James 4:11 Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.

Psalms 52:2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Proverbs 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

It's times like these I wish there were a hell, so people like Phelps could rot in it.

I've had the opportunity to see this scumbag in person (sadly, Phelps leads a Kansas church ... sigh), and he's quite simply a vile excuse for a human being.

Only Phelps would be dumb enough to criticize Tim Russert.

    Douchbag.

    :pity:

for the most part, only his inbred family is impressed with him. They making a living by starting fights and then suing for some settlement. These guys rile me up, but it's best to just ignore them.

you'd have to say hell for all the pain, suffering and anger he has purposefully caused, but he can always be forgiven.

they must all be passing a collective brick now that California is allowing same-sex marriages

It is arrogant in the extreme to make such a pronouncement and frankly in my view a violation of the first commandment.

While someone is alive it is permissible, it can even be loving, to admonish someone's behavior. You may or may not be correct but mutual consolation and correction is a long established Chreistian principle. However, once someone has died to annouce God's damnation is to place oneself in God's judgement seat and that is very much "sin" by all classic understandings.

It's people like this that make a mockery of Christianity.
He mis-uses the Bible for his own power. These kind of people are the ones that turn others away from Christ and give the REAL Christians a bad name.
I love my Lord and things that he said really upset me. Our God is an awesome God with love and forgiveness for all that ask for it.
I will pray for this man, while hating the things he says. He needs to read the Bible as you're supposed to and worry about his own salvation, instead of his hate talk.

I don't want to diminish the ugliness of this idiot's diatribe or be disrespectful of Tim Russert but I do have a story related to this group y'all might enjoy.

Back in 2001 our denomination was holding its biennial assembly in Indianapolis. A sizable group from this fellow's mob (I refuse to honor it by calling it a congregation) was there to demonstarte against us because we refused to denounce homosexuality and join him in consigning them to hell. (as if we could do that) They were among the most vile speaking, disgusting folks I have ever seen. Their speech was hateful. One member of our party was black and he was especially singled out for a racist diatribe.

We had been admonished not to engage them because they were looking for a physical confrontation to get on the news and start a lawsuit. It was a difficult task but no one from our assembly (nearly 2000 folks) took the bait.

That is not the ironic part of the story however. On the Friday evening we were there a crowd of folks came out of the parking garage of the convention hotel and started down the street. For those of you who don't know Indy, the convention center is adjacent to the RCA dome. One of the mob jumped in front of a fellow in the group wearing a Peyton Manning jersey and launched into his verbal routine. Very quickly the guy in the jersey pulled back and decked the guy with one punch. Cleanest KO I have ever seen live!

The mob was ecstatic and the police jumped right in. Unfortunately for the unconscious fellow he had not gotten a Church member but some unknowing Colts fan on his way to an exhibiton game in the dome next door. While we had all been asked to "turn the other cheek", this Colts' fan felt no urgency to do so. Because the victim on the ground had first "assualted" the Manning fan but jumping in front of him and screaming in his face the police decided no blood, no foul (OK, there was some blood, but the police were grinning and chose to ignore it.)

I got to be noble and still enjoy it. Not a bad evening.

Well the video is already gone. Its for the better, as I probably would have thrown up anyways while listening to it.

Remember this man and his "church", are the ones that protested military funerals in this country, saying the troops that died, deserved to die, because America allows "****" (his word) to live and protects their rights.

Calling this guy a douche is an insult to douches :sidelol:

It's not up to "me" to say one or another what these merry crew's final desitnation is, that is not in the Christian Purview to pronounce his Doom or even Elevation.

There is a history of speaking unpopular things in Christianity, for example John the Baptist was beheaded for speaking out against Herod's marriage, however it can be safely assumed that his motives were impeccable, the same cannot be said of the Phelps Cult as I don't recall any of John's relatives filing lawsuits for damages...

The problem with that is that he and his followers would enjoy the martyr status such an action would accord. I do my best to ignore such folks and continue to live by my principals which, in the end, is the best answer.

I appreciate that philosophy. Ignoring him is giving him the opposite of what he wants. But, isn't he doing real damage to people lives?

More then likely, what's worse he is slandering Christ (IMO), to claim he is a Christian, then to taunt mourners at a funeral is not Christian at all.

That group does have access to the first amendment, just like everyone else, even disdainful speech is protected for good or ill.

i would say we judge people for who they are and act accordingly as individuals. unless he breaks any of our laws, we let him do his thing and support those he "touches". it's not my place to judge,i would think that judging will be done later and by an appropriate source.

what's that saying? Karma is a *****...
