Pouncey being out pretty much cancels out the fact that Charles Johnson is out for the Panthers. I'm sure Patterson being out would be a huge blow to the defense right? I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong area or if a thread has already been made, I'm new to the forum, so I apologize. I just want to hear what Miami has to say.
well...oddly enough the Offensive Line performed pretty well without Pouncey last week. But Losing Patterson is a big blow. Patterson gives us TWO damn good corners, and makes us IMO an elite defense, (Top 5) Without him, we can be rather mediocre.
Oh without a doubt not having them is big. Im not so upset about Patterson because your more of power team.. But..would have loved to see Pouncey Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
The Dolphins have proven that they can play and win without both players. On the flipside, the Dolphins also know what it's like to play without it's top pass rusher. Now Carolina will find out what that's like.
Even though Charles Johnson has more sacks he is far from our best pass rusher, Greg Hardy has a few less sacks but puts far more pressure and hits on the QB, it will still hurt us though.
Just wanted to post this for those whom have not seen it yet... Would have liked pouncey but his long term health is more important than this game.Patterson is meh. Yes, he would have helped but it's more surprising when he's in the lineup than out.
Losing an impact pass rusher changes an entire gameplan. One of the big reasons for our wins is game-changing plays by Cameron Wake. It has impacted us in our losses as well. You take Mario Williams off the Bills and Terrell Suggs off the Ravens and we win both games - and the Bills game handedly. Don't underestimate the loss of a top pass rusher.
Our defense just isn't built like that.. Star Lotulelei and the interior cause such huge holes it's unbelievable. You could put anyone out there and they could get a sack. Like I said before, Johnson isn't even our best pass rusher. You can probably guess that I'm a little bit of a homer sometimes.. but believe me when I say, Charles Johnson's backup Frank Alexander is a monster of a DE. He gets very limited reps and still manages to impress. He has stated over and over he wants just one game to prove himself to the NFL, so I'd look for him to have a huge game.
Well we'll see how the back-up performs. But every team is the same. Put the best players out on the field and hope they are better than the other team's players. Like I said, you haven't experienced the loss of a pass rusher the way we have. We have other pass rushers too - including interior pass rushers. You don't have to look far to find out the effectiveness of our pass rush. Having said this, the loss of Wake had a seismic impact on all players. Now we will find out how Johnson impacted your other players.
We've been w/o unicorn Patterson most of the year, and losing Pouncey is not as big a deal as one may assume, Pouncey is a mobile, finesse type of player Reality is, we run the ball better with hat on hat blocking, not the scheme we had been using, if anything it forces the offense to be more realistic as to what we run now.
kinda excited to see these guys upfront, who looked good against the chargers to get another game together
This is why we should forget about everything in the past for one Sunday afternoon, if we lose we can continue to discuss the offseason of changes, if we win, 6 and 5 and in the lead for a playoff spot would be reason to forget the past.
Amen. You know people's attitudes are bad if the thought of them changing brings me and padre together....we don't agree on any damn thing.
Kumbaya...kumbaya.... Reality is, Ireland is soo disliked, even that won't grant him a reprieve among those who are resolutely against his continued tenure
How has Short been playing I saw him have that big strip sack against New England but that has been the only Panthers game I've watched this year
Yes, I agree 100% with what you have to say. I'm just saying, we are so stacked at DE whenever Hardy or Johnson is taking a breather I really never see a difference in how effective our pass rush is. But, considering Johnson is taking more than just a *breather* I could be wrong.
Short is playing incredible and by incredible I mean incredible for a rookie. I don't know how we got so lucking picking up two amazing DT's in the draft.
Well it will be interesting. We just speak of this as the loss of Wake was probably more impactful than anyone suspected. As for the game itself, I have the Panthers winning but not covering. In fact, you will probably find much of this board quietly thinking the Panthers will win. I hope I'm wrong but I'm not too confident. One thing about Fin fans and this goes back over a decade, is that we operate in a homer free zone. There's a near consensus that the owner and GM have to go. It's about 50/50 that the coach needs to go and then various opinions from tweaking to all out gutting the roster. Oh and nobody goes to the games. Easily the most jaded fanbase in the league.
Eh, for us, b/c our OL has changed so much, we've went away from "let's out smart them" to a "let's hit them in the face" approach, which our personnel is more suited to operate. Quality De's and Dt's mean it is more man on man blocking b/c the OL is to busy handling their guy over trying to help someone else out. Which is fine really, the outsmart them approach was getting us 2 yds per gm rushing. And BTW, Cameron Wake is the Kraken, not Greg Hardy
I kinda know what it's like. I've seen so many losing season and let downs I pretty much expect to lose every week. Even when we played the Bucs I had a bad feeling.
Mike Wallace had a limited practice today, heard a lot of people say he has been limping and not running at full speed in practices this week.
