Whether a few of the players support him or not does not justify him sending messages to Martin that he would, "kill him" or calling him the "N" word.

I am sure that a percentage of his teammates support him, but that doesn't mean that there aren't many others in the locker room who have no use for Incognito and bringing him back would only create more problems with team unity.

I happen to also think that Martin shouldn't play for the Dolphins again for the same reason. I just think that it would be best for the team if both these players are allowed to go play somewhere else if another team is willing to sign them.

The reality is that Incognito hasn't played that well this season and he probably wasn't going to be resigned after this season anyway. So they might as well just let him go now after this situation and perhaps another team will give him another opportunity.

As for Martin, it is obvious that him returning would probably create a problem with those players who do support Incognito. I honestly would be surprised if Martin ever plays another NFL football game. I think he will probably just go to law school and begin his life after football, a lot sooner than was expected. Of course the Dolphins will be paying for his law school tuition, as well as providing him with a large lump sum settlement to just go away. Martin's parents, who are both lawyers will see to that.

He can't. Everyone would kill Philbin for supporting someone who said the N word.

One would hope that other members of the leadership council were not behaving in similar manner. Otherwise I agree with Ellerbe that Martin should have approached them as a group. But I can see that Richie's presence might have influenced his choice to do otherwise.

Besides player support is taken with a grain of salt. It just goes to show what kind of morons they are. Pouncey supporting Hernandez, players supported the hell out of Sparano. That right there tells me all I need to know about "players supporting Incognito".

The smart players like Tannehill and Wake, they're supporting the team's image, not a piece of trash like Incognito.

How in the world can Philbin come out in support of someone who sent the type of messages to a teammate that Icognito send to to Martin? What is he suppose to say," Incognito is a bigot, a racist, and irrational, but he is the best LG we have at the moment, so I give him my full support".

You take Incognitos quote way too literal. My white friends have said worse to our black friends. I don't talk like that but it's actually accepted and they trash talk right back. Guys are idiots when they are around each other.

It isn't me taking the quotes too literal, it is Martin who left the team because of the actions of Incognito. I agree that BS goes on all the time in NFL locker rooms, but obviously Martin didn't think this behavior he was receiving from Incognito was the normal BS that goes on all the time with NFL players. I'm not saying Incognito should never play football in the NFL again. I just don't think after this incident that he should remain a member of the Dolphins, nor should Martin. It's about the 51 other guys on the team and not just about these two individuals.

Whether that is accurate or not no coach or member of the team should endorse Cognito imo .

Well put, like I said i'm against a guy being a ******** bully but there is nothing worse than a little snitch tattle tail. Both should act like adults first and professionals second. This sucks man, Richie is one of my favorite players on this team.

Martin has more serious problems than Incognito. If that voicemail is the only evidence against Incognito being a bully or racist, then I hope he is not cut. I don't think people are taking that voicemail in the right context. Right or wrong, if you had friends that talked like that you would understand. It's foul, but not mean spirited.

I never said I was in favor of Martin, don't put intentions into my posts. I believe this kind of behavior is classless and inconsistent with building a team atmosphere that is IMO a requirement in particular on the OL. I understand and condone a certain level of rookie hazing, like carrying vets gear, singing their Alma mater song, the typical stuff, but from most accounts Incognito took this to a whole new level and may have cost us a possibly decent (potentially) left tackle. And if you think this kind of behavior is OK on both player's parts, I don't want to root for your team. If Incognito is so clear in this matter, why did the team suspend him? Why has he deleted numerous tweets? I'll let the NFLPA sort this out, but I don't see how any of this can be beneficial to an NFL team.

And frankly the play of our OL this season looks to me like this behavior has already proven my point.

Not trying to turn this into a race thread but I GUARANTEE they wouldn't be nearly as up

I agree Martin probably has some other serious problems and he probably isn't suited to play football in the NFL.

As far as what other things were said or done by Incognito, we really don't know at this time. We also don't know if Incognito was being mean spirited or just playing around and Martin took it in the wrong way. Reports are that Martin had complained to Philbin a few months ago about how he was being treated by Incognito and obviously Incognito didn't change his behavior toward Martin if Philbin talked to him about it.
If Incognito was made aware of a complaint by Martin and he still continued to act in this manner, he is totally at fault.

If Philbin was aware of the problem and he did nothing to try and resolve this issue, including speaking to Incognito, he is the person who should be fired. Right now I guess we have to see how the NFL investigation turns out. That doesn't change my view that neither Martin or Incognito are worth keeping on the team at this time and hopefully both of them can find success with another NFL team or in Martin's case, whatever job or career he decides to pursue outside the NFL.

Incognito and his old man were both pushing for the front office to pony up and resign Long and when that didn't happen, there wasn't much Martin was going to be able to do to win them over. As far as everyone throwing around the N word like its accepted, ask yourself this, regardless of race, if you went to work tomorrow and just threw it around once or twice, would you still be employed?

The more I see the Miami Dolphin players defending and standing side by side with Richie, the more I am ****ing pissed this man will probably not only lose his job, but will be black-listed from the NFL at the age of 30, and its all bull****.

You guys can't be serious. Richie is the hero to you all in this?

He has to go. Bottom line and end of story.

Not only is he harassing players and embarrassing this organization (which I didn't think was possible anymore, but I stand corrected), he sucks on top of that.

You can't be a ****ty person AND a ****ty football player. Quit being so selfish and simply choose one or the other, Richie.

The people defending Richie...I just don't know, man.

The Bleacher Report sends emails everyday with links to some of their articles. The headline today in just the email is indicative of what I dislike about TBR..
In the email, the sensationalist heading: Suspended Incognito Accused of Hate Crimes...
    BleacherReport.com
The actual article heading: Richie Incognito Suspended Indefinitely as NFL Investigates Jonathan Martin Case

Whatever Richie has done, I don't think he has been actually accused of committing hate crimes. It's just a way of getting more hits on their site. *** holes.

A lot of people seem to think that voicemail was left in the past couple days. It was from back in April. It was a joke from a guy who probably says that kind of thing to everyone around him. If martin was so upset why did he go to ride go karts with him a week later....then go to a Heat game with him...then hang out in New Orleans with him?

You don't know anything about the situation. He isn't a "hero", he is a victim of overly sensitive PR relations. I call my friends the "f word" in an affectionate manner. If you would take some of the voicemails or text messages I sent to my closest friends out of context I would look like a hate-mongering fool. This is just another "your fired, your fired, your fired" PR casualty.

This unfortunate situation has brought to light (and just not on this board) the state of race relations in the U.S.

Did Incognito take it too far? Did Martin take it a little too seriously?

Regardless the answer; the real question (and the argument stems from) is who is right?

It is good that these things are being dicussed, regardless of vehicle. We see where some stand with no real collateral damage.....

i guess his usual lines of every presser this season so far which always includes "he is a good football player", "there is no question about it"...won't cut it this time, i wish he would come clean and answer the questions for once so that we can move on

If I know nothing about the situation, then neither do you.

What I do know is that one player left the team, reportedly after being fed up being the butt of other team member's jokes. The main culprit appears to be Richie Incognito, who,a s we know now, has called Martin racial slurs, threatened him with bodily harm, along with his mother, taken Martin's money and has his dad running a round all over the internet accusing the abused of worse offenses.

On top of that, he sucks at his job...like a lot.

And this is just the stuff we have learned about SO FAR. Everyday seems to bring on more crap...that centers around Richie. Sorry if that makes you mad, but the guy is an ******* who won't play another down for this franchise, thankfully. He has turned this entire franchise upside down due to his actions, like it or not.

Yet some feel bad for him? It's a backwards, crazy world sometimes.

And what you and your friends call each other is fine. What I and my friends call each other, is fine. Clearly, Martin and Incognito are not friends. Fort those that want to point to times they hung out after these incidents, it is irrelevant. They are co-workers, sometimes you try to get on with people you work with just to keep the peace.

Given Richie's violent and angry history, and the fact that players around the league aren't surprised by these accusations' tells me a lot about who we are dealing with here. And it isn't someone we should want on out team.

And besides all of that...he sucks

Has Martin commented at all on this? He has two Harvard lawyer parents. I will believe that he is the battered wife when he makes a candid statement himself.

Actions speak louder than words. My opinion that walking out on your team after already expressing concerns to your coaches earlier in the year, and filing a grievance which, essentially ends any plans of him being a viable football player again, is a pretty loud statement by the guy, no?

And unlike Incognito, Martin is not stupid. He isn't going to speak unless he needs to. Richie Incognito, like most bullies, chose to attack someone he was probably threatened by and, like most bullies, is going to pay for it hard in the end.

And in doing so, he drags this franchise to an unfathomable new low.

But yes, let's feel bad that this brutish, angry, racist is going to be out of a job.
