Made it a point many years ago to never feel sorry for any professional athlete, they make too much money to get my sympathy for things like this . In this case its the Dolphins FANS that I feel for.
I never understood how having money equates to not giving sympathy. I would rather be broke and happy than rich and miserable. Of course I would take rich and happy over both of them.
Let me clear this up a bit. If an athlete is being disrespected or treated badly then yes they got my sympathy. But, in a lot of other cases its hard for me to feel sorry for someone when they're sitting on an island sipping exotic drinks not caring how their respective teams season ended. I said it many times and I'm standing by it...fans suffer a lot more then a losing player does.
I agree. Not to mention- NFL players subject themselves to bodily harm and future health issues, and the rigors of their job and preparation for it are significantly greater than the common man could endure. They deserve every penny they get. Saying a wealthy person shouldn't deserve sympathy b/c he has money is pretty shallow and insensitive. It's not the monetary worth of the person that determines the sympathy level he deserves, it's the type of person he is. The ironic thing is these wealthy players probably sacrifice more time & money for their communities and contribute more to charities and benefits than the entire collective of fans combined. But nooo, a poor man who sits lazily on his *** with no goals or ambitions and hasn't given anything back to society deserves more sympathy than an NFL player just b/c his bank account is empty? GTHO here.
Yeah ok. Until you've donned the pads and walked through an NFL locker room you're not qualified to make that statement. As a fan, you have your ENTIRE life to hope for a Super Bowl. As a player, you might only have a COUPLE YEARS to win a ring and fulfill a childhood fantasy that the overwhelming majority of us could never sniff, and to exacerbate things- you know you'll never get sized up for a SB ring, however players realize the opportunity is right there within grasp, so I have no idea how you think fans suffer more by not obtaining a championship. Not to mention, how the heck do you actually think you as a fan have MORE invested in a season? That's asinine. The reward at the end of of a great season for the effort you as a fan put into getting there is a speck of dust compared to the players who work their asses off for it. Does Directv subject you to two-a-days in order to watch the games, or do you relax with a cold beer while the players are busy beating the sh-t out of eachother? Are sacks of potatoes heaved at you on game days so that your week is spent wrapped in ice and waiting for the bumps & bruises to subside? Do you spend each week heavily preparing to watch that week's game like the players do to play it? When Miami loses, does all your previous week's work go for nothing? When Miami performs poorly, do you worry about your boss demoting or firing you? If you suffer a dislocated shoulder or tear off the tip of your finger on the job would you pop it into place or tape it up and beg your boss to let you get back to work? You as a fan are emotionally vested; that's it, and then on Monday you return to your daily job. Time to rethink your stance on this.
Sure do. Hey I`m not knocking them for their lifestyle when their season ends. I just see no point in crying for them when they have the means to "get over it" a lot faster then the everyday fan does.
I`m not qualified to have my own opinion? Sorry to upset you but I already have a wife to tell me that. I need to rethink my stance to agree with your opinion.? You kill me , and for the life of me I cant understand why MY OPINION upsets you so much. We`ve been down this road before but this time I think I`ll take an alternate route. Have a great day !
