Let say Ross does cleans house... Now we look for a GM and HC, over the past few months we have read what the general idea whom our members like. Now that you have them in place, what the next step for our new brass. They look at our players, look at the tapes for the past few years and decide on whom they keep and can get rid of. We got a draft to look forward too. Now your up, what your opinion on what they have to do next.
Everyone's licking Bill O'Brien's nuts lately. I would imagine he and Nick Caserio could be a package deal. I mentioned in one of my B/R pieces another tandem, that being Duke Tobin and Jay Gruden. The only issue there really is Tobin seems like a guy that is happy to stay in Cincinnati.
Speaking of the Patriots tree, I like Josh McDaniels. He drafted Demaryius, Beadles and Decker, Knowshon. That man has a common sense.
LOL.... and 1st rounders on Tebow, Robert Ayers, and Alphonso Smith, and a 2nd on Darcel McBath & Richard Quinn.... and I'd hate to break it to you but Moreno was a bust in 3 of the past 4 years. Five 1st round picks used in two years and the only one truly worth a damn was Demaryius.
Those 2 of Josh McDaniels years were better drafts in Denver than any of Miami's in decades, probably since Marino. Give Josh McDaniels 6 years based on that intellectually honest strategy and he would have world beaters in Miami.
I will say this about Ireland, he has nailed every first round pick since he's been here. Tannehill and Jordan still TBD but their arrows are definitely pointing up. Long, Vontae, Odrick, Pouncey, Tannehill and Jordan have all either had great success, good success or potentially good success. Yet, completely useless in the second round. Koa Misi was his best 2nd round pick and that is not good.
Denver's ENTIRE 2009 draft was a massive disappointment!!..... significantly worse than anything Miami has done recently. 5 picks in the first 2 rounds of '09: All 3 second rounders were busts [one of which cost them a future 1st rounder], and both first rounders were identifiably bad picks.
To be a bit more fair, credit should go to Brian Xanders. Should target him for GM. brb will change my avy.
I would prefer to follow the Packers Ron Wolf tree. Those personnel guys who have branched out have done well, including the guys who followed Holmgren to Seattle. We need an upgrade from Ireland.
Man I would love for us to get Brian Xanders. I have had the chance to hang out with him in Atlanta at a friends place playing cards and was extremely chill when we would talk about the Dolphins. Funny thing is when we were talking he was like are they really going to keep Ireland around? He is head of Scouting for Detroit right now. Honestly I think it will be someone like Scott Pioli, he is a big time Philbin fan and if Ross doesn't want to make changes to the HC then I can see that being a good fit. I think his biggest issues in KC were head coaches not talent that he drafted.
Giving him credit for Odrick and Misi when Earl Thomas fell into his lap is like saying you drunk and drove and crashed.....but you didnt kill anyone, so yay!
I would like Tobin and Gruden He wouldn't be too bad either. I would have liked to see what he could have done with the offense in Denver given time. Not picking him was a very smart move.
