"We can't give up the pick six. I don't think it was all his fault....." - Philbin on Tannehill during presser HERE Thoughts? Tannehill goes on to say in his presser that it was on him, so at least he owns it.
That's a good play by Polamalu. He's a hard player for a young QB to read. Very unpredictable, moves all over the place, very aggressive. I think that's a play Ryan could have avoided, but at the same time, there is no shame in getting picked like that by Polamalu.
I put that on Sherman and Tanny. That same play has been picked off and almost picked off multiple times this season.
yeah, let's give the HOF-caliber safety some credit on this one. Ryan deserves some blame, but credit where credit is due.
Yup all on Tanny. Philbin just protecting his qb. Tannehill does stills have his wtf moments, but he seems very confident and has a short memory after a pick.
It's troubling that Philbin said he doesn't think it was all Tanne's fault. Tanne threw two pic sixes today one of which was dropped. A Very troubling comment by Philbin that tips his hand to Sherman and Tanne's side over the team. I may be taking it out of context, but that's a progress stopper.
Just who's fault does Philbin think it was then? Or is he just trying to take some heat off Ryan for it? At least Tannehill owns it, it wasnt a great decision to throw that pass even if Polamalu doesn't make a great play on it probably.
Troy P. started that play at the Left Guard position. Great play by him. HSAT, there have been several plays in which a linebacker follows Ryan's eyes, and floats underneath routes to disrupt/intercept plays, similar to what Troy did that play. Tannyhill isn't catching that often.
If Polamalu doesn't drop that one on the first possession, he coulda had two. Special player that one.
Let's cut Philbin some slack. It's not like he broke down the film yet. Edit: Plus, Philbin said that he doesn't think it's ALL his fault.
No if Philbin's expectations of his QB are that low, he's never going to have a team that excels much less meets expectations. Maybe it was the wrong route, all I can think of is he knows something we don't because that ball should have been thrown elsewhere.
Troy P was lined up as a DT, ran 15 yds in less than 2 seconds and picked the ball off Good play on his part
I was furious with Tannehill until I saw the replay. It was a very well-designed defensive call -- Polamalu came across the other side of the field and took away Tanny's primary read. RT didn't see him until the ball was released. Tom Brady threw a similar interception vs. Cleveland today. If we're going to criticize Tannehill for anything, it should be for the near pick-six he threw to Polamalu on the first drive. It was a poor read, he telegraphed the pass, and he's lucky it was dropped.
Possibly. I just thought it was interesting he pointed it out that way. I would think he would have just said something along the lines of "We can't do that," instead of saying what he said. There may be nothing to it, but a little Freudian slip may be in there somewhere.....
Hey..sometimes players juet make great plays..Troy isn't a future HOF cuz he sucks...he's done that to a lot of QB Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
It was an extremely bad call at that point and time given the circumstances: - Defense had just gave up an easy score to PB. - Special teams called for holding on the return, backing us up to our own 10. - Thomas slipped and fell at the 4. - We were in the shadow of our EZ and that is a play we rely on and go to too often. That play has caused too many INTs all season. Was easy for the defenders to expect it in that situation and be ready to jump the route.
Charles made Troy look stupid a few times today. Troy looked absolutely stunned when clay scored the last td. His reaction was gif worthy.
IMO your QB shouldn't be looking off quick hitting plays. This was supposed to be a quick hitting play that got slowed down due to the conditions and some aggressive CB play. That made RT hold the ball a bit longer and Troy made a great play. That is one of the reason I hate the "locks on" criticism you so often hear. Critics most often point to plays where the QB is supposed to lock on. Reality is that RT has pretty decent eye discipline.
