The funny part to me about the value talk is, there's an owner in the same town who by design has lost profit in order to win championships. Guess it just depends on your priorities as an owner though. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
Ireland spent something like $180 million in free agency this year. You better believe that winning now was the expectation.
It is not about making a profit. It is about getting value. Mickey Arison has an organization that valued high usage, high efficiency players that they spent their money on, though Bosh is overpaid. He essentially said that he was not spending big money on a high usage, low efficiency shot chucker, so he got two of the highest usage, highest efficiency players he could and spent his money there. Then he brought in a moderate usage/moderate efficiency player in Chris Bosh because he could space the floor for the other two.
I have no problem with the Jordan selection because he was just the better player at the pick. What we have to question was the Albert non-acquisition. Was he asking too much? Did we balk at the trade asking price? As for o-linemen, it looks like we'll have to go to the FA well yet again to shore up at least two spots.
I think they'd say they're on the verge of building a consistent winner as opposed to chasing a playoff appearance or looking for a one year turn around.
Which is what they have said for how many years now? Name me another GM that has kept his job with Ireland's record.
Um, 2 years? Parcells came in and immediately signed a bunch of past their prime guys, mortgaging the future for quick results. What Ireland is doing now is pretty much the exact opposite.
Good point. My guess is they didn't want to give up the high pick AND the big contract. Obviously it bit them in the *** but I can understand why they didn't pull the trigger.
yes and It makes me so sick I want just go up to our dumb *** gm and just kick him in the nutts . then make Ross fire him .
both A + B + C combined a) we already gave up a 2nd rounder for Jordan so our ammunition was diminished and we still had draft needs, so just about all thoughts of trading for Albert went out the window when Oakland said yes. b) Albert is a FA next year and won't be back in KC so we essentially would've been renting him for 1 year at the steep price of a 2nd rounder. It's in the team's best future interest to hold that 2nd and then pick up Albert next year. c) we already drafted a LT whom we hoped could do a serviceable job when considering a and b above.
