My sources tell me that the players in fact tied up Philbin in a storage closet after practice while these interviews occurred. Sources also tell me that 'Mando's sources are out-sourcing their work to my sources, and this should bring into question the source of 'Mando's sources.
Ah my bad I didn't mean to compare CK to OK. I hadn't realized the two of you were so close. I get the Ireland angle the rub is that old joke is worn out, non creative and childish. Nice try though.
So there's documentation that Martin had mental issues before the draft or you're saying Ireland isn't a good enough psychologist to diagnose Martin from a few meetings? Why stop there? Ireland should of known if we signed Keller he'd get his knee taken out on a dirty hit. You guys are hilarious, man. We get it, you don't like Ireland and anything that happens will be his fault one way or another.
That's the entire motivating factor at this point. Shameful.... completely shameful but it's a huge percentage of our broken legal system at this point. Opportunistic lawsuits.
Hell yes i was contemplating this on the way to work this morning.. "No one thinks you know how to run a locker room!!" .... "no one thinks you can replace 2 starting lineman!!" .... "Everyone thinks there are no strong leaders on this team!!" "SHOW EM!!"
Think about this for a minute. A corporate lawyer working for Toyota needs to shake down an NFL team? Really?
I know full well what I'm talking about. Let's set aside universal hate of lawyers for a moment. Let's set aside the "this is happening to the team I am a fan of, therefore it is BS" phenomenon that's permeating this forum right now. Why does Martin's mother need to shake down the Dolphins? What is she gaining from that which she doesn't already have? She's ending her son's career in a field very, very few can enter, for less money than he would make over that career if he was even just average at it. Maybe it actually is happening. But a corporate lawyer for Toyota isn't in the business of shakedowns, especially not without any sort of foreplanning. Not even Jesse Jackson does that.
100% agreed. People on this site watch too many movies and believe in too many conspiracy theories. If Jonathan Martin wanted to quit football he could do so. there is no reason to turn it into a money grab because he does not need the money. He is an academic all American Stanford graduate whose parents could open up virtually any door in any field that he wanted. I have no doubt that Martin could go to law school right now (which his parents would pay for, no loans like me) and walk right into a job paying $400K per year miniumum. He will not be hurting for money. This stuff is affecting the Dolphins and makes the Dolphins look really bad so I understand the defensive posture, but the notion that this was some long con perpertrated on an unsuspecting sap like Incognito is silly
I dont know why she is doing it. Maybe its personal for her. Maybe she detests the football locker room mentality, and has chosen to do this. I dont know. But it doesnt change the fact that , this is whats happening.
Nobody is saying this is some long con perpetuated on the Dolphins. Im really not sure where you are getting that. What Im saying is...he never told anyone. And now some opportunistic individuals are trying to cash in on it. And...no, just because you go to law school would you come right out making $400,000 a year, and dude....$400,000 is pocket money, compared to what he could make with a career at Left tackle in the NFL. The avg yearly salary for a staring left tackle is over 4 mil a year. Plus incentives...bonuses...endorsements. Are you kidding? Your comparing $400,000 a year to what he could make in the NFL?
Fairly simple really, Martin is owed what 2 million dollars for the rest of his contract, how many times in life will he ever have potential access to that much money. I see it simply as a parent looking out for their son, whether he particularly wants this done or not is another story.
Well... Lets say...theres a strong feeling among those who are closer to the situation then we are, that it is happening. So...for arguments sake...what if it is? You seem to state that its a fact that it isnt.
Or maybe Martin has a breakdown and tells his mother he just can't handle the atmosphere in the locker room. He tells her what its like and her first reaction is that if that happen in one of our assemble plants we'd be facing a multi-million dollar lawsuit and then the lawyer in her takes over. I have no doubt that Martin was teased. I think most of the coaches and players were imune to it because it was no different than others were getting and what they've seen throughout their college and pro careers. But in the "real world" this behavior would be considered a "hostile work enviroment". So I think the real question will ultimately be whether a NFL locker room can be held to the same standards as other workplaces.
Rebellion or not...the Martin team is attacking the Miami Dolphins. The players pre-maturely made the right move Wednesday. It is us vs. them now.
I expressed skepticism at Boik's logical contradiction. I did not state a fact. You expressly stated an opinion as a fact. Or maybe a corporate lawyer doesn't leap to conclusions like that, because experience and training tells her millions of dollars rest on that logical leap.
Those are some dumb *** smart parents. For the rest of his life, unless he becomes president or a terrorist, Jon Martin will be best known as the bullying-victim-whose-teammates-hated-him-and-maybe-lied-and threw-his-friend-under-the-bus.
Does this all mean we'll get less nationally televised games next year? Will we not get another field trip to London? Are we now the red haired stepchild, kept out of sight? Stay tuned!
Just because she is a corporate attorney, it doesn't mean she acts rationally when it comes to her son.
Uh, no. http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/marines/a/marinehazing.htm If the MArines can get by without it, so can the Miami Dolphins.
The thing is, for the people that will actually MATTER in his life, the above statement won't matter. unless he wants to play football or run for public office, he's good. Academia would surely embrace him.
It'll still affect him for life. And for a guy who could go earn $2m in a few years with that Stanford education, that seems like an emotionally dumb tradeoff. So... probably about right for the Martin clan, I'm beginning to suspect. Headsmart. Socially and emotionally clueless.
Sorry, doesn't fly with me. Doing what this board alleges Martin and his parents are doing requires long-term planning and clear rationalization. The real issue here is the attitude that "this cluster-f is happening to the team I am a fan of, therefore it is automatically incorrect and BS." Sorry, but something is going on here, and it's not all or even mostly manipulation by someone who works for the world's most hated profession.
And thats just total bunk on your part. But..I digress..your the only ojective sane voice in the crowd. We feel its incorrect, because well, where is the evidence to state otherwise? Oh thats...right. There isnt any.
