like Osweiler. I don't even know what to say. If you're looking for a QB and you want to draft a player "like Osweiler," I don't even know what to say. I'm not trying to be mean, just lost. The fanbase is losing it's collective mind.
Only reason to draft a qb this year is if pat devlin is unable to hold for our kicker.... Other than that and a 3rd string that we take in the 6th or later I don't see why we'd ever draft a qb.... Tannehill has been the best qb we've had (except maybe one year with Pennington) in the last 15 years and now all of sudden we are spoiled that now we need a Brady/Marino/manning now? Slow down and be happy we finally have atleast an average qb, and that was average with no run game and maybe one of the worst olines in nfl history. I think Tannehill is only going to improve but even if te tannehill we saw this year shows up with a decent run game and an average oline, we are still a playoff team.
No doubt, draft a QB. Devlin is not a challenger and Matt is too expensive, no need to keep either of those guys. Tom Savage please, late.
I don't think taking another young QB the 2014 draft to be a backup is what this team needs right now. While I am still concerned if Tannehill is the right QB for the job long term. I would like to see how he develops in 2014 before we give up on him. Perhaps with a new OC and better players around him on offense, Tannehill will finally show he can be the answer for the Dolphins over the long run. If Tannehill doesn't develop under Lazor next year, the new GM can always do what is necessary to move up and draft one of the top QB's who will be available in the 2015 draft. Besides I just don't ever see McCarron being a starting caliber QB in the NFL. He was decent at Alabama but I never thought he anything special as a college QB. Probably 30 or 40 % of the college starting QB's on other teams could have had a similar won-loss record at Alabama, with all the talent on Alabama's roster and with Saban as the teams HC. If any team drafts McCarron before the fifth round, they will be wasting one of their fist four picks, IMO.
Moore should be traded. Devlin should be promoted #2 and developmental guy should be picked up for #3.
I too like Garoppolo a lot. With those unique skills I think he'll be a very good NFl QB after a year of sitting and learning. If he's there in the 3rd (which I highly doubt), maybe you give it a go. But man this team has so many needs that's a tough call. Gotta try trading Moore, I suppose, but I doubt we'd have appealing suitors.
Drafting a QB in rounds 1-4 would be a huge mistake. Too many other needs and Tannehill took big steps forward in year 2 with no OL and no running game. Give him those and let's really see what we got with him.
I wonder if a guy like Barkley would be attractive? It's always beneficial to have a player that's familiar with the coach's process to help the development of the players new to the system.
I wouldnt mind a QB later in the draft to back up Tanny and maybe push him a little. But not Mcarron, in any round
Okay, I have to ask this. Why does Tannehill need to be pushed? I would have understood if he had bad work ethic, and I am not saying he is flawless. But he improved tremendously from last year to this season. Doesn't look like he needs to be pushed to me.
Normally, I'd agree....but I think that would hinder Tannehill's development speed in the new system. Or maybe not...
Patriots had Brady...yet...drafted guys like Mallet. If there is a QB that can be legitimately has potential to be developed into a starting QB...and hes there around the 4th ....I see no problem taking him. Its got nothing to do with whether Tannehill is a franchise QB. He can still get hurt...and you can always trade the developed QB at a later date. I think its a wise investment
There is no better way in the NFL, to plan for the future, then becoming a QB factory, especially when you have a QB guru like Lazor. You'll either have the next QB in line or significant trade bait. Win-win.
Patriots are a winning team. I would rather get a better back up guard or 3rd down back or a potential offensive playmaker.
