I chose Ireland because I think he is the one capable of doing the most damage to the franchise.

Firing one and not the other would be the worst possible thing for this franchise. Either fire them both and let the new GM pick his own coach or stay the course until it becomes even more obvious that they both deserve to be let go. There is no sense in wasting another year by firing only one of them.

Never take part in two choice scenarios, it's clearly a 3 dimensional thought process with both options making you worse off...Third option is STFU and re-evaluate after the season, it ain't over yet.

Philbin.... We are a better team than years past, but I've never seen us come out so flat and get manhandled by bad teams.... We can play with the best of them.....but also lay total eggs, which is a lot worse than missing on a pick here and there, or not anticipating a player quitting on you and trying to take everyone down with him ! I see Ireland as a legit GM in this league, he built this roster from the ground up, with nothing to work with but Soliai and JT.. And it's plenty good in comparison to just about any team. I really like Coach, but I'm still Skeptical on him as our leader.

Ireland clearly deserves to be fired. I think Philbin deserves a third year, but if we hire a new GM and he wants a new coach, he should be allowed to make that decision.

Ireland has to go but I think Kevin Coyle, Sherman, and Turner need to be a part of this poll as well. I think Philbin gets a third year but he'll be on thin ice after the Jets beat us.

I might prefer to have fully functionable hands/fingers, Sitting down to pee wouldn't slow you much. All that thing does is cause trouble and/or get caught between the legs. Sadly, it's my fingers that pay the bills.

No roster can win when they show up as prepared as we were in Tampa, buffalo, etc.
No young qb/offense can progress, not being handled the way Chad Henne was with the wildcat taking him off the field and back on for 3rd and longs. Coaches were fired over that, not the GM..... My gut says the people who understand the process still won't fault the GM for the coaches miscues. Now..... that's not to say he's not without fault, but you rarely see a logical argument against him. This blame assignment brigade is just clueless.

5 years? You make it sound like he made us this way. Like we were just fine until he showed up. We were actually the worst team in the league, by far.

In those 5 years , have we not compiled a roster that can win consistently? Atleast until the coaches have it showing up completely flat ?

They both need to go, IMO, but I voted Philbin, as I think Ireland's got some sort of Star Wars-esque shield or cloaking device making him invincible...

    ...or he'll get "promoted" anyway.

Sooner rather than later, they both need to be gone.

No. He has not built a roster that can win consistently, and the results prove that.

The results of the poll also say a lot. 32 of 38 voters say Ireland should be fired.

I just don't understand the desire to get rid of Joe Philbin. He and this staff have done an incredible job of player development. Joe utilizes advanced analytical methods such as using motion tracking to help him decide whether he needs to ramp up the intensity of practice or cut the practices short. He's won more games than the talent he has on this team should win. Yet, we want to fire him because we aren't a legitimate play off team yet?

Joe Philbin should get the opportunity to work with a competent GM, because as long as Jeff Ireland is around, this team will never be better than mediocre.

I'd only get rid of both together, for these reasons:

-I don't like the dynamic where a GM comes in and sticks with a lame duck coach and staff for a year, and it seems like that's what everyone wants. I'd rather house cleaning be everything.

-both GM and Coach right now are responsible for each other. Ireland has gotten rid of a lot of players that Philbin didn't like and also failed in some areas like oline, lb, rb. Philbin has made many blunders and should have won more games IMO, his staff sucks too. I think when Ireland wasn't fired before you unfortunately give him the same timeframe that the new coach gets.
