Four more years? He may actually play that long, but the chances of him being useful for more than a year are two are between slim and none. The list of running backs who were any good at age 35 is pretty damn short.

I heard he is trying to get a three digit number for his uniform...420

I did some very off-the-cuff research and found that the only running backs who were still effective at age 35 were Emmitt Smith and Marcus Allen. It is just about unheard of for a running back to be worth a damn that late in his career. The idea of Williams still playing for this team at anything close to a respectable level in 2012 is infinitesimal.

you keep implying things that are not true. i never said i wanted JT gone because he is/has been holding out. i said if he is grudgingly going to play for us because all his other options are gone, THEN i don't want him on this team that is trying to rebuild itself. i have made no excuses nor have i said what Ricky did was acceptable. i have only said that i understand what caused his reactions and for that, i can forgive him but not forget. if his being here for how ever long gives Ronnie the chance to work back to his pre-injury form, then fantastic. if he flakes before the end of TC, then we have other options.

JT is contractually obligated to attend mandatory offseason functions. until he reports for TC on the 25/26th, i am going to assume he is going to continue his stand. that makes his actions to this point, and possibly through preseason, no better than what Ricky did 3 years ago and right now, is very much a laughingstock of this team. his antics are emabarrassing no matter what excuse you want to give HIM. he is a distraction on a team that is trying to re-define itself.

and the truely ironic thing is that no matter you think about him, Ricky, right now is more of a team leader than JT. he is attending. he is teaching. he is
setting positive examples and saying all the right things.

The one thing Ricky has going for him is he doesn't have as much wear and tear on him as the other 34 y/o RB's did.

How are you or anyone outside the team going to know what reason JT wil stay on the team or why? And you basically typed AGAIN that you do not want JT on the team..
So again because JT has voiced his displeasure and been missing in camp with this new regime after 12 years he is less valuable (expendable) then a guy who has been suspended 4 or 5 times because of using illegal drugs and decides to just retire an entire season?

I agree with JT honoring his contract but how in the world can you predict what is going to transpire?

I completely disagree except for JT being a distraction. Comparing williams past to what has been going on with JT is grabbing at straws and very laughable.

 Calling williams a "leader" and "teacher" is like referring to D Wannstedt as a D Shula disciple..

This would be nice. After having not worn my Ricky jersey in two years it will be nice to get another 4 years out of it.

We could do much worse than to have a player of Ricky's caliber backing up Ronnie. All I can say is Run Ricky Run!

I'm proud to know that there's a couple of fans who look past "what happend" and have hope for the future.
I agree with you guys. We should be grateful to have Ricky on our squad.
Shunning, doubting and hating him doesn't help....AT ALL.
How does anyone know the amount of marijuana Ricky was smoking? How can anyone call him an addict? Especially when marijuana isn't physically addictive...
I see Ricky's interviews and although I notice a little defiance towards the media, I see a MAN now. Not a shy, anxious, nervous wreck like I used to.
I'm glad to see him back in shape, dedicated and working out with purpose.
I think his past drug use is a non-issue. The only thing that might hinder a comeback is his age and lack of NFL productivity in the last 5 years.

I might be the minority but I'll be at the home opener, screaming my guts out for Ricky.... he deserves to know that at least ONE fan doesn't judge him on what the media says.

:lol:you make me laugh! it is amazing how you spin everything that i say to fit your vision how things are. you carry on with your man-crush for JT and hate-on for Ricky. it's clear you are not paying attention to what i have written and continue to get what you want from it. at least if you are going to hate someone, understand them. here is some info for you to distort and sway into your point of view.

Ricky williams did not disrepect you, he disrepected himself and his family and he has to live with that, his actions were not mean spirited, i dont judge football players about the mistakes they made in their own life because i never walked in their shoes, iam compassionate enough to understand when someone wants out for personal reasons or weaknesses, especially if those reasons are not ego driven. you have some learning to do about life IMO...NICE ANALOGY BUDDY

let it go man.......just let it go

    Very very
And I can respond the same exact words back at you!

I have no "man-crush" on ANY player,, Just total respect!
And whether you want to admit this or not, JT has earned the write to be respected..

As for hating williams,, maybe you can forgive and make thousands of excuses for ricky but I remember the exact feelings flowing over me when the news broke that williams was retiring and done for ther 04 season..

"it is amazing how you spin everything that i say to fit your vision how things are."
And that same very phrase seemingly DOES apply to your fasination of doobie toting ricky...

As for "distorting info".. You are like most of the other ricky lovers, forgiving him for being a self serving jack@$$ because of his mental illness..
If you can forgive and forget what williams DID to this team then more power to you!
Sorry --- but just because I do not agree with your opinion that doesn't mean that you are right and I am wrong..

If williams is some sort of living martyr in your eyes :sidelol: so- be- it! But do not expect others to follow your LOGIC...

i was planning this long retort for you, going back through all of our interactions and was compiling all the quotes that showed you just were not listing to what i was saying to show you exactly your direct contradiction of what i specifically said. as the list grew, and grew and grew, it was clear that just repeating the same things over was not going to make a difference. so. looking back through those "quotes", it occurred to me that you are willing to accept certain "facts" to prove JT is not being selfish in his actions and not accepting the same or similar "facts" when slamming on Ricky.

to make this discussion equal, or even on somewhat of a level field, just for the sake of discussions here, we will discount similar or same facts equally and then look at what we have. if after that you are not willing to at least look at the situation, even if you do not accept, then, as far as i'm concerned this discussion will be over for me.

as our discussion has progressed, it is clear that you want to let JT have his moment because of the actions of the FO and coaches for the past 8 years. couple that with his desire to win a championship and the fact that has been arguably the best defensive player this team has ever known as well as DPOY, and that is your case for defending JT's actions these past four years(because, really he has been acting like an *** since the pre-season of Sabans first year).

Ricky, coming off of a four game suspension season just prior, had the rushing title just the season before and had three 1000 yard season in a row. he was the only real offensive weapon this team had and Wannstedt was just brutal in his usage of him. he clearly was in distress with the four game suspension the previous season and the FO seemed to be trying to help but clearly he needed more. Wanny was just going to run him into the ground again. if you had read that article that i posted in in previous thread, then you would know that people with Ricky's condition often do things that they can tell you are not right. they clearly know right from wrong and still do these things for no appearant reason. just a fact of his condition. the fact that he was suspended for a failed drug test the previous season should have sent up flares, not just flags, to the FO that there was a problem. especially if they knew about his condition.

ok. here is where the fun begins. since the FO and coaching are part of your reason for accepting JT's actions and are unwilling to accept the same for Ricky, we eliminate that for both. JT was DPOY as well as arguably the best defensive player we have ever had. Ricky was Rushing title holder and clearly (stat wise) the best RB we have had to his breakdown (hopefully RB breaks his stats before it all done, but i digress..). done. both gone. JT just plain deserves a chance at a title, few would disagree including me. Ricky has a documented mental health disorder that he will probably be working on the remainder of his life. both gone.

so, what is left? let's see... JT has and probably(notice: probably, not will) will continue to hold out on a Two year contract. Ricky suddenly retires the night before TC begins.

if JT holds out any longer, and i hope he reports for camp, then both have been done for ultimately selfish reasons. for you to say that JT is justified because of his circumstances and then say Ricky is selfish because of his, is out of line. you may not like Ricky and a lot of fans do not, and that is O.K. understanding both circumstances i can forgive Ricky his actions though, as i have stated before, i do not forget.

to me JT's current actions are superficial and completely selfish. his whining the past four pre seasons is getting old to me. if we are unable to accomodate his wishes and trade him to a team that he is O.K. with and he decides to report, i hope he comes to camp with a positive attitude. we could use his talent. otherwise i don't want him here while this "New Regime" tries to build something positive.
