Dolphins have a good cap space without cutting their best QB, WR and CB.

Apparently CK tweeted out that Chris Mortensen said Ireland could still be fired once the Wells report comes out.

Definitely. He proved it last season. He was In a similar situation. And he didn't suck it up like Geno Smith.

When ever Ireland leaves. This has to be the most sought after GM job ever. Talking about the biggest leash ever!

If we had given the job to Jeff Fisher, considering he would have gotten personnel control and be the de facto GM, would he have become HC for life in light of our current firing practices?

Keep praying. Not going to happen. Not with the draft weeks away. Unless of course Ross like's putting a gun to the teams head and pulling the trigger. I have been saying all along, Philbin ordered a "Code Red", Ireland had knowledge but no one will ever prove it. It wouldn't surprise me if the same hold's true for Philbin.

Was the job ever truly open to Fisher? Fisher wasn't coming here without full authority. That just wasn't available, nor do I think wanted by Ross. Ross is a business man. In the Business world there are layers of Management, for obvious reasons. Options, Ross has few which is why we are where we are. Guarantee though----won't happen again.

You can't possible be serious. Don't compare the Dolphins' weapons last year to the Jets' weapons this year.

You must be happy with our 8-8 season, since you are glad Ireland hasn't been fired yet.

It wouldn't be a fair comparison because the Jets weapons have a back up caliber QB throwing to them this year.

It wasn't as bad a situation, but the point is he didn't have very good weapons and didn't suck. He had no threats outside of Hartline and Bess. Even when Kerley and Holmes were in the game, Smith sucked.

    It's actually in May now.

Stretching the definition of "weeks away" to its illogical concusion to justify keeping Ireland.

Cromartie had arguably his worst year and also said he wants to come back on a cheaper deal. Holmes is a cancer in the locker room and barely played all year. Sanchez's time is done.

I guess Tampa Bay won't be prepared for the draft since they need a GM now, and the draft is almost here.

Stephen Ross is the Cam Cameron of owners. He needs to be fired. Fire Ross, Ireland is gone. Obviously won't happen.

Ireland has had long enough and has failed. He has failed so much so that Miami will not get out of this until they have 3-4 consecutive successful drafts. By then, this team, as it is, will be a distant memory (if they luck out and start that next year).

It is a sad irony for fans when they have a team that is so poorly constructed as to have no hope of winning a SB with their nucleus - that the fans have to root for a complete failure of a season and several great drafts for any hope.

This team is at least 4-5 years away from a title. If ever.

Right and the report will not come out until Mid February -- after the super-bowl. 8 - 10 weeks until the draft tops. When your drafting for the up coming season that would give you 2-3 weeks with new GM in place. Assuming we are actually going to conduct some interviews and satisfy hiring rules. Additionally, the GM would be traveling heavily during this time assessing his list, refining it. Why do any of that if your just going to **** can the guy?

The Wells report won't come out until mid Feb? Where did you hear that? Even if that is true, there is still plenty of time before the draft. Free agency begins in early March. I do not believe it will take that long for the Wells report to come out.

I was responding to what the meaning of "may" was. I did not voice any support for Ireland, as I am one of the charter members of the "Fireland" brigade.

BTW...your future is NOWHERE near as bright as ours, my trolling friend.......because our QB can play..and yours is horrific.

Santonio Holmes was a good WR, until he became a Jet. Braylon Edwards...good til he became a Jet. Same with Calvin Pace, Bart Scott and a lot of other players.

You see the trees? Your future is more mediocrity and frustration. How can you cut Cromartie? The Jets may have the worst secondary in the league next season. Unless they drop a brinks truck on Brent Grimes.

This would be more satisfying to read if Miami hadn't been treading the path of mediocrity for years.

This was in response to the Jets having a brighter future.

One team rejoices in 8-8, another deals with it like its a calamity. As much as I dislike Ireland I will absolutely take him as a GM over Rexy and Geno as my coach and QB. That is a road to nowhere.

I don't want to get dragged into this argument, but Holmes is nowhere near the receiver he was before the injury. That said, Geno was pretty horrible this year.
