Game is interesting. Win out and we are in already. However: A Raven loss tonight gives us a chance to clinch next week if we win again and they lose again. A Raven win gives them some momentum going into their game with New England. If they win next week could take the division, also if the Ravens keep winning it remains crucial that we win as well. If they lose, their week 17 game will most likely no longer be for the division, and we will have to win out to avoid losing a tie break.
Relevant: BAL vs DET thread From all that I have read, Baltimore is the team that is in "control their own destiny" role at this point and time for the final spot in the AFC. I do know that one poster broke down many scenarios very nicely in another thread, but for simplicity, Miami needs to win out and have Baltimore lose at least once. I have read on several sites (I think even Omar Kelly said this) that Miami controls thier own destiny. I do not think this is the case, but if I am wrong, please correct me. Hence this thread: Baltimore versus Detroit. Blatimore is 1-4 on the road, notably losing to teams like Buffalo and Cleveland. Thier only road win I would like to forget. Detroit is 4-2 at home. We have a young DB calling Megatron "old". Although, Johnson seemed to laugh it off, it is still interesting. Joe Flacco has 8 TDs and 7 INTs in his last 5 games. Reggie Bush does not have any pre-game snow on which to bust a calf injury. It is a Monday night in Motown. I know we have some NFL gurus out there who can add to this. Tonight, I am a Lions fan!
I'd be very happy if we could clinch next week. Don't like needing to win divisional games. Specially cause Bills and jets will both be in "**** it, what do we have to lose" mode
It would still be tremendous for Miami if Baltimore were to drop out of the race. A loss to New England next week would also be a big deal since that means Miami wins the WC with only 9 wins even if the Chargers finish off the Chiefs and the Raiders at home.
Lions are playing a fast game. If they can keep the defense pursuing them like they are The D will be gassed early
Dream scenario would be ravens lose tonight, win next week with a Cincy loss next week with us winning. This would clinch for us and also give us a chance for the pats to lose and us to win in week 17 to get the division.
With the Bengals loss, even if the Ravens win out they will win their division by beating the Bengals week 17. So week 17 Baltimore loses and we are in or win, in which case we hold the tiebreaker with the Bengals.
CIN lost to PIT....and CIN and BAL play each other week 17. So, we control our destiny with two wins....its that simple. We would finish with 10 wins, and and if BAL gets to 10 that means they beat CIN and win the tie-breaker. If CIN wins week 17 then they win NORTH and prevent BAL from getting to 10. SD can only finish with 9! yes, a loss by BAL tonight helps from an insurance standpoint, but we dont need it as long as we win our last 2. Hope that helps. Frankly, as has been posted in many other threads...our 10 wins would grant us playoffs as either #6, #3 w/AFCE title, or even #2 seed and BYE. HOWEVER, if we dont win both, yes, we too could miss the playoffs. Thats the math. Its crazy!
Cinci and Ravens play week 18. If Cinci win, Ravens are 9-7, and if we win both our games we are 10-6, we are in on record. If Ravens win, Ravens win the division at 10-6, and we hold tie breaker over Cinci at 10-6.
I just almost died of shock. Ive never seen Calvin Johnson drop a pass like that. Not even in college.
Thanks for the explanation guys! With the immense influx of threads, I have not had the opportunity to see this. Much appreciated!
Not to mention Denver has the pressure on them after the bye week and it's Manning in cold weather. A team like K.C. that played them close twice could go in there and beat them.
Ravens are a different team on the road. So good at M&T. Championship under their belts, though, can't count em out. They're the one team I could see getting on a 2011 Giants-like roll. Hope not though.
I clicked on the this thread with the intent of saying what you just said. That and I can't watch the game because I am in a big rig truck parked at a Walmart parking lot in some city in New York in 7 degree weather in the snow. So I hope you guys do a good job keeping me updated. Lol
How great would it be for the Ravens to lose tonight ...then we play Buffalo at 1:00 Sunday , beat them ...then watch the Pats/ Ravens at 4:00 knowing were in the drivers seat with a playoff spot on the line. Week 17 would mean nothing.
Yeah I'm a truck driver and I'm at the same place. We have so many rules. We can't drive more than 70 hours in 8 days. I am out of drive time because of that so I have to either wait til midnight to gain hours according to how many hours I drove 8 days ago or take a 34 hour reset to get a fresh 70 hours. So I am taking a 34 hour reset. I keep going into Walmart looking for jets fans to punch in the face. I'm probably closer to bills fans though. The weird thing is the only person I saw wearing a football hat was a Seahawks fan. I am wearing my dolphins hat proudly!
Where do you sleep? Doesn't sound to comfortable. At least you have Internet to follow the games, hope you find a jet fan soon
Nope. I plan on getting it as soon as I can afford it. I just started 4 months ago. I bought a CB and a fridge. I watch the dolphins on my NFL Sunday ticket app. That's what I did while driving yesterday. I mainly just listened to it while glancing down at my phone every now and then.
