you're lashing out, but it's acceptable given the circumstances, I know as leader of the ISG this is a tough time for you, FinD and the rest of the group, what with the writing being on the wall that this will be the last year Ireland is making personnel decisions for this franchise. as silly as the idea of rewarding failure with an extension was, it's pretty meaningless now, kinda like the extension Ross gave Sparano. As clueless as our owner is, even he can't be ignorant enough to keep this clown now.

so cheer up dude, ole Jeffy's dismissal will be the best decision for the franchise long term.

Do you think we could we lose future draft picks like the Saints?

Yes. Doesn't matter though because 2nd rounders are cancer to us anyway.

Ireland is good for nothing, that is well established. But as it turned out, this owner is good for nothing too, as well as the coaches.
There has never been, top to bottom, worse collection of dimwits leading the Dolphins in the history of the franchise, and there never will be, 'cause it's impossible.

I second that, and also contend... When did we football fans become a big group of gossiping wenches???? I come on here to talk football, yet on this football forum, I can't find any football discussions.

Everyone uses any negative press for an excuse to get on their soap box! REDICULOUS!

Would anyone like to talk football???

UGH. I love ya Boik, but teasing us all with this is really cruel. I'd rather know nothing at all than be teased with these vague "the end is coming" posts.

I'm just speculating here: My guess is Ritchie's dad who is rumored to have been a member here informed the mods of some of the really juicy details on all this. Maybe not, just a guess.

Flying this banner sounds like a great idea! I can't imagine the excitement the next GM would have to be a part of this community and it's highly intelligent fan base.

As to whether or not flying a banner accomplishes anything -

I know it's debatable, and it's certainly been debated on this board and others for years now, but you can make a strong argument that Ireland really should have been fired with Sparano. The last remnant of a failed regime. He was not, and the mediocrity has continued. When guys like Ireland are retained past their due date, I don't believe it's that out of line for fans to make their voices heard in whatever manner they choose. And for those of you saying it has no bearing on anything, don't be so sure. Which Buffalo Bills coach was it that was fired a couple of days after a fan billboard went up in the city asking for his head? I'm sure that wasn't THE reason he was fired, but might it have helped tipped the scaled knowing fans are fed up enough to pay thousands for a billboard?

Fans are the lifeblood of the NFL. I'm sure Ross sees the empty seats just like all of us do. Losing hurts. Balance sheets and income statements in the red hurt even worse to (some) owners.

As to whether or not Ireland and his family deserve the criticism, he is the GM of a very public organization. He's not immune to criticism. By accepting the job he accepted the fact that his performance would be scrutinized by fans. Sure, I imagine it's hard on kids. I also imagine it's hard on Obama's children to hear their father compared to Adolf Hitler on a regular basis.

I think if you want to make an argument against flying a banner, one could certainly argue the timing. At 4-4 the team has a chance at playoffs. How big a chance, especially in light of the very vaguely hinted at impending doom in this thread, is up for debate, but cannot be ruled out. It probably makes much more sense when more information has come out and the team is mathematically eliminated from a winning or maybe even playoff season. I said before 9-7 maybe could or should save Ireland's job but depending on what you guys are "vagueposting" about here, maybe 9-7 shouldn't earn anyone anything.

It doesn't matter, his ACTIONS whether pure or not had real life consequences, and will possibly cost this franchise draft picks, fined money, and a coach or coaches their jobs, as well as possibly sinking this season, and because of his actions it might have hurt FUTURE seasons.

That doesn't just get a pass or a wrist slap, that SHOULD get you fired !

I am starting to feel that some of these people could be team "plants". Its entirely possible. Here to make sure the organization is supported even though the GM has hurt the franchise and set them back possibly more than one season(s) and the organization is the league laughingstock.

No one forces him to remain in a job that sometimes puts him in the spotlight. It's his choice and he then takes on those consequences when they happen. If his kids see that, then his ambition to be a GM in the NFL is what put him there.

That they haven't been buying tickets should have been a clue to Ross already that the fans were unhappy. Instead he had a GM in his ear telling him they aren't coming because of the heat, the stadium needs fixing etc, to take the heat off the real reason : the product on the field that the GM put in place STINKS.

Lets be real here, mathematical playoff contention, but unless the team runs the table we more than likely will be eliminated by week 13.

Talk about a condescending tone, yikes......

But it takes us back to who put this team together, and who has been the constant in this mix for the last 6 drafts and off-seasons ? One person and one person only.

Been saying this for at least 3 years.....finally some are realizing it wasn't tin foil hat business. The man is just plain HORRIBLE at his job. Ross can do better and he owes it to the loyal fans that have been through the ****ter with this team and paid their season tickets with hard earned money.

So you should ignore the 800 lb gorilla in the room ?

This season will be predicated on how this plays out. It's THE most relevant issue regarding the team right now. No one forced you to open this thread or post in it and if you want to chat about football issues, go right ahead and start a thread. But to come onto this thread and moan like a JM is ridiculous.

There is nothing wrong with wanting Ireland fired, lets just not do it this way..me not wanting it done has nothing to do with how I feel about the job he's done.

I agree, Ireland should have been gone when Sparano and the rest of the "Parcells Era" staff was let go. It was the obvious thing to do but instead this whole mess is probably going to spell the end for Ireland. I'm not for fan billboards and that kind of thing but its been pretty obvious that Ireland was mediocre at best and really should have been fired years ago. Not sure how this ends but I'd be pretty shocked if this front office and coaching staff isn't blown up. We have to make the playoffs for anyone to keep their jobs and if this Incognito situation keeps escalating we might see changes made in the next few weeks.

There's a lot of "Lighten up, Francis" to go around in this thread.

Personally I think the banner is funny. And probably appropriate, since Ireland is basically a dead man walking, or at least he shoudl be. It's not like Steven Ross makes himself available to hear what the fans are thinking. So they fly a banner in the sky. Big whoop.

The funniest part is how they raised the funds for it in less than an hour. They put the link up on twitter and the money flowed in.

I see a lot of (no offense) moral high-horse reactions in here. I'm pretty sure those that sponsored the banner and those that donated, their reaction would probably be:

So you don't fire him now , as I also have said would be my course of action , but you do or don't fire him at the end of the season , barring a playoff appearance and a playoff win?

No secret I would have fired him long ago , much like I would have fired the fist pumper well before he was , hence I coined the dead coach walking phrase. He isn't the answer , therefore imo he needs to be fired.
