Source: Ireland told Martin's agent that Martin should punch Incognito

It's just simple logic. If 2 people have a conversation, then they are the only ones who can confirm what was said. So who are Florio's multiple sources? Did Ireland say it, who knows but Florio does have a reputation for report rumors.

 

I challenge anyone to find a true scoop that Florio found first. You'd probably have to go back to at least 5-6 years ago.

 

There's going to be such a collective fapgasm when Ireland does get fired.

 

I'm not sure how everyone thinks everyone will be fired over this? Maybe you guys still know more than what is being reported but if Sean Payton kept his job how would Philbin and Ireland be fired? The HC covering up trying to have multiple players physically injured is a 1 year suspension but Philbin covering up (if he is proven to have known) one guys getting his feelings hurt is a firing offence?

 

Sean Payton is actually great at his job.

Amazing how we are talking about people's careers, lives, etc. and the media is so negligent in their reporting. First the voicemail out of context now pretty much an erroneous report about Ireland telling Martin to punch Incognito.

Not if he said it after Martin had already left. At that point, he's pretty much just expressing shock as to why someone would leave the team all together. When the accusations of Martin being bullied were initially levied, there was quite a contingent here that said Martin shouldn't have left - he should have just stood up for himself. Those are pretty much along the lines of what Ireland (purportedly) said.

Ireland will have to be fired fairly soon because they'll want to bring in someone that can work on this year's college and free agency crop. So I would guess prior to the season's end.

Joe Philbin's chances of being retained are sinking because he's losing the locker room. That doesn't mean they'll lose. What it means is the players are doing things for each other and basically ignoring his orders. That media blitzkrieg they ran last night where they all took a hard run at Jonathan Martin, Philbin had nothing to do with that and had in fact told them to defer questions to him. The Miami Dolphins management hate Richie Incognito for getting them into this, almost as much as they hate Jonathan Martin. They suspended Incognito. That's not jiving with the players. They're now in the mindset that they're willing to test Philbin's authority, and he may feel so handcuffed by the situation that he doesn't enforce his authority. Once that happens, he's lost them, IMO.

It's going to be hard to re-connect the players to the coaching staff. Not impossible. Just hard.

 

This has all come so fast & furious from both the media and Dolphins, I have to admit I have jumped to several conclusions that may well be in error and unfair to:
1. Cogs
2. Philbin & staff
3. Posters here who made certain radical statements.

To anyone I have offended, I sincerely apologize. I owe a particular poster a private message apology for my rant about his attempt at comedic labeling of JMartin as gay. I am not gay but have a LOT of gay friends from doing theatre for over 45 years, and there are some men on this site whom I am friends with who I know to be gay. I was incensed and let my emotions overrule reason when ranting against this poster/post and am now going to send him a pm of apology. If JMart turns out to actually be gay, so be it, but his quitting on the team isn't warranted by that fact. Just man up and deal, that is what most of my gay friends would do.

In the best interest of this site I will make no further posts on this entire subject until ALL the facts are clear and certain.
