All week we heard how amazing the Jets front seven was. Listening to the pre game show, Armando said we would be doing well if we only gave up 4 sacks. Channing Crowder said we CANT run on the Jets.

Why is our Oline playing so much better now, then they did earlier in the season? If we had been playing like this earlier, I have no doubt we are winning the division right now. So, is it coaching? Was it...addition by subtraction getting rid of two players were the focus wasn't on O line play?

What is your opinion as to why this line has exceeded expectations lately.

Good point, our OL has really came together as a unit and collectively improved.

The one sack really stuck out to me. Pretty amazing. But, there also seemed to be a number of quick hitters which helps. RT got rid of the ball well. Nevertheless the OL is playing much better without Martin and Incognito.

Glad to see. If the OL played that well all year we'd probably be 8-4 at this point.

I think continuity is really important for the o-line and most of these players are just starting to get familiar with each other.

In other threads I've advocated bringing most of them back on the relative cheap and build through the draft. I still support this position. Today's a confidence builder for sure.

This was the best performance of the year from top to bottom. Everyone was stellar today.

    Tremendous bounce back game!

I don't think we should be getting too excited about the offensive line play. They let up a fair amount of pressure today, and Tannehill took some big hits as he was throwing- It's just that the strength of the Jets pass rush is almost entirely the middle, where you're not going to convert as much pressure to sacks. Blitz pick-up was pretty good, but if the Jets had halfway decent edge rushers it would be ugly.

Thought we played a confident game against a team we knew we could beat.

Think the OL more or less took advantage of the aggressiveness of the Jest front 7 and even then, there was a massive ToP tilt in our favor...they just wore down.

McKinnie is still not sustaining blocks and I suspect Pouncey is tipping plays via his stance

Well..you can say that Gusti..but...please tell me you qould think we would both be able to limit them to one sack and rush for over a hundred yards. No body else has rushed for 100 yards against them.

Tannehill is improving his pocket movement. He is getting off tackles, rolling away or escaping the pocket to get yards much better as well. He's doing a better job of throwing the ball away too.

Pouncey gets zero push. Absolutely zero. Our short yardage game has been **** since he's started. He's an amazing puller, but has little strength. When Garner was in there, we could convert one yard to go plays.

I would not be against moving him in the offseason.

Tannehill also played Houdini a couple times. That is something he hadn't done before. Also they werent trying to comeback and score late, which, I think a fair share of the sacks came from.

We still had too many situations where we need to be able to run the ball and couldn't. 4th and 1 at the goal line needs to be a run. 3rd and 1 in other parts of the field. You need to be able to gain a yard when you have to on the ground. We can't. It's a combination of things. Poor play design is one cause. Poor blocking is another. Not hitting the hole quick enough is another. Not hitting the right hole is another.

Thing is, I think Joe Philbin is a coach that ultimately wants to use the running game as a constraint play anyway.

Good idea. Let's trade one of the best centers in the NFL. We don't have any other problem positions to address, so I don't think it would hurt us to create a hole this off season!

Didn't hear Clabo's name called today so I suspect the Jets had injuries at DE. The sack was a missed assignment by Gardner. The lack of short yardage is Ireland's decision that we don't need a FB.

I don't think you can blame Ireland for the lack of a fb. I'm sure it's the offensive gameplan.

I also think they partly consider Clay a fb type player.

The Jets front 7 are very good, our Oline has played better without Martin and Incognito.

But also, not to stick up for the Jets defense, but when your offense has the ball for 6 minutes in the first half, its hard to keep playing well.

You think he's one of the best centers? I don't. I see a guy who gets pushed back every time he's not pulling in the run game. I lost count of how many 3rd and 1 and 4th and one opportunities we have missed. A lot of that has to do with the center and the two guards. No power there. The center of the line buckles and the only way we convert is if the runner gets real creative.

I think you could get a good return for him. I would certainly not make it a priority to trade him, but if a good opportunity presented itself, I would definitely consider it.

72 yards for Miller. 23 for Tannehill on surprising runs to pick up yards and 1st downs. No one saw that coming...

  24. I can not really make up my mind if Miami had a good game or if the Jets had a bad one. I suspect its partially a little of both. I did not see anything that I would consider is a marked improvement by the Dolphins. They just flat out executed the Jets at every position. The Dolphins showed up prepared to play and the Jets did not. Hopefully they collectively put that slump they were in behind them and finish out the remainder of the season strong.

I have seen a noticeable improvement on our O-Line since Martin and Incognito have been out of the line up. I do wonder if this group of guys have better chemistry together. It was also encouraging to see Wallace being more involved in the Offense. Hopefully that chemistry is beginning to happen between him and Tanny.

All in all it was a good win to build on and a much needed one to restore some moral.

This was a great win for Miami. Jets were just as much in the playoff hunt as we were and we roasted them. We had a poor first half but crushed them in the second, which is great cause we usually do it the other way.

    Dude....

It was a good game. Trust me. Why does everyone want to slam the team when they are bad.....but when they win...its because the other team basically forfeited.

They played well but... They did give up that int, and the deep ball to Brian tann was hit.. Lesser teams like the jets can't do nothing with that.. A better team would have made us pay.. But... 2nd half was great and I think guys want a job next year..

I think that its a little of everything. I think that all of our interior OL are back next year to compete minus Incognito, but Clabo is gone. Id see if McKinnie wants to come back on a moderate two year deal just in case we cant bring in someone better, but I'd definately look to bring in a better RT via UFA, a lesser priced guard the same way, and draft a LT in the first.

Disgustipate will cross swords, or words, with anyone. But, he, like a number of us, are never quite satisfied with the effort we see right now. First down inside the ten should end up with more than a field goal most of the time. We should not have to pass from the one, and a two runs from the one yard should be a lot more of a makable proposition than it is right now. I think what Disgustipate wants is what I also want, a team that can handle anything thrown at it with aplomb, and not have plays which cause us out there watching to wonder how they will foul it up this time - which has been far to easy to witness for a long, long, long time! We would rather shake our heads in amazement when they fail to make the play than breathe a huge sigh of relief when they succeed.

Thought we were going to get mauled like usual versus their very good d-line. I'll admit the ineptitude of the Jets offense is the big reason we were able to stick with the running game to keep a balanced offense and not allow their defense to T off blitzes imo.

we had a great half totally dominated the ****s on both sides of the ball. we just didn't score enough points in relation to the offensive performance, Miami had the ball for like 24 minutes of the first half and slowed down on the 4th quarter, they didn't want to humiliate the Jets, it was obvious.
