It is a classic case of a backup who has hung around long enough to fully grasp the game; get comfortable with it; and then goes to a team that has put its talent together very well. They have a proven exceptional RB. They have two big-time stud WR's - one who has matured and is playing great; the other who is under his wing and is basically a clone (Jeffery - whom I wish we had drafted instead of creepy Martin!).
The offense around him is ridiculously talented. No way he has that success even with our current roster.
I've always liked McCown, but he's a player that needs the right system. He can't work in every or even most systems b/c he's always been too undisciplined. He's always had decent skills but not enough to overcome his lack of discipline. (By "discipline" I'm referring to his game being sloppy, poor eye discipline, poor reads, too many throws into coverage, etc.). Trestman has done a great job with McCown. But RT is a QB who has enough skill to work in just about every system. The system still matters, b/c it can be the difference between RT becoming a good QB and a great one.
The Bears have won a lot of games over the last decade with bad to average QBs. That's why I'd look at poaching someone from their organization
1) Yes, yes you are. 2) Yes, yes it was. 3) I do believe Henne did suffer from moronic coaches that couldn't develop a lump of ****.
