Sucks. Hope he can fully recover though. He had 4 picks in the limited time he played. RJ Stanford placed on IR as well.
If you told me before the season that Patterson would have 4 INTs, I'd have taken it, regardless of how many games he played. Will be interesting to see how the rest of his career plays out.
Possibly by default, although I'm not sure Philbin/Coyle trusts either one of them all that much just yet.
Patterson obviously made some big plays while he was out there, but he got hurt in the first game. Never healthy. I think that we can guarantee that he wont be back at the salary he's on the books for in 2014. Maybe a smaller, non-guaranteed deal, but thats it.
Will Davis maybe, probably not Jamar Taylor. If anything, this move was probably made because of how well Carroll and Wilson have been playing. Wilson can play both the nickel corner and spell either of the safeties, and Carroll has been balling out.
Taylor's played more between the two rookies this year, but for whatever reason he just can't stay healthy more than a game at a time it seems. I think Dimitri Patterson's days in Miami are over, at least temporarily. That's $5.4MM in cap money, with no hit, that releasing him frees up.
I would hope Patterson would take a low contract with us after we cut him, incentive laden, he's a really good corner man, he reacts to the ball vey well, and initiates instead of waiting, he's a playmaker... I would absolutely nurture the relationship in the offseason..he drove me mad this year because I was high in him going into the season, thought Richard Marshall should of been cut and saw some flashes that I hadn't seen in a while the year before.. The dude better train with the best, my services are available..cook, train, play..
Dimitri Patterson & RJ Stanford placed on IR. Good thing we drafted corners in round 2 and 3.....oh wait....
Sucks man. He was playing like an absolute ball hawk.. I wish he didnt have a groin made of tissue paper.
Patterson was playing very well, but his Glass Joe reputation followed him here. I'd still like to bring him back but not at the 5.4 million. Gotta re-sign Nolan and Grimes.
Had hoped Patterson could dial up the unicorn magic to heal his injury..alas Fortunately, we are fairly deep at Cb, though in limited duty Taylor has not impressed. So in the final analysis, would it have been better to have kept Marshall? 56 tackles so far for Marshall, no int's
I would go deep in the crotchal region...I was high on that dude, those flashes in his first year were no joke..
Not gonna happen. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...elds-in-talks-for-contract-extension/3786259/
Why did he play last week? Should have been sat for remainder of the season and maybe played a bit in jets game at end of season had it been a game we need to win or we already made the playoffs and throw him in just to get some practice reps
Damn...too bad Shields couldn't pass our "test" coming out of college, fortunately for him Green Bay couldn't care less if an UDFA can't recall one of their position coaches' names.
Davis to me seems like the perfect guy to matchup with a guy like Edelman or Amendola. He can match their quicks no problem, won't get overpowered physically, and those two aren't great deep threats.
Im very anxious to see Davis play. I thought he was the better CB between him and Taylor. Taylor certainly has the higher ceiling but it seems to me Davis ready now. I really think he's going to be a pleasant surprise for us both now and long term.. Glad hes getting a chance
