Of course everybody would want him but, is there a fit on the team? Coming from a 3-4 to a 4-3 who's position would he most likely take? I would love to have his leadership, I love his attitude, he brings the hammer, and the toughness I believe that would be great on Miami. X-factor for me too? His absolutely and uninhabited hatred for the New England Patriots. What do you say Phins fans yay or nay?
While I believe you cannot have too many pass rushers, I would rather put the money to Randy Stark and another DT
He is 31, you think he has 3 good years left, THAT is the main question? Because if you think he does, they could give him a 5 year deal and they would be able to cut him after 3, as usually most FA contracts are front-loaded guaranteed money wise.
No thanks. We can't even get all our pass rushers on the field now. Why add another? Just get Dion Jordan on the field, his future is brighter than Suggs at the moment and Suggs isn't better than Wake. He I'd probably better than Vernon even at this stage, but Vernon IMO fills a role Suggs probably woulf struggle in.
If you have a chance to add an elite player at his position, actually the best in this case, then you take a look..
He fell of bigtime during the second half of the year. Was a shell of himself. Looks like a 3rd down/situational edge rusher from here on, imo, unless he works some magic on them aging legs.
Far too many more pressing needs. Not worth the money it would cost to sign him for the Dolphins to pursue.
He's been a fat guy on and off during his career. I remember the interception in the playoffs in 2008. I couldn't believe a refrigerator could move that fast.
Can he pass cover? Can he play offensive tackle? He's not really a position of need at the moment. We are already pretty jammed up with Vernon, Wake, Jordan, and Shelby. On top of that we run a 4-3 defense...How does Suggs fit into that? Don't get me wrong I love Terrell Suggs but he really isn't a fit on this team unless we get rid of one of our pass rushers.
When he got that Achilles injury he just went full metal on being out of shape..looked like it carried over a bit this season but he was better.. At 31, I don't put anything past this mans motivation, he could flip a switch and completely dedicate himsel and get it back.he's an incredible football player and competitor... Like all prospects, see where their at mentally when it comes to the physical dedication to their craft, if you feel that the intelligence or motivation isn't there as it pertains to their physique or nutrition then simply decline their services...this includes college players for me.
I don't see why you want to throw huge money at another pass rusher DJ. It will complely destroy our offseason. There isn't enough money to re-sign the guys we need to and address other needs. By signing Suggs you are missing out on players we NEED to address. Like Grimes or Starks, while also preventing yourself from going after a top LT on the market.
I just mean that I would take a look at his asking price, look at my roster and go from there, probably wouldn't go in that direction but an elite player becoming available demands at least that respect.. For example..grimes is a priority, I'm not sacrificing him..but when it comes to Suggs I must really look closely at my Solai and Starks situation..
IMO Starks and Soliai are far more valuable to us than Suggs vould ever be based on our roster make up. My two cents.
By going after Suggs, the Dolphins would basically be admitting that Jordan is a bust. They already have Vernon and Wake and signing Suggs would use up a lot of their cap space. While I would love to have Suggs opposite Wake, I just don't see it happening. The Dolphins have many needs at this time but another DE, even Suggs, should be a very low priority on their off season wish list.
is that feeling based on keeping both? Because neither of them are in Suggs ballpark on their own.. Your right, were too log jammed at the position.. The only way it would work is if you move Dion Jordan to outside linebacker and let Soali walk and continue to play a 43 with Odrick and Starks in the middle.
I'd like to keep both, in reality we probably won't be finding first year impact starters past the third round of the draft. Cant count on it anyway. So I'd rather not create another need for the sake of a luxury. Also I think Suggs will get a huge contract. Pass rushers are at a premium and injury or not he is one of the best and someone will fork over the cash IMO. It could work if Dion Jordan moved to LB full time. We would still be dumping a ton of money into one phase of the game we are already faitly successful and talented in I meant Starks and Soliai are more valuable to us because they fill a role we dont have tons of depth at if ee lose thrm. In fact we have none..
I don't want Suggs. He's Joey Porter 2.0 in a 4-3 (circa 2007 w/Cam Cameron). Doesn't make sense. I also wish Miami had a clue what to do with Dion Jordan. At the time, I was excited we drafted him. Now? Not so much. It has nothing to do with Dion Jordan and everything to do with the coaches. They drafted a freak athlete capable of impacting the game in a variety of ways and yet they (seemingly) don't know what to do with him. Which I guess is in part because he's ideally suited for a 3-4. To complicate matters further, Vernon finished with double digit sacks, despite not being dominate. So that's eating away at his pass rushing opportunities. This kid should be the future of this defense and yet I have this horrible feeling that he'll end up displaced because the coaches can't position him correctly.
I share your concerns when it comes to positioning Jordan in this defense..I don't even think he knows what he does best.. He's been pining to be a pass rusher since before he got drafted, I mean like he's hard up on it..I think lining him up in one position every down is not using skillset correctly.
In 2011. You would agree that being the DPOY doesn't make you the best, no? It's voted on by the media. The grand majority of which do not study film (nor have the acumen to study film, even if they wanted to.). Suggs makes his money rushing the passer but in 2011, 15 players had more total QB pressures than Suggs. Our own Cam Wake led the NFL with 81. By most accounts, he's not the player he was back then. I'm with you in the sense that we should leave no stone unturned. And if we can add him for little risk, and without sacrificing the rest of our offseason plan in the process, then I'll certainly join you in the celebration.
