You know, I'm watching NFL Network right now, and I have to say, am I the only person worried that Wes Welker is going to destroy us tomorrow?
Don't get me wrong, I think we got a heckuva deal for Welker, especially with Satele holding down the O-Line, but he's the X Factor tomorrow that makes me nervous.
That's true, but we have done ok vs. NE the last few years, despite the record ... still, it's going to be an interesting day tomorrow.
i was at that dec game in 2004. in fact, it was one of the first fins games i ever went to. i couldnt believe it then, hopefully i wont be able to believe it tomorrow. we CAN pull off a W, we just need a million or so miracles
I've been praying for a Brady injury, I'm not sure if that makes me a bad person or not. In all seriousness, I do like the way our team matches up against the Patriots, for some reason our personnel gives them problems.
i'am right there with ya brother, but you know what, if he does then our front office gets what they deserve, he should have never been able to walk in the first place. How does one of the worst teams in nfl history have the audacity to get rid of a player with his skill set, character, production and toughness. Please don't give me the whole " i'll take a good center over a slot receiver any day" arguement, it has no merit because we had no idea we were getting a good center when we let him walk, basically we let him go for almost a third round pick this year..... PATHETIC
I agree, the slot receiver may be the most underrated position in the NFL today. That said, I think the compensation the Pats offered for Welker meant, at least given our current lack of talent, that we had to take the deal. Welker was the difference maker in our win against NE last year, so, if my fears come true it's going to hurt watching him kill us tomorrow.
The weather might help tomorrow they are forecasting rain and wind, the NWS issued a hign wind watch too so that may make these two teams equal.
Of course it has merit, it's what happend. Welker is a great player, but not what we needed long term. We are the Miami Dolphins, not the New England Patriots. We were not a WR away from the Superbowl last year. We have a lot more pressing needs than a good, even great slot reciever. Secound round picks can be used to fill those needs, so Wes was tendered as such. Remeber the Pats gave up a 4th for RANDY MOSS, so getting a 2nd and a 7th was pretty nice.
96 catches for 1,004 yards and 8 TDs are pretty great stats. Of course, he is on a great team, with a great offense, and a QB having one of the greatest years ever. That's a lot of greats. I know what you mean, I think he is good, and with a few more years like this one... great. And I'd still make the trade everyday and twice on sundays.
The Welker trade was terrible. It helped the Pats become unstoppable. Isn't the goal to win the division and eventually the Superbowl? We traded with our chief rival and they got the better of it, as they always do. You never make a key division rival better, ever. If that trade had been with a NFC team I wouldn't mind it but making the Pats harder to beat makes us a worse team. I disagree with the team's philosophy in trading with the Pats, we've done it before and as before they got the better in the deal. Our front office was out of its league when dealing with the Pats. This is the only place where I've read that we got the better end of that deal, the deal is universally laughed at and has made us a laughing stock in media circles. We also could have given a 1st round tender to Welker. Welker is a really really good player right now, hes better than any player we have on offense right now outside of a healthy Ronnie Brown.
no welker is not a really really good player...i loved the trade and i still like it...our offensive line would have no Satele and no vision of impromevent for that matter of fact..dont be like the media who sucks off the patriots...the fact of the matter is wes welker went to a team with a potential HOF QB and a great WR core when we had and still have nothing...they gave us 2 draft pics for a platoon player...last year reche caldwell looked good GREAT..where is he now?
non sense.. and no one would have picked him up and you would be screaming what a stupid tender we offered because Wes would only have 400 yards and 2 TD's here and was being paid first round money... We got PLENTY value in that pick.
First off, good to see you again CNC. I disagree with all of you as does the vast majority of people the watch the league. That trade is roundly and soundly lauded as a steal for the Pats, which it was. We got snookered. Who is the 1-13 team and who is 14-0? Welker has been HUGE for that team, our Oline is OK thats it. We are a worse team and we improved our key division rival. Good front offices do not make this trade. We cannot and will not win the division for 3-5 years at a minimum, you never improve your division rivals and make the division harder to win. The big picture is winning, we are farther from winning because of that trade. It was terrible.
It doesn't make you a bad person. A broken right arm would do the trick. Win or Lose , the MFers can't win it all.
