They don't post anything positive. Positive doesn't sell. And look around the national scene, there's an awful lot of former ex-Miami local guys. Cole, Marvez, Darlington, etc.
That is what is sad about this. If one of the guys that is in the center of this ****ty mess (Martin) and Clabo were not starting we likely are 6-2.
The team is 4-4, barely off a 4 game losing skid and you've got one player getting subpoenaed and two more that are off the team for the moment. I'm not sure what you want them to write about that's positive. Statistically, the defense is worse than it was a year ago, the biggest acquisitions from the offseason have underachieved, the franchise QB is getting sacked at a historical rate, and there's a stadium issue lingering on top of everything else. Unfortunately, at this time, there isn't much of anything positive to report about.
Stopped bothering with them a year ago, liked Skinny Jeans but he went to NFLN. Could someone explain to me why replacing 2 guys on a bad offensive line is somehow a bad thing? Only downside to this that I see is now Clabo is cemented in at RT, otherwise from a football, not the hand wringing BSPN watching mouth breathers, pov, this is all good. At some point, they will realize "gosh, they are hyping this crap to drive ratings and ad $$" not "what is the best thing for the Miami Dolphins to win football games" pov is rather silly.
Probably, and they're going to have to deal with it. Philbin is already tight-lipped and now there's an investigation, he's not going to say anything and he shouldn't. This is gonna be Philbin tomorrow:
No, didn't you hear, he won't answer these questions because he's not a leader, HC material, has lost the locker room, is in over his head, Fire Ireland, because Turner sucks, he's devoid of personality, etc. Every other coach in the league would just give a simple 3 hour long detailed explanation of the all the events that took place and all the actions that they are going to take plus the Tampa gameplan, but not Philbin, cause.....Ross is a terrible owner.
Just beat arguably the hottest offense in the league. Walk off sack in ot. Very much in the playoff chase. Preferable schedule coming up. Lamar miller has his first 100 yd game. Wallace and tanny are clicking.
It's times like this that I wish these pressers weren't mandatory. If there were ever a time to go back to the Bill Parcells "bunker" approach, this, IMO, is it.
I didn't say I did want them to write anything positive. I'm simply telling you positive doesn't sell. They can write negative **** all day....as long as it is true. You perceive me getting like this when its negative, when in actuality I get like this when the stuff simply isn't true. The media generally doesn't fabricate positive stories.
Patterson is tied for the league lead in Int's Wake is back healthy and the OL is finally getting a makeover with plenty of time to prep the replacements for Tampa. Yep, dumpster fire, twitter said so.
http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/11/04/3729152/incognito-dolphins-push-back-against.html The latest twist: Young Dolphins players are under pressure to dig deep into their pockets to pay for veterans’ social outings, a practice that is straining their finances and locker room chemistry, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation. These allegations come on the heels of an ESPN report Sunday morning that Incognito pressured Martin into paying $15,000 for an unofficial team vacation to Las Vegas — a trip that Martin, an offensive tackle, didn’t even join. The Dolphins said Sunday night they suspended Incognito indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team.
Seriously. This is a ****ty situation for Martin but as far as we go, this isn't a big deal. Martin sucked. I would have liked for him to stay because I do think he could have improved but oh well. Clabo had a good game Thursday against a pretty good pass rusher in Dunlap. Incognito is out, so now we have to see what Garner can go against McCoy, who is really the only threat on that line. All we have to do is win. Nothing else matters. And we can win. This is a good team. Tannehill just has to take that next step. Nick Foles is out there throwing 7 touchdowns. Tannehill needs a game like that. Not 7 touchdowns exactly but we need to blow out the Buccaneers.
Some of those are stretching things quite a bit, IMO. I don't mean to direct this at you, but I think a media member can pretty easily poke holes in some of these. For example: 1) Beat the Bengals on a short week, at home, and they lost their best defensive player. 2) Cameron Wake is a beast, I'll give you that one. 3) Miami's currently the 8th seed with 3 AFC losses. 4) I'm not sure you can call any game on Miami's schedule preferable when they lost to Buffalo at home, off a bye, against their 3rd string QB. 5) 100 yard games are pretty common place, but I believe there was an article about Lamar.
Hello. Martin has lawyered up, and the word "race" is being used. Give you three guesses what's coming next, and two don't count.
Section also posted last week that the local media doesn't liek Philbin because he makes their jobs hard, and I trust his word. So there is probably an agenda there for sure. How much I'm not sure. I'm not saying all of it is made up stuff but I'd bet some of it is.
Wasn't saying you write an article disclaiming we are Super Bowl bound, just claiming there's some good stuff going on
Yep, I liked Martin's game, more than Clabo's, but losing him is not like Richmond Webb has went down, and LG was not exactly playing at a high level to begin with We don't need a blowout, we do need a win.
I said this last week, the 2007 Giants were a complete mess within the locker room, and that included players ripping Tom Coughlin. How did that work out? Look at the circus that was the Jets for an entire year and a half. Rex Ryan was ripped by EVERYONE and people said he lost the locker room and they became the laughingstock of the league. Now, he is a candidate for coach of the year and the Jets are currently a playoff team. The point is, these things don't matter UNLESS you let them destroy you. This is a golden opportunity for Joe Philbin, the rest of the coaching staff and the players to come together and rise above the din. Winning cures all.
I agree there's positive things going on. But, in the grand scheme of things, I don't think it outweighs the negatives of the season to this point. And now there's one, and potentially a second story (Pouncey situation) that are unrelated to on-the-field aspects of the Dolphins that are going to be big news merely for the fact they hit key buzzwords in today's society - bullying, racism, guns, etc.
I think this could have been a rallying point for the players if Incognito had not been suspended. But Incognito was one of the team's leaders. Him being suspended on evidence is a blow for the team. Especially since Pouncey is linked, and Pouncey is already under fire for the subpoena. Hard to imagine the team rallies from here.
We have a left tackle and a right tackle. Saw them play Thursday. We just suspended the left guard. We hopefully have other linemen who can play there. But we are at the point that our stability is what's left of Clabo, the right guard who's perennially out of shape, and the center with the grand jury subpoena. Hope it doesn't get ugly for Tanny.
Plausible but I think it's a stretch and most of us are going on limited information and guessing anyway. I just don't think Richie would be like yeah we're cool bro, then the next day say "hey n-word, how about backing me up." I don't think Richie is a smart man but seems dumb even for him. I think it's more likely Martin just said yeah we're fine not wanting any further harassment, and him and whoever is advising him (parents I guess) were still putting everything together and the new texts mentioned are part of what they have gathered from the past. I mean if the reports of bullying are false then why did Martin have a breakdown and leave? Is it because some guys played an innocent prank of leaving the table when he sat down? Or did he leave the team because there has been a buildup of bullying and he reached his breaking point this past week? I think the second one makes more sense. Your scenario could be right though, like I said, we're all just guessing and waiting. I liked Richie but it isn't looking good for him right now.
I guess Martin is no Prince Amukamara. Remember when he was carried over JPP's shoulder like a sack of potatoes and then dumped into an ice bath b/c his teammates thought he was too passive & soft and wanted to induce the fight and swagger to come out in him? I'm not an advocate per se of all the hazing Amukamara endured but the kid is playing with a backbone now rather than having a breakdown over it, quitting on the team, and contemplating legal action. I do not agree. Garner has been a starting guard for short stretches before, and can do a decent job. Thomas showed in preseason that he is not ready for prime time and could get Tannehill decapitated faster than some of the guys we have starting now. I would not start Thomas unless injuries forced it or we are mathematically eliminated.
Garner couldn't pass block any worse than Incognito has so far, and Martin and Clabo are a push at RT. This isn't going to make Tannehill anymore vulnerable.
My God. Some long time posters have lost their marbles over this. And the retcon by others is hilarious. As soon as the race card got dropped, Martin was no longer soft. People actually believed that Jon freaked out over petty pranks. Of course others seem to believe that nothing happened at all. What a strange set of reactions this has generated.
That play looked like he expected help from Pouncey who went over and doubled Peko with Jerry. Which DT would you more want to double? Atkins or Peko?
