Is there enough room to sign Starks, Grimes, and Soliai?

    LOL @ the Salguero backtracking.

Then again, humility is a good thing to have.

We still aren't in the playoffs yet. I hate how we have to depend on a team, the defending champions, to lose to get in, when Ireland's negligence to shore up that line was a contributing factor in that loss. That being said, his players get to the dance and his decisions look a whole lot more legitimate.

This isn't news, Ireland was extended months ago. Of course they'd leak this it after a big road win, savvy and transparent at the same time.

Contract extensions don't mean anything. Sparano was fired after signing a 2 year extension.

This team messes with voodoo like it's candy. The last time Miami leaked something about Jeff Ireland, they lost 4 straight. I hope it's just coincidental.

Considering I doubt the players care much unless they are simply playing for Irelands job....which makes no sense, I'd have to say any wins or losses will be unrelated.

Sparano was extended as a cosmetic gesture AFTER Ross and Ireland were caught trying to hire his replacement.

But whatever, keep the faith dude :wink2:

Which was the right thing to do given the circumstances. You can't have a coach come out and admit he's leaving the team in the middle of the season.

Armando is a mouthpiece for Jeff Ireland. He's spent weeks trying to shift the blame to the coaching staff, as their is a rift between the head coach and general manager on this team.

I don't consider Stephen Ross to be stupid, but he would be incredibly stupid to not fire Jeff Ireland after this season. Jeff has proven that he is not capable of building a complete, 53 man roster. If he is retained, I fully expect him to blow more money in free agency and have yet more gaping holes that keep this team from advancing further. I hope he realizes how much ticket sales will suffer if he keeps him.

If Ross is smart, he will bring in an intelligent executive that shares Joe Philbin's thoughts on football and advanced analytics to replace Jeff Ireland.

    That would be quite unfortunate.

Aside from it being unnecessarily premature, it doesn't change the mistakes Ireland has made and the obstacles he's created for the current team.

Edit: The extension itself is meaningless.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is retained. Jeff Ireland is the nightmare that won't end. The **** stain you cannot flush. The Herpes for which there is no cure.

Keeping Ireland in the worst case scenario means a stagnation, he'll over-compensate for perceived holes and not do a good job compensating for potential issues.

Keeping Joe Philbin is much more dangerous, but I'm assuming that's going to occur too if Ireland is staying.

This is ridiculous. The team has improved from last season and has a legitimate shot at the playoffs but our fans want the gm fired.

That isn't how football works or life for that matter.

I don't agree. Ireland is so much more dangerous. Especially when factoring in the fan base and perception of the team as well as his reputation.

I'm sure the players think fans who want Ireland fired are being disrespectful to their own team...the players got paid by him and their playing very well as a team and have a good chance at the postseason.

Fans taking a hard stance, you might have to rethink everything you thought about the team if they keep winning...

They just had a very impressive win, a taking a jump to another level type win, lets give these players a chance.

The fans loved Jimmy, Saban, and Parcells, all of whom went for the quick fix then quit in the face of adversity so Ireland should wear his lack of popularity as a badge of honor.

Yeah man, i dont really get it either. Its become a personal vendetta at this point. We have a good young team getting better, hopefully set up for years to come. Weve hung tough with every team but one this year. Winning record with inexperienced 2nd year qb.

Sorry, but keeping Jeff is by far the worst thing Stephen Ross can do. It is the singular thing that is keeping this team from advancing further. Jeff Ireland has proven that he is not a capable general manager. Jeff Ireland cannot put together a complete roster, and he is too willing to overspend in free agency to fill perceived holes while creating other holes in the process. I also highly doubt that Jeff uses advanced analytics much, and if you are going to be a successful team in today's NFL, you need to embrace advanced analytics.

I think we should fire everyone.

This team is doing decent things DESPITE the coaching. Philbin is alright but the coordinators and some positional coaches are ****ing terrible. If we had better coaching and an average offensive line we are looking at a 9-4 record and a showdown for the division next week.

I think you are really overestimating the impact coaching has. Our biggest problem is the lack of elite players and an incomplete team.

Yet we have a historically bad offensive line, no impact return specialist, and overall a lot of players who simply do not fit what the head coach wants to do including the big money free agent receiver who didn't make any impact today.

I will say one thing that pisses me off about Ireland's lack of popularity is that I'm sure it has had an impact on fan attendance because of the negative vibe that has permeated SF.

If the local fanbase wasn't so apathetic and actually showed up, the crowd noise could have been the difference in some of our games namely the Buffalo game and the Carolina game. I'm not even kidding as we see what it does for the Seahawks.

Another reason to fire him. Not only is he not good at his job, but he also effects the organization negatively at the ticket booth. There is really no possible positive outcome to keeping him. He is a poor GM who is widely hated by fans and players a like.
