“Richie is honarary,” one player who left the Dolphins this offseason told me today. “I don’t expect you to understand because you’re not black. But being a black guy, being a brother is more than just about skin color. It’s about how you carry yourself. How you play. Where you come from. What you’ve experienced. A lot of things.” http://nfl.si.com/2013/11/06/richie...miami-dolphins-jonathan-martin/?sct=obnetwork It seems pretty obvious, and not contrived, that the Dolphins players (and this former teammate) have Richie's back- and in turn he had theirs. The language Richie used is sure going to be a problem, but I wonder what NFL team doesn't have players using foul language in and out of the locker room. You can say things among the guys that you wouldn't say at church, Grandma's house, whatever. As bad as some of the stuff sounds- the n-word, the vulgar comments about running a train on Martin's sister, all of that, sure sounds bad at first glance- these are football players being rowdy in and out of the locker room. I wonder who, at the end of the day, really crossed the line- Incognito with his language or Martin ratting out his teammates and his football culture. Now that the cat's out of the bag in this politically correct world that we live in, I wonder how much the league office will be forced to clamp down and change the culture of football. I liked the Lydon Murtha piece but I loved the Ricky Williams piece- if Ricky is more on Incognito's side than Martin's that speaks volumes to me. Richie might have crossed the line, but Martin might have purposefully sunk the ship when it comes to NFL players' private culture. I'm thinking that Incognito might play again for the Dolphins before Martin ever does- Richie might get a big fine, but it looks like the Dolphins players have disowned Martin.
I get the sentiment expressed & it is good to receive that kind of honesty & support from teammates, but I wish we could be left to our family of aqua & orange to continue without further harassment predicated by the media & those that wish us no good, in our pursuit of excellence. I lived in Brazil, a racially & culturally blended country for over a decade & look forward to the day when (like Brazil) we no longer see black & white... I believe the day is very near. I don't like this instigated & premeditated ugliness. the team is only half-way through the season & much is to be done. we don't need to lose a pro-bowl guard & team leader over alleged racism that does not exist, this country is better than that...
the more you stir **** the more it stinks & some will create the **** just to have something to stir, even amongst our ranks. why the inflammatory rederick? why the race card? you know the guy is not a racist & football is not a ballet. I don't like this instigated & premeditated ugliness... most unbecoming. YOU "be real."
The World Cup is there next summer and I am considering going however I don't think I would step foot in that country without an assault rifle on me.
Having flashbacks to Chappelle's "racial draft" when Tiger Woods loses his sponsorships and the whole bit...
SI: Richie Incognito considered ‘an honorary black man’ by Dolphins teammates Honestly, the way Richie apparently treated a volunteer at the golf course sickened me even more than this Martin stuff. I am sick of Martin, Incognito and Ireland for enough reasons that I'd be thrilled if none ever walked into the Dolphins facility again. Add Coach Turner to that heap if he played the part I suspect he has in all this. But now other players in addition to Richie are being accused of wrongdoing. Great. Perhaps we lose the entire O line. This franchise is a ****ing embarassment. Please trade Wake to an NFC team I can root for. Thx.
lol. The thing is... I watched through 1-15 without question. But I have beliefs, and won't root for a team whose VALUES I do not believe in. Won't do it. So... let's hope this lands the right way or I've wasted 40,000+ posts for nothing. (Well, I HAVE gotten to enjoy all of y'all's fine company)
I would root for the Dolphins if they were exposed as an al qaeda terror cell. In fact, that story is probably coming out next. My angus is peppered.
Either they got the source from this joke article or this is a parody from the story http://www.sportspickle.com/2013/11/ryan-tannehill-awarded-honorary-black-guy-dolphins
BTW the article is titled :"Ryan Tannehill Awarded “Honorary Black Guy” Title in Special Dolphins Ceremony"
I get that you're a fan, as am I. I've been a fan since 1978. I want them to be a good team just as much as you or any fan but what I don't get, and I'm not bashing you here, is why you and other fans like you, care whether the players on the team have good values or are nice guys. It wouldn't bother me if they were meth addict sheep rapers. I just wanna see them win a super bowl. Why do you take what some players do so personal? I remember when Ricky Williams was gonna come back and a lot of guys on here didn't want him back cause he quit on the team before. They took it so personal. I just knew that he was the best player on offense and made us better and I wanted him back. I couldn't have cared less what he did in the past. I hope they bring Ritchie back. I hope he plays Monday night. Its just a form of entertainment guys. Dont take it so personal. I do hope Ireland gets canned though
maybe because of misguided self-righteousness, a sense of moral superiority which is as pretentious as it is ridiculous & misplaced. everyone knows that we are not a ballet company & Incognito is not a racist or they refuse to see the obvious simple truth. bad enough our detractors & the media are purposely creating a monstrosity that could not only ruin the team but conceivably cause Ross to sell out & move on... hypocrisy ! ladies man up. put an end to this inane & mischievous gossip.
