I thought Tanehill had gotten that off his back vs the Pats. Then the Bills and Jets games happened and I don't know again.
That is what Wally Buono would do Sect, and I agree, maybe not Sherman though And Rizzi is in trouble, seriously, his unit played like crap all year
Yeah, of course, that's accurate. Well my friend, if you have four losing seasons under one executive and now we improve—ONE WHOLE Game over the last two of those seasons—if you don't change, you can't expect different results. Don't change, and it's futility squared. You know...like I said after last season; and the season before that; and the season before that...
But you make it sound 50/50. It's not. Tannehill has an average today, and the Dolphins are in the playoffs.
What was he without John Elway? He was nothing. At all. He hasn't won a playoff game in how long? He's not a great coach.
Show me where I misread that you don't favor a change out of fear of not being able to make a good hire next time. Or, yeah—let's make this about me, and how I'm so over-excited that I can't cogently express in writing exactly what I mean.
I'm just not apportioning percentages. I was disappointed by every player today not named Lamar Miller. Everyone could have played better.
I said that? And that's BS man, he had a lot to do with that Denver team being as good as it was. Damn man.
I mean holy jeebus without Davis and the running game Elway would have never even sniffed another Super Bowl, forget about winning one. That running game was Shanahan and so was that offense.
That post was directed at Shanahan, not keeping Philbin as you jumped down my throat about. Again, read properly before you attack.
Just say no. As horrible as Dan Snyder is, Shanahan is just as much the problem as Snyder was this time around. I know more Redskins fans than I do Dolphins ones. The smart ones tell me Shanahan is a cancer.
You would think by now we would be used to this...yet it never ever seems to hurt less or make us any less angrier or disappointed
He has one playoff win in 13 years without Elway. Again, he's not great. You said he was a helluva coach. He's not.
And I got buddies who are Bronco fans who swear by him, it all really means nothing, but I don't anyone who could be in that atmosphere that the Redskins have and not be poisoned by it. Like I said I think him and Washington where just a terrible fit.
I don't care if you don't care for him or my opinion of him, just put words in my mouth bro. Not cool.
Odrick, Starks, Soliai, all played well against the run. The offensive line, backs, and tight ends, gave Tannehill more time than he has had all season. There really isn't much to excuse his play. The defense gave up an average of 20.9 points all season. Everyone on the team did enough to get the Dolphins into the playoffs. Tannehill had his worst game of the season.
Ireland and Sherman are no brainer 100% locks to be gone. You hire the GM. If the GM says he can't work with Philbin OR has a guy of his own he wants to bring in, sure can Philbin. Otherwise, leave him there. We've spun the coach roulette wheel way too ****ing much the past decade plus. I put Philbin ahead of everybody post-Johnson. He had **** to work with in so many ways and got us to 8-8. Yes I am disappointed as hell that this team which almost looked like it had heart apparently felt like surely they could beat one of the Bills and Jets and just put it on auto pilot. Yes, to some degree Philbin is responsible for that. It's not enough to fire him. It's enough to say we're giving you a credible GM who will get you players who aren't like these assclowns and you'd better step up your game too or else you're next. The good thing is I actually see some hope from among the ashes of this crap season. I think Philbin and Tannehill among a few others are actually building blocks for a team that can win with modifications to the line, the front office, and several other places.
Here's the problem with that. Virtually every fan is going to swear by whoever the coach was when their team won titles. Additionally, I can't give Shanahan a pass for Washington being a terrible fit. He chose that opportunity. That massive lack of discernment when every single thing that is terrible about Dan Snyder is known and detailed in public is the type of stain on his judgment that we cannot afford if we are to be hiring a new GM/coach/whatever you think he'd be doing here.
Mike Wallace decided to be Mike Wallace today, too. Then again, can you blame somebody who is known for it when it happens?
Not one guy on the offense or defense made a play.. Throw in Fields who was god awful punting the ball and it's a trifecta. If anyone is not sick enough...re-watch the game Ellerbe and Wheeler had. I am at a loss every week just trying to figure out what they are doing
To me its more about Nolan Carroll being 5 yards behind everyone he covers, the defense not being able to get off the field. Going on 4th and inches and trying to run up the middle with Clay which we all knew what would not work when you can't run the ball to begin with. Tannehill gets a pass for me, the guy has been hit more than Obama has over Obamacare. The defense gets the goat tag for me for the season along with the Oline. Get rid of Sheman and coyle.
When we set the bar at giving up 153 rushing yards and 203 rushing yards as good days stopping the run....it's time for us to find a new bar. As far from something you can possibly hang your hat on
As the father of a 3 year old autistic son I have first hand experience of how difficult life at home can be. I couldn't imagine having 2 autistic kids to deal with. I think Ireland has done a poor job and deserved to be canned but your replies are repulsive. I really hope this is anger just talking, there is way more to life than football.
I don't think I agree with that at all. He slipped on the interception, and had a solid day overall. I blame everyone who played below their average performance today. The biggest culprit today by a WIDE margin was Tannehill. It's even worse considering that he had the best pass protection of the season, and the running game was never abandoned. And for a QB to choke this bad, with this much on the line, is a real concern.
I agree with this. A new GM is a must, if Ireland somehow keeps his job then this organization is officially the worst run NFL franchise. Period. If the new GM wants to hire a new coach, thats his call. Despite his inexcusable game today, I still like Tannehill long term and I think there are some pieces in place. I do think the way we played the last two weeks probably has sunk Ireland and possibly Philbin. If Philbin doesn't agree that his entire staff needs to be reorganized then he will need to go too. There is some good young pieces here and if we waste them giving Ireland another draft and another FA period then our problems go so deep that we may never been a winning franchise again. If Ross doesn't understand what changes need to be made then its hopeless.
