it is actually lucky in a way that he did get forced on the field this year, he is playing better and the fans are now back off him being a bust

    Colorado Dolfan ...dirty drownin' man?

Concur. Not only would I not be bothered, but I wouldn't be surprised at all... If he stays healthy he's a keeper, he just can't... :(

first game of the year, the guy battled to get into the starting lineup by week eight last year and did not make it through the first half of the redskins game, it is a shame, YB was on the cusp of being very special

His instincts and ball hawking skills aren't the greatest. That's what I noticed at Tennessee and I doubt it will ever change. All the talk about great athletic ability didn't impress me much because he never jumped out as someone who would instinctively adjust and snag the ball out of nowhere.

Still, at least he's where he belongs at safety. The frame always looked like a safety. You don't want to make this too complicated. If there's a question whether a guy is a safety or corner, a good guess is he's not fast enough and doesn't cover well enough to be a top NFL corner.

When we pick someone in the first round I want it to be a guy who wowed me in college. A "yeah, that guy is special!" type of player. That's why I had no problem with Ted Ginn and the home run speed. But Ronnie Brown always looked like a 2nd round back, and indeed that was his grade after junior year. Jason Allen has 2nd or 3rd round instincts, at best.

Oh I can agree with that, he may be a natural athlete, but he is a stiff football player, he is fearless, but read and reacting is not his forte'..right now. Dedication and study can improve his game overall, I'm just not certain if we have anyone on staff who can show JA how to do that in a way that works for Allen.

Hustle and study is just as much a talent as a a 4.4 40 time is.

And a 1st round pick in his slot (12-20) should be able to "wow", the only time Allen does that is when he can line someone up and lower the boom like he did to Jacobs in London.

Ronnie is a good all around back, the way Curtis Martin was, he can do everything you could ask of him, but he is just hurt to much to rely on..so far...5 tool backs are rare Awsi, and what makes RB valuable in the long term is even if he loses that top flight speed, he can still catch and block and power run.

I am glad we have Jason Allen, he is improving, but when we hire a DC, how long it will take him to adjust to a new scheme may be a problem for him, maybe a large enough problem that we try to trade him this offseason while he has shown something this year..

I think the kid can be a force, he needs stability and coaching for his talent to shine!
