Yeah... with all due respect to CK.... that was PF1968s way of saying IGNIT, not really an ironic typo.
Omar Kelly has been flip flopping like his *** is on fire. Now today he goes on WQAM and says he can envision a scenario in which Philbin and Ireland don't lose their jobs and Incognito returns to the team. He said the complete opposite yesterday.
You can say what you want but the truth is that their comments have made a big difference, listening to Mike & Mike show Mortensen as a guest, he says he is having a hard time adjusting to report now vs old school research and tell the story in a month when you get all the facts. Why is he saying this, because of the players comments turning this story in a different direction. Cover your *** strategy. No doubt the players got the go ahead, they all backed their coach, so you have a mutiny to say the guy in charge is great, please
Well, if there was a mutiny (which in my opinion, was not, although I could be wrong), didn't the Ravens have a similar breaking point last year? We all know how that turned out.
I heard Omar wrote an article today and basically just quoted song lyrics for half the article. Gotta know better than that. That's like Spinal Tap going on stage at a festival and hitting the audience with a free-form jazz exploration.
Good for the players. If Philbin is any kind of leader, he'll see the bigger picture and realize this can be a good thing. If he's a bad leader, he'll take negative actions vs the players. We'll see.
IF it is true, and Armando's source seems to think it is, then I'm a little worried about what the decision reflects in terms of what they think of Philbin. Remember, even before all this, the local guys were saying (based on what players were telling them) that the players kind of had an "eh, whatever" attitude about Joe Philbin as a coach. This was as opposed to Sparano, who inspired love or hate. IF this was as much of a breach as Armando's source seems to believe, it could be a sign that the players aren't really going to tolerate Philbin's rules if they don't make sense to the players. I think it's kind of a slippery slope from there. Nothing is "lost" certainly, just saying that it could be tricky how you handle this from here.
OR, they did go against Philbin, because they were so damn mad at the media. It doesn't mean that they don't respect Philbin. It doesn't mean they are "meh" about him. It means this issue, for them, was bigger than anything else and needed to be addressed. If that is the case, it is clearly ok now since they were told they couldn't talk about it again and they haven't.
Jesse Agler said on the Phinsiders that he's heard these reports and that it was allowed. I think that ends it.
Or they made a deal with Philbin, that they are going to speak their minds about it one day but the narrative from the team is still shut your mouths about it.
Interesting. The player's comments yesterday were in the best interest of the team, IMO. If our brass doesn't realize that, then we definitely have problems. Problems don't go away if you choose to ignore them, which I think is a point of contention with Joe Philbin at times.
I talked not text a friend or family member who is very popular on the D for around 10 minutes today and I can say the guys like and support Philbin this theory is untrue. Just sayin.
It makes me wonder what's going on behind the scenes. I've had the impression for a while that Armando might be a little more connected with Ireland than with Philbin. In fact I know from my friendship with Volin that Armando texts Ireland constantly. That dynamic may have something to do with Armando recently flipping into full-on attack Joe Philbin mode a few weeks ago (the whole Dawn Aponte thing, etc.). I wonder if it's sources connected with Jeff Ireland trying to give Armando the impression that what happened was a mutiny against Joe Philbin. It could be on purpose, or it could be just a sign that there's like zero communication anymore.
So this was at Philbin's behest to stick up for themselves. Ouch baby...ouch...that is going to leave a mark.
That wouldn't surprise me, because I happen to think that Philbin and Aponte are trying to use this against Ireland. I was thinking of what you said before I even read it...that Armando seems to get a lot of info from Ireland, and it is in Ireland's best interest to pain Philbin in a bad light. Now that makes me wonder about my source and whether what I heard came from Ireland's side of the coin. I wonder just how much of a point of contention that Mike Wallace is between Joe and Jeff right now, because I'm sure Jeff wants Joe to force feed him the ball to justify his contract, but that's not Joe's style of offense.
I'm beginning to think this will be a rallying point for the team. All this speculation and conjecture from everyone is frigging hysterical. To me, it's coming across simple. Jonathan Martin has some issues. They boiled over something that was light and happens all the time. Dolphins place him on IR, he wants to be paid. He comes out with all this mess. Miami sticks together. Incognito being suspended is Miami trying to protect itself. I don't see it being much more than that. It just so happens that the player involved is a guy with a horrible wrap, a GM with a horrible wrap, a franchise that has been in distress for years, and a new coach with no prior history of success as a head coach. It's easy pickings. I think there is some validity that Jeff Ireland is being weeded out by Philbin and Aponte. I think where there's smoke there...well you know the rest.
I thought the most telling interview yesterday was Hartlines. Did you see the look on his face after he stated "The TRUTH is eventually going to come out in all of this" I think a lot of people in that lockeroom went out of their way to be tolerant and patient with Martin. Kept the in house stuff between themselves. They feel betrayed by Martin and I think the gloves will come off and Martin will not be very happy aboutbwhat does come out

If Philbin's smart he'll try to find a way to harness this and use it to the team's advantage. You would think they're going to come out pretty pissed on Monday night and kill Tampa. Coaches and leaders in sports often try to manufacture an 'us against the world' mentality. This is a rare situation where they have legitimate reason to have those feelings. Hopefully they can feed off of it and rally around each other.
No, No, No. Armando had a source. Dammit, he has a SOURCE. His source is right. No questions asked. Do you think the people that were supporting this will admit that they are wrong with the same passion?
Hmh..was just gonna say I listened to tuthe Phinsiders and they said Philbin told them to go ahead and talk..he even said he wasn't gonna comment on what they said..was gonna let the players words speak for them selves. Lol in all this once again..its the media who is gonna end up looking like idiots. They are in such a rush to say something..they just report it..believing all they have to do is issue an update..if what they say is false
Mike Florio comments this morning. Seems like the OP and Florio share the same sentiment on this situation? Link: HERE
Florio is just going to append his previous article, knowing full well that people do not go back and read his old articles.
Armando just updated and reversed course. How is this journalistic integrity. Write something..believing eh..if I'm wrong I'll just update it. I think we have all learned when it comes to these tools..Florio..Salguero..Kelly..chances are they are FOS. Now Hyde..and some others I will pay attention to
Its in the evaluations they do on players when they meet with them pre draft? Its certainly documented when Martin has a leave of absence on April 28th. You dont have to buy the source talk. So youre just going to give him a pass for draft an entire draft full of injured players? Let me ask you, would we have lost some of those games if we had 2 healthy cbs in the form of Jamar Taylor and Will Davis? We'd probably have at least 1 more win, maybe 2. One I know is, the other Im not so sure. The third one, no one I know has caught wind of at all. Im still not sure it was a 100% true but if it was....yeah, you aint seen nothing. Even if 1 and 2 come out, 3 is pretty damning. No idea. Not soon enough since Id like for this to be over.
I don't think its any secret why Armando and Florio are so close....they both come from the "joke" portion of journalism.
I'm not buying that the players went against Philbins will..that's not what it looked like to me yesterday..
I'm not sure how far I can go in saying it's his job to be able to detect the intangible part of the player predraft, but lets say he did, and said to himself, well the kid might be a bit soft emotionally, but I like his game on the field so much we'll mold him into something.. That's a fail on both levels of the evaluation..
