May sound odd, we are 4-0 v the Panthers, we seem to have your number Texans own the Dolphins, we own the Panthers
Their secondary is their weak link... If we can stretch the field and play field position and force them to go 80 yards every time they get the ball we can keep it a close game.. Cam is going to make some plays with his feet, we have to limit the plays he makes with his arm.. They use a lot of quick passes like ins and outs, with our aggressive corners I think we can possibly score on defense.. They have to anticipate the quick passing game.. Cam has a tendency to be off target, it's the deep balls over the middle of the field that he is better at.. I think man defense is the way to go.. Zone will get ate up by the underneath stuff..keep them in 3rd and long forcing them to pass.. Keep a man on cam to limit his yards once he takes off.. Press their wr's, smitty is a beast at the line but lafell can be pushed around and shad a safety on ginns side.. Olsen runs wide routs, he isn't fooling anyone but the run threat keeps lbs honest that's how he gets open... If we can frustrate cam early and often he unravels....
The same could be said about the Dolphin's fans except the reverse I took a look over here when you beat the Falcons to see there moaning... it was great, 3-0 to 5-5 in your last 8 games your 3-5 we are 7-1.... I have a hard time taking your bravado seriously your team has given up the most sacks in the NFL your ranked 30th in Offense and 24th in defense.... and you lost to the win less buccaneers in which you rushed for an amazing 2 yards.
Considering we play once every four years that is irrelevant last time we played we had freaking Jake Dellhome at QB.
Racist redneck that can't stop using the N-word? Well obviously you have no idea what you're talking about... but I don't blame you, you've been spoon-fed by the media. And no, you don't need a racist redneck on your team because your own fans already play that part for you.
Classy, gotta stay classy. I'm just going to say this to everyone.. I give the Dolphins a 25% chance of winning, 50+ of we turn the ball over twice or more. Make of it what you will
Same personnel as 2012, we finished top 7 in run D, only difference this year is to they've been trying to get after the passer more often to create turnovers. Lots of stunts and twists that took guys out of their running lanes, this game is not that sort of game, Newton WANTS to be pressured and face a broken field. This gm I expect y'all to mix in blitzes and 8 man coverage schemes to try and take away THill's bread and butter short and mid range passing. DC will bet his 3 or 4 guys can beat a bad offensive line and have enough guys in coverage to create turnovers.
A few things to consider...our losing streak seemed to coincide with Wake's MCL sprain. He was such a difference maker early in the season as well as our last two wins. Now you'll find out how important your top pass rusher is as Johnson has the same injury. Our run defence has taken a noticeable dip and seems to have coincided with Misi going out or being limited. We'll soon know his status for the game. As for our line, last week was probably their best week and I think this had to do with using players that actually fit the coaches scheme. If we play hat on hat, I don't think the line will be a major issue. This upcoming game is a classic trap game but I don't Carolina is good enough to look past opponents. You guys are essentially one massively blown call away from being one win better than the Fins. We'll see on Sunday.
It goes back to last year with Rivera. Everyone wanted him gone. None of your stats are going to matter come Sunday.
Newton seems to be playing very efficiently. I think where he messes up is solely in his passing mechanics; they are just not consistent. Even last night, I counted about half of his 1st half passes that were sailing on him. Of course, this is nothing new for him. INTs because of this can be had. I think where Miami potentially loses is when he decides to run. Poor tackling and bad angles have hampered this D all year. This LB corps is just not that good. D-line, on the other hand, is arguably up there. Containing Newton is key, but I have a difficult time believing they can do it an entire game. Forcing Newton to pass (instead of running on broken/extended plays) can be the shining star. Although, the Panther O is conservative and tries to minimize his mistakes, he is prone to off throws. Do not get me wrong, he has one hell of an arm. He has just not become pure in his passing. I think he can over time, but last night showed me that his mechanics are not quite there yet to consistently make accurate, "window" type throws. He has had this issue since coming into the league. The receiving corps helps him out on some of those. Their D (unfortunately) is fantastic. LBs are fast. Hell, it seems as though everyone is fast on that D! Physical D. I do think they can be had outside, but that would entail sustaining a good pocket. Magic 8 Ball says, "Probably Not". If Miami can get up early like they have on other very good teams, forcing the Panther O to lose their conservative ways might prove in Miami's favor. Newton is not the best passer in the league, and I have the feeling that his confidence might just override his lack of experience, which can lead to mistakes on his part. I, for one, think if Miami gets up early, it could bode well. If this is a slugfest, Carolina beats Miami to the punch.....
It wasn't a matter of if but when, would Rivera make it to the end of the season and then be fired or would he be fired in the middle of the season? With the week four bye some fans were even wondering if that would be the time for a change. I don't fault them too much, every fanbase does silly stuff. When we were 4-5, 75% of us here voted we had no chance at the playoffs. Not that we wouldn't make it but that we had no chance. That's as silly as the Panther fans I know who gave up on the season and started rooting for a Draft pick.
It's really hard to say the #5 ranked secondary that currently has the #2 most picks in the nfl is bad.
The Bengals have more sacks than the Panthers and Miami only gave up 3 sacks to them. The Bills have the most sacks in the league and Miami only gave up 2. They were an awful 2 sacks but still only 2. This game is going to come down to turnovers. The Panthers are +10 so Miami will need to play safe, especially in the red zone. Miami also has to get off the field on 3rd down. The Panthers are #1 at converting them. A lot of those are 3rd and short though. Tolbert and Cam are almost impossible to stop there.
Its spelled "defense" That is a lot of ifs.... And unlike Miami we have more than one premiere pass rusher... Greg Hardy says hello... Carolina isn't overlooking anyone... I just think a team that lost to the winless buccaneers and has the worst ofensive line in the nfl shouldn't be so cocky going against the NFLS #1 scoring defense... Oh and by the way they made the right call the league backed it 100%.
The Bengals have 3 more sacks.... Check out some advanced statistics sometime we have a much higher pressure rating that they do... Sacks are a small part of the equation.
Any given Sunday, but the Panthers are strong where we are weak.Strong front 7 vs. Our weak offensive line, their rushing attack including Cam Newton against our linebackers.. yeesh.Sherman is going to have to call his most creative game yet. If I were Kevin Coyle, I sell out to stop the run and run a lot of man on man instead of zone. Make Newton beat you with his arm, which he can still do, but is seemingly more plausible than letting them run all game.
Defense in your Country but it's defence in mine...who cares. Oh and it's offensive not ofensive. As for sacks, you guys are at 31 and we're at 30. And of course that was with our top rusher either out or limited for a month. Pretty much a wash. We can play this our team beat this team that you lost to all day long. We can just as easily say we beat Indy on the road who beat Seattle who beat you guys. It doesn't matter. It only matters who shows up on Sunday. Really? Your position is that the league made the right call? This when (a) the rule book and (b) every person with a set of eyes says differently. I'm no Patriots fan but your namesake tackled Gronk in the endzone when the ball was at the 10 yard line. Whatever buddy. See you Sunday.
lol, man how could I forget about Ted Ginn. We made that dude a rich man. Wouldn't be surprised if he burns us for a big chunk this week.
The Panthers defense is real good, to say they aren't is ignorant. But our pass rush isn't chopped liver, either. We can get after the QB. The key for us in this game is to stop their run game, something we've struggled with at times this year. Cam is a playmaker but he is also prone to mistakes as well. If he beats us with his arm, then good for him. But we need to make sure that's the only way they beat us when they have the ball. On offense, we need to see more of what we did against SD. Their secondary isn't as strong as their front 7. Spread them out and hit them with quick passes. Eventually one of our guys could pull a Charles Clay and turn a 5 yard catch into a 40 yard score. Don't abandon the run either. Be balanced. Should be a good game.
That Clay TD was meant to move the sticks. Stand him up and go sit in a hole. He played power football after the catch. He has good instincts.
I picked the Dolphins to win in my pick em pool. I think you guys will really win this game. Carolina coming off a huge win over a great team then playing on the road against a team they think might be an easy win. No disrespect to you guys at all though, you are a decent team. You are a lot better then my packers.
The most ridiculous was when people were saying Cam Newton should be benched. I think quite a few people on this board fell into that trap as well.
90% of the NBA speak this way, and about 99% of the stars in the NBA. I get the feeling you're still just kind of holding a candle, waiting for him to be a bust. Or at least to stop winning consecutive games.
Don't know what your trying to prove...but you just pointed out that of our 6 remaining games...Carolina is the least damaging team to lose to. Every other team counts as 1st or at least 2nd in tie breakers first. Carolina doesn't factor until the 3rd.
Greg Hardy has 6 sacks this season. Olivier Vernon, our other DE, has 5.5. Does that mean we can start calling Vernon a premiere pass rusher? Heh, you seem really upset that miami fans think our team stands a chance in this game. nice.
I guess I am the only one that wasn't all that impressed with the Panthers Monday night. Other than a couple big runs by Newton they struggled running the ball against a Patriots' run defense that was ranked 30th in the league. Take away Cam's runs and the Panthers running attack wasn't impressive. Newton beat the Patriots mainly by making some nice plays with his arm. Also the Patriots did a good job moving the ball against that Panthers defense. The Patriots would have most likely put up at least 27 points if Ridley didn't fumble inside the Panthers' 10. Brady was pressured at times, but not as often as I would have expected. The Patriots also had some decent success running on that defense. The Panthers defense is good but they are not as great as some are making them out to be. I believe this game will be similar to the Seahawks game last year. It will be like most of the Dolphins games have been this year, a low scoring close game. That's just the way I am seeing it.
