Clearly a lot of coaches and players may be replaced. Which coaches or players are you actually happy with. Who should keep their jobs? My list: Tannehill Wake Starks Odrick Grimes Clemons Carroll Clay Wallace Gibson Hartline Sims McKinnie Pouncey Dan Campbell Kacy Rodgers
Fields Wake Vernon Pouncey Grimes I wouldn't necessarily replace EVERYONE else, but those are the only ones I feel should be untouchable.
I would fire everyone. It seems to be the only way. I just have a feeling, Ireland will somehow be retained
I find myself placing so much of the blame on the coaching staff, and so little on the players themselves...and that seems such an odd feeling. Even in the extreme cases of Wheeler and Ellerbe, I find myself wondering how two players who played well in different systems have struggled so mightily here, and I can't help but be left with the overall feeling that this coaching staff is almost 100% to blame. Now that Martin and Incognito are gone, I even find myself feeling sorry for the O-Line, as opposed to cursing at them because I just feel that every single one of our players has just been left out on an island this season to fight for themselves with absolutely zero direction. So the short answer is I'd fire the entire coaching staff.
Everyone is fair game IMO... except for: Tannehill (with competition) Grimes Starks Soliai Wake Hartline Gibson Matthews Clay Fields. That's about it probably, which is sad really. However given the state of the quality of talent on the roster, it shoudlnt be a surprise. Of course there's others I'd keep, but this would be a list of untouchables. Please take special note of the fact there are no coaches or GM on this list. Philbin I'm iffy on... I think he can be good, but he's got to show the balls to ditch his friends on this staff, and find the right people who will adjust to the players strengths and weaknesses, rather than be stubborn and try to fit square pegs into round holes.
Until this game I was with you. Can you elaborate what your thoughts are and why you would let Philbin have more time?
I'd keep Tannehill, Grimes, Pouncey, and Dion Jordan. The rest is either expendable or don't play important enough positions to be worth worrying about too much. We should seriously consider the possibility of trading Wake, IMO.

I don't know if Tannehill is the long term answer at the QB position or not. Right now he is merely a very average QB and he played his two worse games of the season the past two weeks. If he doesn't show drastic improvement next year, I would hope the Dolphins take a QB in the first round of the 2015 draft. I like Starks, but I don't see him remaining with the Dolphins next year unless they franchise him again. I think he will get more money with another team in free agency and I don't think he really likes playing for this coaching staff. I think promoting Odrick over him as the starting DT is something he isn't going to forget, once he is a free agent. To me Odrick is a very average DT, but with all the other needs on this team, he will probably still be here for at least one more year. Wake appeared to be slowing down as the season came to a conclusion. He applied no pressure today and he had a bad game last week against the Bills. Hopefully he will be effective next year, but I think at his age, his best years are probably behind him. If they could get a #1 or high #2 draft pick for him, they might have to consider trading him, as he will be 31 years old when the 2014 season begins. I would only want the Dolphins to try and keep Carroll if he is willing to play for a relatively cheap contract. He is a decent backup CB, but they need to upgrade this position opposite Grimes. Of course I agree that they should try and keep Grimes if they can. Clemmons is what he is. A very average safety who NEVER comes up with a big play in a game. Just like with Carroll, keep him if you can get him cheaply, but do everything you can to upgrade this position. I'm okay with keeping the WR's, as long as Wallace is willing to renegotiate his contract. He just counts far too much against next years cap, relative to what his value on the field is. I think McKinney came in and did an alright job, but I certainly hope they can upgrade the LT position. I just don't see McKinney being better next year and at his age, I suspect he will not even be as good as he was this year and that really wasn't very good. The fact is that when you look at this overall team. It just isn't very talented. You have a few very good players and an awful lot of very average to bad players on the roster. In fact the Bills proved this year that they are more talented than the Dolphins by beating them twice. Today the Jets showed they have a better defense than the Dolphins. In fact if Smith had not had so many turnovers as the Jets QB. It would be the Jets who would probably be in the playoffs this year. Talent wise, the Dolphins are behind the other teams in the AFC East right now. So hopefully Ross will hire someone to come in and get this team headed in the right direction. I don't believe Ireland is the right GM for the job and I have no faith that Philbin is the right man to be the HC of this team. Hopefully the firings will commence immediately and we can look forward to next season with a new regime picking the talent and coaching the players on the field.
Bills have had the best drafts lately but are still missing a Qb . How is Karlos dansby a pro bowl player again? Coaching.
The last I checked, Ireland has been the GM for 6 years and they haven't had a single winning season in their last five years. So I think it is fairly obvious that his system for selecting talent for this roster DOESN"T work. He should be fired before Ross's head hits the pillow tonight.
I agree that against the better teams in the league, the Bills need better play at the QB position. Unfortunately the Dolphins can't be considered as one of those better teams and the Bills could probably have played a JV QB against the Dolphins this year and still won the two games they played against the Dolphins this year.
They need to fire everyone from Ireland right on down. You just ****ing lost to two teams in the division man. I mean WTF??? And those two teams arent' even New England
Okay, ….. so everyone wants to fire everyones.. we get it. Who WOULDN'T you get rid of (player/coaches)? There's 17 threads about chopping everyone's heads off. This one actually is looking at who stays. Supposedly.
Yup. And to add my dig towards the coaches....the "flat" feeling this team has damn near EVERY game is beyond frustrating.
It isn't that simple. You can love a player but still trade, release, or let the guy walk, if it is what you have to do build your team right. Money is also a HUGE factor. Grimes for example: A great player that everyone loves may walk because of age, injury, and money considerations. Pouncey: Yes, even a great player like Pouncey could be traded. If the Dolphins get offered a 1st and a 3rd from say, the 49ers or Broncos, do they consider it?? They might. Pouncey may be the lone surviving starter of this year's line. The Dolphins may not want him to become the defacto leader of the new offensive line. A new GM may want to build a whole new line of squeaky clean character guys.
Really I don't care. Fire them all first and let the new (hopefully competent) regime make the decisions on the position coaches and players. I am not being hyperbolic when I say that I don't think I can support this team (at least at the level I have) with the current regime and coaches
I would love to give you a hundred fist pumps for this comment, but unfortunately they only allow one per customer.
Keepers, for various reasons: Tannehill Matt Moore L. Miller Gillislee Hartline Wallace Matthews Gibson Marlon Moore Clay Egnew Sims Pouncey Yeatman Wake Vernon Jordan Shelby Odrick Starks resign Soliai resign Francis Misi Jenkins Grimes resign Carroll resign Wilson Clemons resign M. Thomas Taylor Davis D. Jones Fields Denney
I'd feel completely comfortable with Dion Jordan taking of Philip Wheeler's role in the defense, and just eating Wheeler's cap space and releasing him. It sucks, but there's no need to prolong what we have with him and Ellerbe
This - Matt Moore (at least at 4M) Yeatman and Nolan Carroll...these guys I can take em or leave em Add: Kacy Rodgers and Dan Campbell
I'd probably be ok with keeping the DBs coaches too. Lou Anarumo, Blue Edwards, and Jeff Burris. Yeatman should be cheap, and I like his skillset. Probably no reason to get rid of Devlin either.
Not gonna sit here and argue over Will Yeatman. I can take or leave him as a reserve though I dont see much reason to keep him.
who wouldn't I get rid of: only the players This is Ross' defining moment as owner. His and the Phins Respectability and reputation will be defined for the next 15 - 20 yrs. Which will have a lot to do with who does and does not want to come here. Both player and coach alike.
My list: Tannehill Wake Starks Odrick Grimes Clemons Carroll Clay Gibson Hartline Pouncey Fields All others can/must go.
