Richie was also incredibly foolish to call out Schefter when he had to know that the voicemails were out there

Let's also ignore that he was on the last year of his deal, his apparent replacement had already been drafted (Dallas Thomas), and that he had already burned bridges with basically every team in the NFL.

I don't get the lamentations for Incognito. He was a dead career walking already, and one of the worst performers on the OL this year to boot.

I just don't see this as an "unfathomable new low". That was 2007.

None of these statements were made recently, they are all being unearthed strategically. He isn't speaking because he lives in a world of lawyers preaching to him to not say anything that will hurt his eventual case against the Dolphins and the NFL. I'm not arguing that Incognito isn't a meathead moron. I'm arguing that his quotes are being taken out of context.

Jonathan Martin can't cut it the NFL.
This we know. Otherwise he wouldn't be in LA. Away from his job and his team.

This PC **** in the US is a ****ing joke. It is killing society. Hell if I call someone a female I get chastised. If someone called me a cracker and they have, I just laugh and move on. I don't quit and go hide and whine and grab a lawyer. What a ****ing joke. These guys are adults. Get over it.

This has nothing to do with political correctness. Call up a black co-worker and read from Incognito's script, let us know how it goes.

I think you need to revisit the facts.

Martin did not approach Philbin about Incognito earlier in the year, it was about his general mental health. Martin also never made mention to Philbin anything about Incognito after he left the team when they spoke. Philbin had no inclination about there being any problem until Martins representatives contacted him. He filed a grievance for one reason......money.

Martin was not cut out for the NFL and obviously had questions about whether he wanted to play or not in the spring.

Actually I brought this up back in 1992 to my black roommate when I was in the Navy. I asked why he can call his friends the N word and its ok and when a person like me says it, its a big deal. All he said is that it "is different". Umm ok. I have Native American ancestry. Cherokee to be exact. Do I take offense to the Redskins...not a ****ing chance.

Individual embarrassments never last long. It doesn't look good now, but in this masculine sport, if Rex Ryan can be a cuckold, and let other men suck his wife's toes and god knows what else...this too shall definitely pass.

Team fouls...Spygate, Bountygate...thiose stick...and still, only so much.

Honestly, without these 2 lame-duck OLs, our line played better than it did all season. Of course Egnew is now our 2nd string LT tho.

Martin is just looking to get out of Football. Collect a paycheck....cry that he was bullied. What a ***** period. Cogs will go just because of what he said and the PC *******s that think they run this country. An idiot for doing exactly what these type of people look for. So your right they can both GTFO. Martins career is over and Cogs will get a job with another team....tomorrow.

The lamentations stem from the fact that Incognito un fairly will never live this down. Who cares how he has performed this year. He is being trashed relentlessly by people who have no idea what they are even talking about. He's being blasted everywhere on every station for an old voicemail that is taken way out of context. They even went as far to say he threatened one of Martins family members! Complete and utter BS.

Incognito is far from a Boy Scout. You err in assuming he's blameless in general. Just because Jeff Darlington writes a nice article about you does not mean you're an angel.

He would not have landed a job outside of Miami and his job on Miami was 8 games away from evaporating.

This is just hitting the fast forward button on the end of his career and hearing the tape screech.

I agree with this to an extent. It's embarrassing but **** happens all the time with teams that's embarrassing.

But right now, I'm really concerned about the stuff Dave Hyde is talking about that there is stuff that would dwarf this if it were leaked. Eventually the Incognitos are going to say something and it could be really ugly.

I don't know why people are defending Incognito for the simple fact that this is a team sport where you're supposed to be united to WIN. The O-Line was dreadful, Incognito gave up 5 sacks (right? not sure but I thought I read that) and he's supposed to be a leader, while acting like a 14-year-old who just got drunk for the first time. You suck and the team is mediocre.

Fix it instead of joking around like a moron to begin with. Win a damn playoff game instead of going 7-9/6-10 for life then you can joke around. Or maybe he just cared about making his $3.5 Million this season...which is about 2 million too much for someone playing as poorly as him. The only reason he made the joke of a pro bowl last season was because he was an alternate and a ton of other better players couldn't go.

And if the rest of the team is so concerned then they better start winning to prove they actually HAVE a united locker room, and people will forget. That goes for the coaching staff and GM to bring the best out of their players rather than the worst. This wouldn't have happened under Shula, Ditka or Cowher.

I mean based on the summation of his career to date, his awful leaguewide reputation, his performance in this contract year, and his distinction of being on the wrong side of 30 during the 2014 FA period. NFL teams do not buy guys like that.

But did he really? Or did other pressures get to him??

Assuming that Philbin is telling the truth, why did it take a week before misconduct was alleged? Why did it take the Fins releasing a statement that they had no reports of misconduct before a complaint was made and the voicemail leaked?

Who said he was a Boy Scout? Does he have a history of being a racist? A history of threatening violence towards others family members? A history of threatening to kill someone? A history of bullying any other teammates? Not that I've seen. That voicemail is being thrown out there with the wrong context and the media is misleading everyone that has no clue about the situation.

I don't care about his contract situation as it pertains to next year. This is bigger than that.

Having said all that....The voicemail is the only piece of "evidence" out there of bullying. If anything more substantial comes out then I reserve the right to pull a 180 on you. :P

The best case scenario for the Dolphins is that after the NFL concludes their investigation they find that this is an Incognito problem and not a team-wide problem. Then the Dolphins can cut his *** and move on from this.

Of course, then we're going to have to deal with Incognito's response, which could get ugly.

Honestly the best case scenario is Incognito is gone, Martin is gone, and we can re-build the entire offensive line sans Pouncey.

    Just IMO.

It's really just Pouncey that there should be any concern for. He's the one keeper and he's in a **** ton of trouble himself.

My thoughts on this whole thing:

there's three kinds of people: *****, *******, and *******s. ******* think everyone can get along, and ***** just want to **** all the time without thinking it through. But then you got your *******s, Chuck. And all the *******s want us to **** all over everything! So, ******* may get mad at ***** once in a while, because ******* get ****ed by *****. But ***** also **** *******s, Chuck. And if they didn't **** the *******s, you know what you'd get? You'd get your dick and your ***** all covered in ****!

you figure out who the dick, ***** and ******* are

I have a feeling that this will get a lot worse for Incognito. In a previous career I investigated claims for workplace harassment, and in 90%+ of them it was the complainant being prissy and feeling that they were owed far more than what they deserved. This to me looks more like the other smaller group where someone is harrassed to the point of snapping. My reasons:-
    1) The main perpetrator feels he is justified in his actions. (toughening him up/hazing)
    2) The justification of 'toughening up' isn't something that is Incognito's responsibility. If it needed to be done the man to do it is the OL coach. Now the OL coach may approach senior players to get their assistance but there is no way a coach is going to approve in any way the sort of voicemails and tweets that Incognito did. This moves it from legitimate workplace development and coaching into finding an excuse to harass someone you don't like.
    3) The main perpetrator shows no indication of remorse or insight that he has done something wrong, and feels that he has been badly done by.
    4) Ineffectual management response to the complaint. The OL Coach at least and probably a bunch of other offensive coached up to the OC must have been aware of the general vibe of what was going on, yet Martin felt the need to see 'The Boss' (CEO/GFC or in this case the HC), so the first line supervisors failed to pick up to and respond to the problem adequately. Secondly after the complaint to 'The Boss' the harassment continued, maybe not as openly as previously. It puts Martin in a situation where he feels that making further complaints will make him look like a whiner and will not result in effective action anyway. Ipso facto he has no faith in his line of command to resolve the situation.
    5) There is documented evidence of bad acts.

I know there's a lot more to come out, and I haven't made up my mind yet. What I am saying is that if I were a lawyer I would rather be working on Martin's case than for Incognito's case.

I find it very odd that you require a history of behavior, as if one instance is somehow passable. I also find it odd that you ignore Incognito's personal history entirely. He isn't Albert Haynesworth level, but the guy is not popular around the NFL for a reason.

Maybe this is one of the downsides to having a young team; lack of mature leaders.

Wake is the leader of the defense based on his onfield performance, but not sure how vocal or involved he is in the locker room. On offense? Don't know.

This is what I fear too. Normal stuff blown out of proportion. And someone made a good point about where would this all be today were 6-2? And if Martin were playing better would he have left the team?
